@@CameronVanNatta Except there are a lot of compromises:
- It lacks Advanced Optimus which means no automatic iGPU/dGPU connectivity to the display meaning you'll have to restart every time you want either decent efficiency or full dGPU performance.
- There's no G-Sync which now that so many games have DLSS and Frame Gen should be mandatory.
- When you populate all 4 RAM slots, you're limited to 3600Mhz RAM.
- The keyboard isn't full-mechanical even though they claim it is--the entire function row, numpad, arrowkeys, and some other abbreviation keys are membrane which is a pathetic attempt at cost-cutting.
- The touchpad is prone to mis-clicks and palm rejection isn't the greatest on the touchdeck.
- It barely edges out the much cheaper Legion Pro 7i in combined CPU/GPU performance evaluations.

Exactly! My 7800X3D/4090 Combo gaming desktop is easily $2000 cheaper than this laptop. Not only is mine more powerful, every single part (minus the WiFi card) is fully upgradable.

Your total FPS is fore sure a lot better. However your CPU is slower then this one for daily tasks. I have a I7-14700KF that is a lot faster then the ryzen 7 7800X3D in multi tasking and single thread. But your cpu is faster in gaming. Not a whole lot. My 4080 super can't keep up with your 4090 for sure. And i also would never buy a 5400$ laptop.

My laptop's design is real nice, looks nicer than the more expensive options plus more than enough power. Predator helios neo 16, nice metal lid, familiar design coming from an acer nitro, 100 watt hour battery, raptor lake HX processor Ada lovelace GPU, metal lid, etc
I prefer desktops honestly, and I love laptops.

I wonder about the oerformance difference from a 7945x3d laptop.
I almost bought this to be able to run 192GB as an upgrade to my Asus SCAR 18 2023 which currently runs 96GB DDR5, 16GB GDDR6 and 118GB Optane as a dedicated swap drive.
The problem that stopped me is how regarded the design of MSI machines are and the port layout. I would be running 192GB DDR5 with overflow to a 3 disk 354GB Optane Raid 0 array. Half terrabyte memory workloads are exciting.
i am personally thinking to buy one for myself do you think Rog strix scar 16/18 enough to handle Houdini, Unreal, 3ds max, Maya, After Effects, Davinci, Zbrush, Substance and Cinema 4D simulations like stuff
looks like you also work in some either vfx gaming field or deep learning only those guys need this much of ram lol
SD Card ready is crucial, this would be a lovely bundle if you happened to own a bambu lab x1 Carbon... my wallet is shivering at the thought of buying this

The only new in this trackpad is RGB and the not existing transmisssion between the trackpad and the body. Apple is using trackpads with haptic feedback for ages.
So what is the actual battery life of the MSI Titan 18 HX? For gaming workloads and for productivity workloads? Its awesome, but the Razer Blade 18 has similar technical specifications to the Titan 18 HX with a vastly superior OLED display, Thunderbolt 5, 200 HZ 4K, and can still get 98 GB DDR5. I slightly prefer the Razer Blade 18 IMO.
Also, this laptop is absolutely great, well worth the price only if you can afford it (as is the Razer Blade 18 and M3 Max Macbook Pro) but is absolutely nothing compared to a true desktop workstation full tower PC, not even remotely close.

Some are looking to get rid of the non mobile Desktop forever but want the power of one on the go. But you are right, the cost is prohibited.
Portability and the convenience of having an all in one system if you are willing to pay the price
Personally i'm looking to buy this one because i'm going to be doing a game art study (which is at a campus and has to be portable), so need a load of power. The study hasn't specified yet what the expected power is supposed to be of the laptop but i want one that is absolutely not going to give me bs while i'm trying to work in blender or unity. Might as well go for a higher end to get the best of all.
Its a vjs wet dream.All that ram is very handy for on the go editing in after effects and other programs.
Some of us travel for work and have extreme commercial video or image editing needs. This machine fits the bill and we don't care about price. We'll use it for 3 years and toss it for another $6k laptop.
The MSI Titan is a super powerful no compromises mobile gaming juggernaut on the go! I don't need this much performance since the last gen Raider GE78HX 17inch13950HX/32/RTX 4080 is more than half price and perfect for my needs. I absolutely appreciate the customizable advanced bios/UEFI features MSI gives us. MSI has a well engineered chassis with decent powerful cooling. (Recommend a cooling pad) I personally would get a discounted 13 gen intel i9 version since the performance is identical between them. Thanks UFD Tech for showcasing this. Cheers!

Great review, but please, do not open the display pulling it up on one side, always in the middle when using one hand....it hurts me seeing this - I know cuz I made the same mistake a long time ago with one of my laptops, and the bracket finally broke ;-)

Whats up with these big laptops all having num pads? That kills it for me as no thansk for having to have hand placement shifted left, and generally those specs seem best for just running a bunch of virtual machines for labs. I genuinely wonder how good the speaker quality for music is vs a macbook pro as thats the consumer gold standard.

consider that the i9-14900HX and the Laptop 4090 with thermals taken into account is around the speed of an i5-14600K and a 4070 SUPER. MSI wants 5000 USD for this laptop by the way. You could just build a Mini ITX PC for 2500.

My top spec pc cost less than half the price of this and probably gets twice the performance on account of the fact that it doesnt thermal throttle the second i put any sort of load on it

I find it how this has a massive 99.9Watt hour battery, it's the largest you can legally have on an airplane but at full power it will barely last 20 minutes at 270 watts 😂

@@adamelghalmi9771I have above 20/20 vision and can absolutely tell the difference between 4k and 1440p at a normal desk distance. My PC struggles to run 4k sometimes though, which sucks 😂
Also for the original comment, the 4090 mobile is closer to a 4060 or 3070 than a 3090.

If the laptop has the same cores and vram as a 4080 and then calls it a 4090, how isn't this the same as the 4080 12 gig that was rebranded to the 4070 ti?
And keep in mind the desktop can pull nearly double the frames of this laptop. This laptop performance gaming wise is slightly better than a 4070ti dektop for about $5400.
rather have good fast 32gb of ram. 128gb ram does nothing unless your video editing/ rendering. faster 32gb would perform better.
128 ddr5 ram is useless, i9 14900hx will bottleneck the 4090 mobile so the 4090 mobile will be only be used a 92% of its power, a 4090 mobile is a desktop 4080 and an i9 14900hx will bottleneck any gpu exept the desktop 4090

As a person with vision problems, this is awesome. The last laptop I had was a 18-in monitor and that was maybe 7 or 8 years ago. As a computer software programmer I have been waiting for this for so long. When they went down from 18 in the last time it was said that nobody would ever need something like this.
As much power as they can possibly get while still being portable.

I'm planning on a build for unreal engine with 256 gbs ram, prolly only 4800mts, 5090, and whatever MOBO that supports it. next gen noctua 8 pipe cpu cooler, next gen noctua fans all blacked out, Next gen dark hero? maybe MSI MOBO cuz they list QVL ram compatibility and update bios quicker, 6 months hurry up! lol keep your laptop. that would cost the same price! still respect the grind Sir UFD Tech.

Eh.. I'll pass. I don't like the way this laptop LOOKS & because of that, I don't want it. I'd rather still buy the Raider GE78HX because I like the way it looks better & satisfies my power hungry urge for wanting the mother of all laptops mentality. The new MSI Titan 18HX is only a SMIDGE more powerful than the MSI Raider GE78HX top spec model to the point of insignificance, so I really don't think it's worth changing my mind, & that wifi 7 non-sense isn't really relevant to taking it to a coffee shop or something or on the go, because almost every public wifi ear like starbucks & what not doesn't even have wifi-7 anyways. Hell, i'm not even sure they even have wifi-6, so that is also meaningless to me as well.
Main thing though, is that I think every part it except for topside, underside, & keyboard looks gross, & don't want it. The front & back throws me off because of the lack of rgb in the front (Miss that sexy & fun light bar), & the back is just plain jane as hell, & to make matters works, they brought back the colored faking plastic pieces. Not everyone likes red or in this case blue, & it should have been replaced with rgb instead, because that is what rgb is for in the first place. To give people color options on how they want their pc to looks. Not just stuck with one damn color & have to paint or plasty dip those parts just to change it. Plus, the pc looks sexier in the dark with rgb & 9 times out of ten, you're gaming or doing shit in the dark anyways & idk why people hate on rgb so much, but those type of people are lame losers, because we all know those colorful vibrant lights are objectively beautiful. Stop lying to yourselves. Human beings as a species like colorful lights. That's why we use them for festive events.
