*We appreciate all the work and effort you put into your videos. It definitely shows. Thank you.*
*We hope Charlie's doing better.*
For aligning the interior panel clips, trace the new panel to make a cardboard (non-corrugated) pattern. Hold or tape it in place and tap around the perimeter with a small ball peen hammer to emboss the hole locations, then align the clips to match the holes and install.
Yep totally agreed. The art supplies shop wherever you are has nice thin cardboard that makes great templates, it’s kinda pricey but the results are way better than free cardboard
🔥idea
Ram Board from Home Depot works great for templates you'll find it in the flooring department
@@violinmiata hobby lobby or dollar store is way cheaper. cardboard boxes are free at any store they usually have a recycle bin. I even taped together notebook paper, cereal box cardboard for bolt placement when taking primary, cam, etc covers off🐈⬛👍
@@SarahnTuned I’d like to see the firewall/ engine bay Cerakoted with the bronze color coating and have the big pulley wheel on the engine Cerakoted in the bronze color as well… it’d look 🔥🤙🌀
Thanks!
Hey I’m early, wishing everyone an amazing Sunday!!
back at you
Have I mentioned what a great service you're doing by showing how involved a "simple" refresh and restoration can be!? Thank goodness you do amazing work and stop to highlight all the tricky areas that need heightened attention. I'm so glad I found your channel, it's extremely nice to see someone work on vehicles without shortcuts and make do's. You rock Sarah, keep gettin it,...yeah!!
You are soooo gorgeous! Tech tip from retired mechanic: gaskets are held in place by a combination of surface friction and compression. Torque provides the compression, and shellac acts a glue. Silicone, however, eliminates the surface friction due to its slimy nature. This allows the gasket to slip out, especially on cork gaskets. I love you videos. You're so sweet!
I grew up in a Beatle, now I'm 48, vividly remember every screw and bolt... When you get stuck I yell at screen, there's bolt back there... :D :D :D
Your hair looks gorgeous Sarah
What a job you’re making on this project , no surprise but I never miss a second 🏴😎
Hello Sarah. That lesson you learned about changing your attention to another matter once things get a little frustrating is a valuable one. Training your brain to say hold-up, before it is too late and mistakes are made. Those that know you, know you have another project to get your mind reset. A change is as good as a break.
1/2 million subscribers! This is epic 😊 a testament to your hard work 👍 much much respect ✊
ditto all that
You have used the term " Dry Ice Blasting" at least 37 times in the last 5 videos and I still have no idea what it is. Yes, I realize I am watching a year old video. Loving the content!!!
That was good of you to show that guy putting the windshield in place, Him using that cord to put the seal in place was very interesting. Another great video Sarah.
Glass installers have been doing it that way for years and years.
Seals for doors also are done this way
hI sARAH, tHAT THING IS A ton OF WORK.
500K getting shown that we don't have to have super high dollar tools and sponsors to be able to do quality work on our own projects, just determination and willingness to learn. Well done on the continued growth and success.
Tech tip. Put your paint brushes in sealed plastic bags when not in use and they'll stay soft even with glue forever. Paint is the same. Glad bags are your friend for not wasting brushes allowing you to use non disposable ones which is groovy like salad and early Boston.
When removing tie rods and ball joints, hit the side of arm that holds the tie rod or ball joint with a large hammer. It distorts the hole just enough to release the tapered pin. Great rebuild. Love the bug. I grew up in that era. Neighbors parents had one. Crammed 4 kids in the back and adults up front. Littlest kid got stuck in the way back area.
The wife and I are glad you had a self care day, you work too hard. Your hair and nails look super cute! We can’t wait to Win Ragnar!!! Thanks for your service, I was a CH-47 Flight Engineer.
Love the haircut and the lipstick color
Sarah the amazing VW mechanic !!
Putting men VW mechanics to shame!!
That rage against the machine shirt. Is looking very nice.
Tie rod removal without special tools and not ruining boot.....pry up on rod and strike the end of the tie rod arm.
As usual, loving this build. Ragnar is going to be one sweet Bug after you're done with him/her! So much attention to detail, you're basically doing a body-off without the body off!🤔 Thanks again, Sarah! ✌️❤️🙂🇨🇦
Hair Colorist here. Have your colorist use barrier cream on your hair line before applying the color.
It's like masking off parts on the car before paint;)
Whoever gets Ragnar will be very lucky indeed with the quality of work you're doing.
Sarah was so smart to have the glass put in. Every Beetle enthusiast freaks out about that windshield.
Your hair looks great.
NOt too hard. Only on a older windshield.
I'm sure you realize you're an absolute super genius for doing a bug build. It's the one car all generations can relate too or have a memory or story they can share. Old, young, middle aged, doesn't matter, everyone knows what a VW bug is and been impacted in some way by that little car. I've seen your subscriber and view counts soar during this build. Amazing job Sarah, your rockin it!
Congratulations on reaching 500K! Can't wait to see Ragnar in her finished state!
The innuendos are never ending! 😂
When Sarah does a restoration, the car gets fully stripped. Every janky bolt removed and every part cleaned till it sparkles.
I'm loving this reno/build.
A tip for aligning the clips is to take some clear plastic sheet, cut it to the same outline as the panel, and then mark the centre of the holes. Then temporarily tape it up the interior. and then mark the centre of those holes, or just draw a line to denote the orientation once it's placed back on the panel. You could, in theory, leave the plastic in place.
Make sure you make time for yourself. Your work ethic is amazing, just try not to burn yourself out
I know you know you have followers around the world, I'm in New Zealand, we love the content ! Cheers for the 500k viewers!
Thanks
This green shirt is 100% heart throb
When I work on old rusted stuff I hit it with blaster as much as a week before the job . Possible a few times if possible . Helps get the nut off .........
Look into some Wiss heavy duty shears for the next time you need to cut carpet.
Wood and new rubbers- happiness.
I love that you do all that with nails… That’s talent.
Definitely a heck of alot of work.
Advanced congrats on 500k subscribers.
Should happen real soon.
You earned everyone with your fun content.
Happy Half a Million Subs Sarah !!!!!!
I have been waiting for the day when you had to do that clips into the hole. I’ve done those jobs before I know your frustration.. lol
You should sign your name in the cars you build in a spot where you will find it when something is taken apart.
About to hit 500,000. That’s awesome.
The journey is not the end its how you get there wait.. if they disassemble it will it go back together again. You can do it. Better shinnies
that wire going to the front wheel is the speedometer cable
Hey Sarah, the interior is looking as snug as a rug in a bug….🐧🐧🐧👍🏻 and congratulations on the 500k !!!!🎉
Half a million! WOW! Onwards and upwards. So well deserved and all you hard work pays off. GoSarah GoSarah!!
Once you have this car finished and drive it around, you will amazed by the number of people who will stop you to talk about it. Everyone has a Beetle story! These cars are so approachable.
Ding! The turkeys are done!
Hello Sarah, Hi from the UK. Loving your work
how about add a little nylon strap/loop to the underside edge of that wood panel to make it easier to lift when servicing the battery? Just a suggestion. I think you're awesome.
If you use a hammer on the steering knuckle right next to the tapered joint it will usually pop out with out special tools. It will work on ball joints too.
This bug is going to be better than new , thanks for sharing. 👍
Congratulations Sarah, you now have 500,000 subscribers. Well deserved too, carry on.
There's something to be said for working on a car that's essentially a large go-kart. Will be one of the nicest Bugs out there!
Nah, I’ll give it a solid B- lol. I had to curb my OCD due to budget and time on this one.
I love your work ethic. As always, sending love. You're awesome 😎
No one on You Tube works as hard as you do! Thank you for more great content and your hard work.
So much fun. Thanks Sarah.
Beetles are fun.
I learned the hard way to not play around with brakes. I souped up my ‘69 Chevy step side when I was kid. 383 stroker, turbo 350 w/Saturday night special torque converter, edelbrock efi, dart heads, etc… Brakes blew apart when I needed them most and I ended up having a head on (in the ditch trying to avoid) with an F250… the only thing worth any money afterwards was the drivetrain… irony.
The dos is back. Yay.
Your hair looks great!!! Love the Color!
Oh, and looking forward to the Z car review. You got one before I did!!!!!
Congratulations on ½ a MILLION subscribers! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
CONGRATS ON HALF A MILLION SUBSCRIBERS!
Congrats on 500k Sarah! I’ve been here since
Headlights appear to need adjustment
Obviously they work quite well. Maybe just need to be tweaked a little for perfect alignment.
@@jeffreymountain1209 proper calibration works
Since you’re messing with the tank, take a look at changing the charcoal vent canister. Some janky resto’s take them out, but they’re supposed to be there.
I know I like to have Volkswagen beetle (((they are)))))
(((((((Cool))))))🤗🌞🌞
I'm old guy 73
TC everyone have a great year
Any chance that you got another pair of scissors after you fed that robots with there snack? 😋
Don't you ever loose your humor!
Awesome job as always!
Thanks for the laugh young Lady ..."I made sure it was there"
Absolutely love your hair. Bug is such a cool project and your pursuit of perfection is making it just that much better.
This has to be the coolest channel I've found in a long time. Sarah, your deadpan humor is great, your projects are interesting, and I am subscribing now... Thanks!
😳😳 curly hair! You ware those curly curls well, you look amazing! 🤘😎♥️
Way to go rocking the Rage Tee! We are of the same vintage to appreciate it.
You’re killing us. Every week we are eagerly awaiting your new videos
Scissor crotch… I’ve always wondered what that was called! Leave it up to you to come up with the perfect name! 😂😂
Congratulations on 500k subs! What a great accomplishment and well-deserved. You are a huge inspiration to other CZcamsrs like myself. Your work ethic has paid off. Now, get to 1 million subs!
I watched. I laughed. I learned. I recognized. After a lifetime of handling tools, I don't want to anymore. Nice to watch someone else do it that knows what they are doing, knows their limitations and isn't afraid to admit it. Fun watch! A Plus!
Amazing what a touch of colour in your hair does for you...
I also love the smell of fresh carpet! Nicely trimmed and fit properly. What?
I've been lured by the click bait.... bravo 👏 if you have it, use it I guess. Came for the click bait, stayed to watch the video. Job well done ✔ o/
I cant wait till you finish this. Love your content.
500k in a few minutes!!!!!!
I also love the smell of fresh cut/trimmed carpet...lol
Are you going with raised spindles? The rear you can reclock the torsion bars, but it's a job of frustration. I love this channel!!
Those tires! 🔥
Sway bar diameter, @11:56, it is proportional to the weight of the front end of the car, which is most likely 1/3 that of most of the vehicles you are used to.
Congrats on 500K subscribers! You deserve it.
Your hair looks great.
The bleed nipples on the wheel cylinders on bugs are made of cheese; they break easily in they are corroded. You'll probably want to use new ones but either way, be cautious.
You know I really look forward to these shows.
I'm glad your keeping the stock rims and colour.
Slight lift and snow tires, cool.
Love the Norm Abrams reference "gabage"
I use tin snips to cut carpet, cardboard, Lexington, etc. they are tough and stay sharp a long time.
I had a 1969 Bug back in 1977. The OEM fuel pump is mechanical not electrical. I had to go with an electric fuel pump when I upgraded the engine with 92mm pistons and cylinders to 1835cc. While the ideal placement is just below the gas tank I had no problem placing it on the engine compartment firewall. Of course I didn't have access to a vehicle lift and I had built a Baja Bug so I wanted easy access to the pump and no mud or dirt causing problems. You're doing a great job!
Makes sense, this one has a dual port 1600 in it.
@@SarahnTuned you're right, I think it should have been a 1500 single port as the original engine. Because it has an electric fuel pump it should have a block off plate where the mechanical pump should go. So if you want to revert to a mechanical pump you can. I wanted a higher fuel rate for the larger pistons and the dual carburetor I installed. Neither of which you have, on the other hand an electric fuel pump is more reliable.
A stock pump will run a big motor just fine. I’ve owned 12 second street cars (VW) with a stock pump before.
Carefulling as no one else can, Sarah! 👍
The great thing about steel rims is when bent you can pound them back in shape with a big hammer. Try to keep air in it while pounding.
You got 500000 subs!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS 👏
YEAH!!! Just ordered my Space Viking shirt! So cool!
you are so much fun to watch and the comentary is fabulous.
