  • In this video I'm confirming what professional firers have told us for years, that your igniter extension connections (whether just strip and twist, or a connector) do NOT need to be protected from damp or rain. They do not short out, cross fire or fail even if wet, as proven here where I submerge them completely under water.
I also repeat the test with 2 x series and 2 x parallel igniters just to make sure these also fire OK.
At the risk of stating the blindingly obvious, you must however ensure both your firing system itself plus all your fireworks are protected from rain, damp grass or dew. The wire extension connections being the only part (aside from the wire itself) that doesn't need to be weatherproofed.
Note also how simply stripping and twisting wire - a simple method favoured by professionals - works just as well as dedicated connectors.
