I wouldn’t ever worry about “too much talking” in your content. It’s not a negative but a large part of what makes your videos stand out from the pack. Congratulations on getting the engine to run in time for this upload! Thank you. 👍👍👍
That was a SpaceX rocket from Vandenburg. What was falling was the booster returning to land. We saw the trail from San Diego
No need to ever apologize for your content. It's always interesting; no matter what you are working on. Big shout out to " Angel food cake", he's been a great help! Take care Sarah!
Please don't ever stop showing the 20% no one else does...your channel is the only channel you learn anything on and entertained at the same time
I think you underestimate how much the community you have built are happy to watch the tricky technical parts that you show more than other channels. Please keep showing everything warts and all, and thank you for sharing all of your hard work!!!
Speaking of Pareto principle, as it seems now, beginning the project with painting the car was one of the best decisions - ginormous amount of work done without rush ended up with a really good looking beetle. 🎠💨
Too bad this sweepstake isn't available for Canadians, but we're rooting for you. 🍁🧡
I DON’T WANT THIS TO END! I love this project. I was just as anxious as you when you started it up. You don’t just show “perfect” work and share your ups and downs so there was no guarantee it would work. Great job!!!
Blaupunkt.... ain't heard that name in ages.. I'm with you Sara... I always use OEM on everything.
The detail oriented, non-flashy content is a huge part of why I enjoy your work! A $100,000 project car outsourced to some name brand shop is just not relevant to my life. Struggling for hours and days over the frustrating details of doing all the work yourself, that I can relate to.
I will never have a 6 figure car.. well except for my Ur Quattro, that’s getting closer to $100k in value as time goes on.
I really don't care how boring the work is as long as you put it on CZcams I am watching it. As for oem parts, every time I am at the pick-n-pull I make a point to hoard parts for my old Toyota, just in case lol. That was an amazing build Sarah.
You shouldn't doubt yourself so much, Sarah! You are awesome at what you do! Thank you for all your hard work! Happy Halloween 🎃
Idk how, but you make the boring stuff interesting enough!
Ya. Sarah's vibe charisma sense of humour and work ethic is a combo hard to beat.
Agreed. I think mostly because she's not trying to make the series a boring, comprehensive, technical, tutorial. She perfectly calculates everything from her style to her content.
An insane amount of work , you’ve again put your heart and soul into this bug Sarah but the results speak for themselves
Absolutely first class work 🏴🙏🙏🙏
Starlink launch from Vandenberg... and the first stage landed...
Yes I was going say the same thing that was a spacex rocket and that was the Falcon stage 1 returning
The rocket launches are in my backyard.
@@HappyHarryHardon NIMBY
@@mostcom I love it. Especially when the boosters come back down. That low deep rumble is wonderful.
I love how Sarah says the word button. “but-uhn..”
The girl is absolutely friggin’ adorable.
Great seeing a Charlie cameo! Much thanks to Angel and him for assistance!
You and Angel are fantastic, and I'm so proud of you both.
Sarah not only are you beautiful, but you are an exceptional tecnician/mechanic. I an in awe of your ability and dedication to your projects ❤️🌹🥰
Congratulations! I swear, you could read a schematic and build a spacecraft!
Congratulations on it firing right up. Can't wait to see the first drive.
That smile when it started. We are proud of you.
The 20/80 rule is a well known fact in every walk of life, being a person or a company. But the 20% is the most satisfying.
Sarah-n-doing the little things. Showing the things other shows never even mention. It’s the little things that usually kill restorations. They never get done and so the car is never finished. Sarah goes that extra mile because of craftswomanship.
Fun Fact: In 1969 the finger groove to open the gas fiiler flap was removed. I was flabbergasted that it turned over only once to start up! That is amazing.
Congratulations on getting it done! I'm so impressed at your patience and self-control not to smash the whole thing up in frustration as I watched your clever wiring % meter go up to 84% then back down to 83%...
I grew up on a farm with no electricity or plumbing, just 5 kids, my hippie mom, and a '61 Beetle with a reserve tank instead of a gas gauge and a back seat that gave us a shock every time we went over a big bump (of which there were many on the dirt roads, of course). Then we graduated to a '73 beetle: no more shocks! Seat belts! Head rests! A radio! True luxury, it was.
Sarah you got the take it hill climbing before you give it away 👍
The only sad thing about this is that it's nearing the end! I want more classic VW stuff Sarah you started this! RagNar has plenty of siblings waiting to be brought back to life from you!! Thanks for all this fun vw stuff!!
You are the first person I have seen who is as comfortable as you are in a nest of loose wires. I am relatively cool with it, but I don't know anyone else. I do know that (or am I just bad at this?) I may have to cut and lay wires several times before everything lays tidy, and bundles neatly, routes safely and out of the way, and terminates in an elegant curve. A quarter inch can make it look bad, or make it liable or being pulled or snagged. Doing it over until it's right creates a lot of waste. You just have to accept it to get the great result.
Someday it would be super helpful to take us step by step through the most practical process of making and laying a wiring harness. I actually love to do this. But there are a lot of things to demystify for the average hobbyist. The non-obvious things I have learned, that should be more widely known:
-Everywhere a wire is connected or passes near, needs to be physically mounted exactly where it needs to be.
-Cut each wire at least a couple feet longer than you estimate it needs. If there is doubt about routing, cut it twice as long.
-Lay each wire where it goes and tie it down before terminating.
-Lay all wires where they go before tying anything down.
There is a lot more as you know, but until I learned these things I didn't know where to start, and usually settled for a messy, floppy, tangly job.
You would be the perfect teacher for this!
I'd love to see you restore an Opel GT with engine swap using a Mazda rotary drive train... Think that would give you plenty of opportunity for entertainment value in addition to satisfaction of seeing that vehicle build
I love this series!
Sold my Beetle a few weeks ago. Wish I stayed in the U.S.A I would have entered to win your Beetle. Looks great. I can’t believe how long I have been watching you on CZcams. 🏴😘
I love Angel Food Cake helping out. He’s great comic relief! Ragnar looks great Sarah!
"Here is the ninth circuit."
That's appealing.
It start and runs. All else is gravy. VICTORY!
The "show" in the night sky to the West was the launch of a SpaceX Starlink mission out of Vandenberg. The big "space jellyfish" as they call it is the exhaust plume of the second stage as it climbs through thinner and thinner air and the plume expands out. Launch was as the right time of day for sun to backlight the "show". :)
I’m not ready to see it go. You have put a TON of effort into it. I hope Ragnor is enjoyed by whoever wins him.
Right? I'm not a huge VW Bug fan. I'm a fan of so many other vehicles, yet I'm glued to this series. I can't bear to watch it go either.
As someone who has converted a 77 VW to be electric, sometimes not even aftermarket will do - you have to make your own. That's where 3D printers really come in handy.
Don't you dare change how you present, we watch because you ramble and show the 80% important things 😊😛🤩
It's a rocket exhaust in the upper atmosphere. Polar orbit. Spy sat.
Awesome!!! Love VWs. Learnt to drive in a 74 kombi. 1st car was a 1982 Audi 5+5!!!
i learned to drive in a '66 vw bug (manual shift)
Well it was nice to see a science Sarah. As someone that works with wires I appreciate your struggle. Nice work Sarah!
James May clearly disapproves of the Pareto Principle.
Your experience with this car is the reason why I don't play with old VW's anymore. So frustrating, you're doing the best job possible though.
It's amazing how even the simplest of cars have a rat's nest of wiring! At least its not Italian; where all the wiring is the same color!! Your presentations are always entertaining, educational; and never boring. Love the running commentary!👌👌
3:54 funny thing watching Angel, struggling in pain and fighting to do not look THERE. Happiest mechanic in neighbourhood i guesss.
6:25 - Nope, Vandenburg, was a really pretty launch, up through a low layer of cloud, SpaceX engineer Jessica killed it with the professional commentary again.
Aloha Miss Sarah! You never cease to amaze me with your work ethic and technical skills. Congratulations on the successful start and glad you have Angel in your corner.
Mahalo 🤙🏻
Amazing... I have totally and completely fallen in love with this channel over the course of one build, and some misc. Mr. DOS footage (I never knew MR2'S have undercoverings). Sarah, aside from your obvious endowments, you have such charisma and presence for your audience that just invites them in to share in the journey. I'm not great with big words, so I'll just say that you have something very special about you. It's awesome to see.
The tires and stance on that bug are awesome!
It’s been wonderful seeing this project and all the challenges and adventures you’ve and your friends have experienced! Bugs were the first cars I owned in the Air Force in Germany and worked on them in the base hobby shops, deciding to buy a new German spec one in 1983. Can’t wait to see the finished bug!
That partd issue is why am so glad for 3d printing. We have options or even options to make molds. At least it prolongs our misery.
Just the greatest 😊❤️
Once again, I have been asked by 152 of your subscribers to say the following: Hi Sarah, we really like your snappy work shirt....the best one so far. Would you please continue wearing it for us and the fans who are too silent to bring it up. Keep the cameras rolling and we'll watch no matter what you do! Thanks again. 😋😋
You just witnessed the SpaceX rocket launch from Vandenburg Space Force Base, carrying a Starlink satellite. I live in California and saw it on my home from work on the freeway.
You got a great view of it. They actually landed the booster back onto a drone ship they call “Of Course I Still Love You.”
I love the sound of the old beetle engines. I don't know of any other engine that sounds like it. Your talking Sarah is more than 50% of why we all watch you. Your other carrier should be a comedian.
Hey Sarah, you were right about the UFO 👽 😁 It was a SpaceX rocket they launch from Vandenberg AFB. 💗From Ireland🇮🇪
Nothing is boring when it includes your face in it
Just for the win
With all due respect to James Brown, we simply must acknowledge and appreciate the 'Hardest Working Garage Scientist' in show business for full spectrum 'Contentainment'.
I live for these updates. Great work, Sarah, Angel, and Charlie!
Yay Sarah took my recommendation on that VDO/Continental radio. It works really well and I've been yapping about it since the URQ.
hay is that fish bacon - nice move, it has that everlasting taste to it that add perfection to the fish
Nice work Sarah, hope this helps with the repairs to your Magic finger.🤣
😎🍺👍🇦🇺
On Thursday, October 27 at 6:14 p.m. PT, SpaceX launched 53 Starlink satellites to low-Earth orbit from Space Launch Complex 4E (SLC-4E) at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.
Congratulations Sarah, all the hard graft, stress and OCDness has been worth it. A truly magnificent achievement. Personally your channel ranks as my favourite for entertainment and information. Long may you carry on!,,,❤❤
nothing better than your excitement when it started!!!
The thrust/exhaust from a fighter jet is being lit up by light y'all can't see.
WOW Sarah, I know something you as an ex-aeronautics mech didn't know 😐 I am so proud of myself 😆..😉
Angel Foodcake in German is "Engel Nahrungsmittelkuchen".
It’s not like you have been slackin’! That airplane is redlined. We know you put in the work with or without video. At least the long timers do. Hooray for Charlie to the rescue! Angel Food Cake is in there plugging along with you. You got this and you know it. Cheers all!
You and Angel are a great team. Really enjoy watching y'all work together!
Sarah teaches Angel a little German, and Angel teaches Sarah a little Spanish. Teamwork!
I really would not be surprized to see you with your own show on Netflix. I would watch it. Awesome job and great video
How you manage to do all these projects and not break all those nails off is almost as impressive as how completely AWESOME Ragnar turned out ... some lucky viewer is gonna be celebratating big time. Another great video, makes me remembering my first car, 72 VW Beetle that was a rusted out fun bomb.
They’re my real nail, so breaking it off is pretty hard.
Sarah, with your humor, wit, and charm your videos will ALWAYS be entertaining.
It cranked right up! So damn impressive how this is turning out! Sarah's the Real Angel.....
Rally Fighter 💪🏼 💪🏼 💪🏼 RALLY FIGHTER 💪🏼 💪🏼 you would go nuts over the way it was built. You could show everyone how it was put together. And you could do some major off roading stuff.
It's always a great feeling hearing an engine start for the first time after having it out for maintenance! And good job on calling Angel by his actual name 90% of the time.
Thanks!
Happy clean out your fridge of your old hot sauce packets and ketchups, mix in a little candy into a bowl....kids won't know, parents will use them....its a win-win situation 👍
So.. I don’t know about your fridge, but I don’t have old packets of anything in there 😂
@@SarahnTuned Oh...I was referring to mine, a few left over sauces and Ketchups make for great fluff in the candy bowl once a year 😊
Are you seroius!? You are a clean freak and don't have a floor creeper!? Lol I love how it started first crank 👍👊
I still enjoy that you show the real side of car restoration. All the hard work is what people actually experience restoring cars.
That came out of Lompoc CA
There's like a base there that launches missiles into the sky and that came through my city Oxnard California I actually saw myself .
the rubber you cut out of the dash for the radio, cut into four sections and put under the feet of your air compressor to help quiet it. hope this helps
The content and how you film it is what makes you interesting and standout.
Congrats Sarah!! Congrats to the winner.. Hope you enjoy it as much as we liked watching it being built! Cant wait for the next one! :)
Really great Duluth underwear Ad at the beginning ! Add a Cool NEW LED dome light ? Light it UP!
Nice work. You guys can be proud of what you've accomplished with Ragnar. Looks great with the off road tires and lift too.
9:44 rockstar moment
Those Continental head units are are very popular with owners of vintage 80s and 90s BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, and VWs.
Excited to see the beetle bug run, I gained a lot of knowledge about VW bug repair and build process, you go girl !
Oscillating tool would have made short, controlled work of the head unit opening.
Starlink launch from Vandenberg. Neat.
You and Angel as your sidekick are just super awesome!
You Rock!
Don’t Ever forget it!
Sarah, great video as always. Don’t complain about yourself. You are the one why we watch with all different aspects.
As per Sam Davis, congratulations on it firing right up (started really easily!!). Can't wait to see the first drive. Great work from you (and Angel and Charlie).
I saw a 71 Beetle with painted wheels and chrome center hubcaps. I think that it was the same cement color as this one. The only VW Beetles I've been in or on were abandoned shells. One was on a property that our family rented back in '79, and the other was rediscovered after loggers clear cut a forest that we came across while camping and hunting. I learned to drive in an '84 Jetta (automatic) and an '88 Jetta with a manual. Always liked the older VW's
Rigid? really learning in an automatic wow boring like chrome center hubcaps that's lame here is a fact they don't hold the wheels on & totally useless just like bumper stickers don't hold the bumpers on
no need to apologize about your talking we loves your content
I enjoyed this video. I didn't notice more talking, or whatever. I greatly enjoy your commentary. I laugh out loud much less watching other car restoration videos.
As much as you sometime hated this series, I loved it. Thank you for all the smiles. I apologize for all the gawking.
I watch this channel 90% because of Sarah, 10% for content. So it really doesn’t matter to me which projects you work on.
