I have a classmate in college we live in different city,after graduation I visited her hometown as a Filipino myself I was shocked when she asked her parents to move in the living for me to sleep in their bed,they have a tiny house at that time. Of course I didn’t let that happened, it’s in our culture but if you received that kind of gesture you will be surprised too.

This is not strictly a Thanksgiving celebration. This is how they celebrate everything including graduations, Laker games, Pacquiao fights, Miss Universe, baptisms, and even funerals!

This makes me so happy! My fiancé is Filipino American and his family welcomed me when we just started dating. I’ve learned so much about their culture, food and hospitality throughout my time with them. Now I’m always down for chicken adobo and sigsig baboy during Philfest. It’s an annual Filipino festival in Florida. Salamat po!

I was invited to a Filipino birthday party and OMG it was so fun. I go to this Filipino market in my home town when I can and it is run by a family and the mom calls me her daughter and she is just this sweetest lady ever.
They're so open-minded about their children teaching them. 😌☺️
And it’s amazing how in every Filipino party not everyone present there is related by blood. Sometimes we just meet family friends call the elders tita/tito/lola/lolo and all the kids are cousins.
Oh my God I just love Filipino people. They are so welcoming and nice. It is in their blood.

Parties or gatherings like this in Filipino culture is an exercise for the extended families to reconnect, interact, gossip, and generally have fun with food as the center of attraction, so time is not strictly observed, known as Filipino time which you know now. There were multiple tables because the gathering was not limited to the invitees. Even a stranger walking into these parties are welcome to partake of the food as if he's a member of the family. Oh, lest I forget, I'm sure you have seen how each attendees went home with some takeaway food for the road. That's Filipino culture for you.

I'm half filipino from my mother's side and italian/Irish from my dad's side but I grew up with my filipino side more. Lol the goodbyes but not goodbyes is forever a thing :). I'm glad you got to experience our culture it's so wholehearted.

So much fun hanging out with Filipino aunties. I heard them speaking like Jokoy's mom Filipino accent, hard and sharp english speaking. 😅 Be friend with Filipinos, they are some of the most nicest and hospitable people you will meet. No one goes hungry at a party or gathering. They will also ask you to bring home some food with tupperwares. Just be polite and respect their culture and you will have a good time. ❤️

I knew Markian was quite shocked when he had to emphasize how the food just keeps coming as the guest continue arriving, and that there was no start or end time for the buffet. One thing about being Filipino is how the food just have to continue flowing in an event or a dinner. I hope you enjoyed ♥️

That's how it is in filipino parties! Everyone comes in late and goes home late or never go home at all. Catching up stories and karaoke never end. There is always a table to hop on for the juiciest gossip of your choice. Some get dead drunk sleeping on the side but a few brave souls take on the challenge of singing the whole telephone book until sunrise. We just love karaoke! 😂

I’m Filipino and we share our blessings through food. There’s abundance, but we give it all away because we don’t know if that person has food in their house for the next few days. So, it’s better to give a lot, than be stingy with it. I love my Filipino culture and I hope my kids in the future won’t forget about it living here in the USA.
The auntie with a chanel bag but has a to go bag is so Filipino. Sometimes they will bring tupperware or microwaveable containers for their take home food after the party
You experienced the quintessential Filipino tradition of celebration (not to be confused with stereotypical). I am half-Filipino, born and raised in the Philippines. I miss this construct of energy made up of food, family, friends, adopted family, karaoke, uncles playing the guitar, taking home leftovers, and occasional awkwardness of extroverted aunties. Thank you for sharing this!

The thing about us filipinos is that we are happy people. We wake up everyday and face a lot of difficulties, may it be family problem, financial problem, or love problem, but we still chose to smile and be happy. Here in the Philippines, you'll always see filipino people who live just in the streets or under the bridge and barely have anything to eat, but you can still see smiles on their faces. We just chose to be happy despite of the challenges we encounter.
I love this video! It made me realize how me being Filipino should be proud of. With the culture, food, hospitality and positivity of all Filipinos. Imagine meeting a stranger for the first time but treating you as a family member. 🫶🏼❤️

The uncles are cool to hang out with and drink, but the aunties are always the life of the parties. You gotta kick it with them if you wanna have a good time. They're loud, happy and tell the best jokes.

This is such an amazing series... I have binge-watched a couple of them now back to back and I've just been smiling all the way... I must say the Italian and Filipino were heartwarming all the way through. A family that is fluid with their time, have a lot of food at their parties, says a couple goodbyes, have lots of laughter are just key points of a happy family!

This was legit and you got the whole experience! You got the aunties and cousins talking and laughing. The uncles all gathered to drink in one spot. Karaoke, with of course Dancing Queen is always sung. Jamming session with a guitar. No particular structure to the gathering, especially with eating, just a formal start and it's on and on as long as you want. Palaro (games). The "sharon cuneta" (pabalot). And the goodbye that takes forever with multiple "o siya" and stages, one inside that goes on go talking, then one by the door, then one outside. Lol.
It warms my heart seeing other people respect and enjoy our culture. ❤️🇵🇭

This video reminded me of what I’ve been missing. I moved here in WA far away from any Filipino relatives…my child is growing up without that loving community. All I can give her that has my Filipino roots is the food. I’d love to be adopted by that family too❤.

I seriously love filipino families, I still could remember relatives coming together, teen cousins gathering inside a room, taking care of their baby cousins while the older members cook lots of food while the titos are having beer / gossip sessions and the titas being marites 😫

Thank you so much for this video. I really needed this. I really miss my family in the Philippines. I remember as a kid, we will have a lot of parties all the time. It just same old routine. When I went to Australia at 16. I realised how much miss my family and close we are. We have good time and laugh a lot. I have not visited the Philippines for a long time due to school, pandemic and commitments that I can’t leave behind. I miss them but sometimes we are a lot 😂
And it’s true we don’t really say goodbye for the next hour or 2. I just get comfortable until my parents tell it’s time to actually go like two hours later

I loved how Filipino-american elders/adult living in US they are all so teachable. They do think that they know everything in this world; I loved that they listen to their teenage son/daughter about certain things liked racism and body shamming. It's kinda rare when you're exactly lived in the Philippines, some of our elders and young adults is not well teachable, they think that they better than the younger generation because they have money or something that makes them powerful. It's kinda sad when you're proving your point to them with credible evidence, they do not listen to you as the matter of facts that they also think that they are always right even though is not. It's kinda blind obedience when you're following them in everything; it's a double standard when you have different point of view in everything, so, when they listen to you, they invalidating your perspective because it's rare to them. They also based their perspective in older generation even though it makes them poorer. It's kinda suck living in my house. I wished I'm a Filipino-american in USA.
