    This is why MB is the man! One of my local shops that has been around long before I was into car Audio at a teenager has told me that they will not install an epicenter even though they are an audiocontrol dealer. The reason why they that it does nothing but blowup subs. Now being knowledgeable about audio as I am I don’t believe a reputable company like audiocontrol would put this out if it really did this. I think it had more to do with customers not knowing what they can and can’t do with it. Jmo

      @@beyondthedetails not true you just don't have it set up right even on like say hip hop some songs that don't already have 30hz to 40hz it will add the low bass in and it will hit 100% harder than someone not using a epicenter (a lot are missing it that's why there are so many rebassed versions of hiphop songs on here)

    I been debating on if i wanna add a epicenter to my system. Jus had reputable audio shops say there not needed if you listen to nothin but rap/hiphop. MB does a good job of explaining how to use them and get the most out of them. Plus you can always turn the epicenter off or to normally listening effects when needed

    • @michaelford4360
      @michaelford4360 Před rokem +3

      Most rap and hip hop you won’t need it. However for some of the old school stuff , rock , metal or country it will work wonders on certain songs. You will be able to use or EQ to get the sound you want for a lot of songs but this does help with the songs where a manual EQ adjustment just doesn’t do it . I definitely think it’s worth having one just in case you can’t get the lows you’re looking for in some songs. I don’t use mine a lot but it’s nice to have it when you need it .

      I run a 15Hz - 18dB/Octave PFM in my Epicenter & run my amplifier's Infrasonic Filter set to off. I use my Epicenter for every type of music even rebassed music down to 18Hz & lower, so I need a 15Hz PFM so it does not cut those frequencies.

    As soon as you open an Epicenter, you realize how old it is and that they've never changed or updated/upgraded anything over the years. That PCB is so large for so little components on it. Audio control can easily rid the PCB of that excess open space and shrink the overall footprint of it by more than half.
    This is a prime example of when someone says that they are overpriced. The components haven't changed since the 90s. Still using the same old tech that costs them peanuts to make and they aren't making an effort to improve anything at all and they still charging you a lot for it.
    I get people can buy what they want and that people can see the value in it, but come on. You still can overpay for something. More expensive doesnt always equal more quality. Benz and BMW are expensive, but they don't last long without emptying your wallet over pointless repairs that wouldn't ever happen on a Lexus.

    Hey MBE I got a question on this topic, I listen to 80’s music from time to time. I also have Apple Music, would I still need an epicentre seeing that most files are Lossless/Dolby Atmos. The more direct question is, are the harmonics already restored by apple ?

    • @DTW-bx2vy
      @DTW-bx2vy Před rokem +1

      Yes, Lossless Audio is the best audio option available but the problem is the frequencies the Epicenter add's back to the music was never present in the studio recording to begin with. That is why an Epicenter would be very helpful to add bass frequencies that were never there to the music you like to listen too.

    • @anthonywhite17128
      @anthonywhite17128 Před rokem +1

      It gives you the music the way it was when made in the studio ! It works magic for 80s-99 songs

    • @JasonWW2000
      @JasonWW2000 Před rokem +1

      You don't "need" it, but you might "want" it. The quality of the music or if it's from Apple has nothing to do with anything. Its the recording engineer that put the music together to be released on the album that usually rolls off the low bass to prevent speakers from rattling or being damaged. Apple does not do anything to the music. Its just a service to sell it.

      Epicenter generally works best for 80s music, 90s, pop, country, rock, even a lot of edm, etc. I find though it can be hit or miss on some songs no mattet what the genre. Sometimes it sounds hard hitting and clean and other times it sounds like trash and produces a wavy type bass

    I'm a bit confused So you're saying the PFM chip changes the frequency range of the sweep knob? I always thought it was a highpass infrasonic filter to supplement the subsonic filter on your amp so you don't over load your subs and bottom them out at frequencies below port tuning

    • @smurfeco2.358
      @smurfeco2.358 Před 10 měsíci

      Epicenter doesn't protect speakers that's your amp subsonic . It even says on the owners manual if you go really low you can damage your speakers .

      I thought the same thing. But there's no information to justify. Been searching over a year and still confused. I have a 15L7 qclass which plays down to 18hz. With my 20 hz pfm it plays the lowz very well.

    • @darealbrain
      @darealbrain Před 9 měsíci

      I thought the same thing, the pfm in the epicenter filters frequency below chip. It works similarly to the ultrasonic filter on amp. Which protects the speaker to a certain point not completely therefore still a chance you can blow your speaker if you clip your amp. But there's no information to justify. Been searching over a year and still confused. I have a 15L7 qclass with the ability to play down to 18hz. With my 20 hz pfm it plays the lowz very well.
