Television doesn't make these type of beautiful shows anymore. I never saw this episode before. Hard to believe but I watched Family nearly 40 years ago.
I may have found the filming location of the antique store where Buddy buys a camera in this episode, accompanied by her grandmother and Willie. It may have been at 5742 Lankershim Blvd. in North Hollywood. It is now a pet store with a Cat and Dog Grooming sign on a blue facade. The Feders Appliance store visible in the background when Willie is turning onto Lankershim Blvd. from Miranda St. is still there.

This Series was also shown once a week on TV in Germany during the early 80ies. I was 16. One of my favourites then. But some of the seasons/episodes were omitted over here. Now I can watch them here on YT for the first time. They are even sold on DVD in English & German, but only 28 Episodes in total. Thanks for the upload.
Why couldn't Hattie stay in the guest house? Maybe the writers hadn't invented it yet. I guess it materialized when Nancy divorced and Meredith Baxter signed on to play her.
