- When Buddy gets a part-time job at a bakery, Willie is smitten with the owner, Big Al. Meanwhile, Nancy finds herself in a romantic triangle between Peter, her former college professor, and ex-husband Jeff, anxious for a reconciliation.
I love how willie and Nancy hang out together in the guest house!😊
I love this series, but I'm surprised at the occasional lack of accuracy. Twice Doug looks out of his bedroom window into the front yard and says that he can see the light on in the guest house where Nancy lives, but the guest house was actually in the backyard!
Good call
Also Kate said to Nancy "he was your husband for 4 years" , meanwhile Timmy looks to be about 8 months old.( Jeff and Nancy got married and had Timmy right away.)
In the first series, Nancy was pregnant with a second child.
I love this show. Not sure why it eases me. It must strum a cord from long ago. I didn’t appreciate it when it was on the television.
@@charleyarchuleta4932 I liked it then- and I like it now - it certainly depicts a simpler , happier time IMO - they call it progress but if it means life is better - I say not so much
Everytime I watch these TV serries always brings back great beautiful memories,,I'm a huge fan of family ,those were the good ole days ,yesterdays times where families were close ,had meals together, music was more meaningful, children had manners, wot ever happened to humans these days
This was my favorite show I especially loved the opening theme.
So do I. I believe this was the first episode using the more recent theme song & the first with Meredith Baxter replacing Elayne Heilveil, as Nancy Maitland.
John Rubenstein (Jeffrey Maitland) & son of renowned classical pianist Arthur Rubenstein, composed both opening themes.
"I'm serious, Willie, I heard that boys who grow up without their fathers become homosexuals." LOLOLOLOLOL I mean, did anyone hear that?!
Truly hilarious!😂
Hahaha hahaha hahaha
😂
The sad thing is they said those things as if it was bad to be gay because ba k then a lot of people thought it was bad to be gay and a lot of kids had dads that beat them if they were gay!!
@@annalee-rw9eslike Little Richard.
I can’t believe Kate wears a damn dress and heels every day.
And loves her cocktails
she looks like her kids grandmother..
??????? What does it matter what she wear!!
@@debbieschultz9768 she looks way too old for that part....
@@lucyjane103 Well let's not forget that Nancy is supposed to be in her late 20s, so that puts Kate around 50ish...
Poor Kristy- she has to say lines like “ I’m worried-I heard that boys that grow up without fathers become homosexuals.” I’m old and straight but so relieved some of these dark age attitudes are changing.
Willie is so immature demanding the date be as.long as he wants....not respecting that she has a business and goes to school etc. Of course it was just a show and needed a storyline but just being hypothetical. What a creep Jeff is waiting in Nancys place in the dark. What a toxic relationship they had.
Jeff sneeking into Nancy's place...I would have called the cops...
I like this Nancy better. The first one was too whiny.
They had to get a prettier actress for Nancy because her character evolved into "the pretty girl whose gotten by on her looks all her life" angle. So the actress had to be stunning to make it believable.
@@animalcrosleystourmanager891 That is funny to me, because I never thought Meredith Baxter was very attractive. Also, I thought the first Nancy was a better actress and fit.
Agreed
I think this Nancy is equally as whiny.
@@animalcrosleystourmanager891I think Meridith is pretty but stunning?
I wonder if this show ever had a blooper reel.
Was wondering the same thing
Didn't mean to scare you??? What the hell else did he think was going to happen, waiting creepily in the dark!
Thanks so much for sharing, love this show! It should be time for another marathon on the Decades channel!
I love Willie’s and Jeff’s friendship.
Nancy just can't say NO...
...It always seems as if Willie and Jeff have a perpetual crush on one another.
You mean like sharing a glass of juice in the driveway😆
"...want an apple?"
A bromance

That’s what it’s called
Willie and Buddy playing in the yard . I wish I wouldve had a sibling like that instead of the selfish greedy one I have . Estranged
Are these episodes out of order? In the last one Willie was going to the farm to find himself as a writer for a few months and he didn't have a paying job. Now he's back from the farm, no mention of the farm, and he works for a photography studio?
Great wardrobe they have for Nancy!
I agree!!
Nancy is leaving an immature guy!!!!
This was back in the good ole days when a college teacher could date his students without being considered a "prevert."
I have to admit it was satisfying to see Nancy get slapped
Yeah, diva
Those two slaps happening today would have them both in handcuffs, charged with domestic violence and hauled off to jail!
In front of a judge AND her dad, at that! WOW.......
That’s Assault
I never saw her that way.
Wasn't she the prrfect mom?
And dad was the perfect dad. 🤗
Absolute least favorite character- Nancy!
turn on the auto-generated English captions around 26:12 and watch what the captions read at about 26:14 .
What's it say?
What happened to the other Nancy?
she was upgraded
I read the original actress turned down season 2
@@robertcrestohl9709 👍🏽😅😢🤣😆😂
Ah, they took Elaine Heilveil, the original Nancy, and threw her on the heap where they threw all those Star Trek guys wearing red who got zapped midway through an episode! (Just kidding!). It was my understanding that Ms. Heilveil turned down the second season. The first season was only 6 episodes! I also read somewhere that there was another actress considered for the role of Nancy. I don't recall her name now,
The guy sho played Nancy’s husband John Rubenstein created the theme song of the series AND Came out the closet along with Meredith, Baxter, Bernie, and Kristy McNichol
Is incredible how in the 70’s the people think about be an homosexual like it is a bad thing.
That is really bothering me as I watch these. Horrible message sent to kids. Breaks my heart. Thank goodness things are better now.
Homosexuality was rarely if ever discussed at length on primetime television or anywhere else for that matter until the early 1990's, except in relation to the AIDS epidemic or as a comic set-up.
At 48, I'm pretty old & remember it as just the norm of the times & not unusual in the least. Fortunately, family aired two enlightening episodes surrounding a gay friend of Willie's & a lesbian teacher of Buddy's respectively...groundbreaking for the times.
👍🏽💯😊

Ah aids
Jane J complains about the lack of accuracy. If my eyes don't deceive me, Jeff and Nancy just ate room-temperature condensed clam chowder out of a can with two spoons! I'm a survivalist, and I've done some gritty things over the years, but I am horrified. I suppose the cocaine and the Southern California sunshine had so eroded the brains of the writers by the second season (?!) that nobody noticed what was happening on screen was just plain nasty... I delight in the repeated appearances by old school character actors in this show, as if it was made at the threshold between the era of classic television and the modern world. It must be that the late, late Mr. Spelling was handing work around to all his old friends. Good on him! I hate to admit it, but these cranky, imperfect episodes are worth reviewing, even if I am bramaging my own dain in the process. How have I lived without it for so long? Argh!
"Bramaging my own dain" -- lol!
This show gets more ridiculous with every episode. Do the kids sleep together too? Surprised “Trojans” was not a sponsor.
You don’t have to watch it!!!
Nancy just can't say NO...
