The little one (F 11)said it best after seeing you bouncing around:
"Forget the car I'd rather have the builder so we can make lots & lots of cars" 🤣
OK, if NOTHING else, you bouncing in the box simply made my day! I belly laughed out loud, thanks sarah, I needed that.
rest of the Video was great too!
Now I know why my kids so enjoyed boxes and not the contents...
It's the entertainment factor that makes Sarah's chanel if you for the car's you will stay for the rest
Same! More coffee for Sarah!
Very nice use of CAD to design. (Cardboard Aided Design) :-)
My Daughter used to do that with boxes back in the 70's. Thanks for bring back some Happy Memories.
I had to go back to watch the beginning of the video twice, Sarah bouncing in the box is just too funny!!😂😂
You really did a great job. Someone will be very lucky
Also - love seeing Charlie and Angel in the mix. Keep coming back for videos guys!!
Enjoying this series and trying to avoid talking to the owner of the '60s Beetle rusting away near my house to prevent purchase
Those are the ones with project cars that they never want to sell but never get finished or even started with them while the cars fall victims to enthropy, right?
The advantage of a Beetle is that you can find every part you will ever need and you don’t need but about a dozen tools. I’ve had a couple with the last one being the front of a 64 and the back of a 66. While I didn’t do the search for perfection that Sarah did, it only took a couple of long weekends and a few long nights to get it mated, running, and road worthy. I drove it everyday for 18 months and then sold it to a cute young lady who was still driving it three years later when I left town. Now this was in Florida and we didn’t have much need for heat. If I lived up north, the need for a 15 minute warm up cycle before you got interior heat would be a deal breaker. Oh, and no AC wasn’t the greatest thing but with the windows up and the quarter window blowing directly on you at 45 it was ok. I was in my 20s and in college so I could live without AC.
Buy it
My neighbour is selling one😮😮
@@skookumbuilds3282 Yes, it'll give you a lifetime(?) of things to do in your spare time.
Your choice to paint or make everything black except what was painted in the OEM color was a great one that is paying off huge as this car comes together. The contrast is great and really shows off how straight the car is. Nice choice and nice work.
Cheers.
Thanks!
My Ragnar shirt came Saturday and it's awesome! Thanks for all of the hard work on this great Bug! If we win Ragnar I am going to my local Tacoma Screw Products, Inc. and getting you hooked up with some hardware.
still waiting on my shirt but... hoping i win so i can drag that car to NH and drive Sarah nuts lol
I love that Beetle Bug you have done such a nice job restoring it, Sarah It is beautiful like you are. 👍😎
This must be the "mature, grown up Sarah" video! Loved it!
Sarah -in- box? Lol!
Great looking seats Sara. The beetle looks amazing. Can’t wait for the finale. Lucky Lucky person winning this. Till next time ✌️
Ok, Sarah-in-a-box was the most delightful thing I've seen on this channel in a minute. I don't want you to stop sharing the tough parts, but seeing you have fun is a big part of being a fan of this channel. If you are working yourself to death it is harder for that to come through. We love you girl, take care!
When you are holding a heavy and sharp-edged piece of sheet metal over your head by yourself, my anxiety disorder flares it’s ugly head! 😱 VW bug engines are supposed to sound like a couple dozen squirrels in tap shoes on a treadmill, so I’d say Charlie got that carb dialed in. 😉 Thank you! 👍👍👍
Hey Sarah, don't want to criticize the skid plate butt, and it's kind of a big one. The engine on this cool bug cools by air flowing under and around the oil pan. I've made this mistake in the past
Glad your hair has recovered from the 'glue incident' - although Sarah with dreadlocks would also be a fun garage dweller too...
It didn’t, it’s badly damaged. Can’t tell unless you know what you’re looking for.. or just have long hair yourself
Angel Food Cake has earned his own CZcams channel after this build.
He has one already, and restored a ‘65 Mustang fastback on it. Channel is called Rookie Pilot
Had to watch 3 times to get all my kitchening chores done with Sarah. I Need longer videos.
Regarding filming welding, consider putting a (cheap but reputable) UV filter on the front end of the lens. That will not only protect the optics of the lens from flying slag, it'll keep the sensor from heating up & burning from the UV emissions of the welder. I understand it's common for pro photographers/videographers to use this technique to reduce need for lens caps, too. Ragnar is looking great! I like how you managed sturdy but slim skid plates to keep the ground clearance.
I'm no pro, but a basic UV filter is like buying SuperFeet for your hiking boots, you just do it.
VW valve chirp. Nothing else sounds like that. Really digging those tires. Please mention what they are sometime. The conclusion of this project will be both exciting and sad.
Yes, I was about to say that the loud screeching sound is called a VW chirp - just one more endearing feature of a Beetle.
The high pitched “belt squealing” sound, is the fan lightly touching the shroud.
Wow, serious skills Sarah! Angel is no slacker either. This is going to be one totally sweet VW.👍
Happy Sunday Sarah!!!
Someone will really have to try to bang those skidplates on something, since the car has oodles of ground clearance, but definitely completes the look and function, great work.
High5 to Charlie and Angel!
Stay excellent!!!😎
SARAH!!!!!
Big smile when you were bouncing around in that box lol 😂
Thanks for the video Sarah 🌻🐧
FYI : horizontal wall structural members are called "girts" . Roof members are "purlins" :)
Yes, original "Käfer" sound! 🤣
Bugs do bug noises.
I think the rear skid plate would fit better if you build your own!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Looking forward to the live stream! Its been awhile since you've done one!
This series has been awesome 👌 can't wait to see what happens next 😀
LMAO 🤣 SARAH working on cars with lovely looking nails, is like MARIAH CAREY wearing heels while exercising.😆💞 Sarah and Angel are a perfect match for this channel. ( Both are adorable)
I'm retired AF... I dream of a bench stock as well
Your perseverance is off the wall It's awesome that you just keep going sometimes I get tired of this stuff Thanks for the motivation.
Yay! Highlight of my day when a beetle update comes
🏁
That engine bay sure looks clean, this is an awesome project.
The tweeting sound is actually the blind spot monitoring. Here's how it works: you get on the highway and get up to a nice conservative 60mph cruising speed. Next, open up the vent windows. When a solid object is next to you, you'll hear the tweeting sound reflecting off it and you'll know to stay in your lane. (As if you were going to get out of the right lane, ha.)
🎶The more you know 🎶
The photo of you and Ragnar posed outside from the previous video is a favorite of mine. After today's clock change, I'm ready to move to Arizona where that torture has been outlawed.
great video but i would take note that the fins on the bottom of the car being blocked could throw off the entire cooling of it
All you have to do for the tire rubbing issue is shave them a bit. Easy button!
10:30-10:35, you must radius the skidplates, so they do not touch and scratch the rear fenders!
Cheers.
That little chirping sound in the exhaust note is not in all exhaust systems. The stock systems with the little chrome pipes are the worst! Sounds like they got a whistle up its butt. A 4-into-1 header with a single free-flow muffler will have a deep throaty sound that sounds like a Porsche. The Thrush system with two outlets is the best. My 71 had one on it. Going down the HWY at 65 sounded like a Kamikaze!! Not loud but rummbly! Great sounding Bug.
That hazard light switch brings back the feels. The details. You do the details.
I would watch episodes on shop goals and brackets. Mostly brackets.
We used to call that natural Beetle sound "chainy". Like loose chains running around a pully.
This is getting exciting!!! You're almost complete, and one of us followers may be the winner soon of this awesome bug!
Diaiane Pimenta in Brazil was doing a home restoration of a nasty rare VW Passat! There’s nothing quite as satisfying as women skilled in car restoration bringing them back to life. You guys are a credit to the profession.
That old gnarly rag was why this car was named "Ragnar".
I'll show myself out.
I have loved ever second of this video series and build, the video quality, editing, content, and of course the stars themselves Sarah and Ragnar!
You have crazy cool and amazing skills Sarah, very talented. Whoever wins this build will be very lucky and fortunate to have such a cool car!
Those skid plates are awesome but I noticed the rear one covers up the cooling fins/heat sink on the bottom of the engine 13:09 . Maybe air can get in above it but I think it will also radiate the heat right back into it. I'm loving this build!
Your going to need a lot of paint to cover over that weld there.😆 I like that skid plate though. Pretty cool. Nice work all around. I love those cars.
Sarah jumping into her own box and then jumping around......life is great....lol. Love you stuff.
10 for 10 on the bouncy box. 👏🏻
Loving the efforts and attention to detail.
Purlins hold the roof on, Girts hold the wall panel, what you are referring to as dusty
HINT on building up stock! When I ran my electronics shop in the 80ies, If I had to order a part for a project, IC, Cap, Resistor, etc. and I ONLY needed one I would ALWAYS order two or more! Almost NEVER was there an Old Maid Part left in the shop! AND with the parts on hand I did not have to wait for a delivery! Oh and if you scrap something, take the time to steal the hardware instead of throwing it in the can! Free bolts and screws ARE THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!
OMG those welds! 😱
Hey Sarah, glad to see you’re having fun even more fun than usual. Have a great one🐧🐧🐧👍
The chirping noise comes from the muffler, sounds like how the original "Fuscas" do when they have restricted original systems.
A more open system can make the little straight sounds more "valente"\hungrier .
Just toss on an acorn nut on the seat sliders, door side bolt end. Tip for drilling through carpet. Use an electric pen type of soldering iron to melt bolt holes through the carpet. It stinks a bit but makes a clean hole that resists fraying and unraveling of the carpet. My aunt would also use a micro torch to melt any cut edges also.
Only Sarah headbutts a plate of metal to show how thick it is. I love that!
Nice build but not understand snow tires in Arizona. Lol
Those are not snow tires.
Yes very iconic sound from the exhaust.
I really like this build. This bug looks and sounds amazing!
Great work!! glad you changed out the plastic fuel filtering ;)
Just the greatest 😊❤️
This is far and away my favorite of your projects
Awesome as always. Mostly serious with a smudge of offbeat humor. I can't believe you spent so much time on those skid plates.
You need to get a set of step drills. They make drilling through thin sheet metal much easier.
I have tons of them. They’re like using a sledgehammer when you need a tiny punch.
Your soundtracks are adorable Sarah. That is all. Keep up the great work.
Great work! Can't wait to see it finished and driving.
Sounds of my childhood, the whistling of the VW air cooled exhaust. That sound use to be everywhere. An odd thing is exhausts got replaced occasionally and sounded completely normal and quiet for about a month. I guess the exhaust would break in then wham the whistle returns. It was mandatory and something seemed wrong if it wasn't there. Only exhaust without it were the Baja bug single trumpet exhaust. Not much inside them to fall apart. No baffles just straight out.
“Sarah’s in a Box” - Has a nice ring to it, could be the brand name of a new Gluten Free cookie 🍪
Such as awesome you did on this bug. But you always do an awesome job on all of your upgrades and builds. Keep up the great job with your productivity of your videos and funny banter. 😅😂😊
Beetles don't have to chirp. I built a dual port 1600 into an fully balanced 1835 with hydraulic lifters. Dual Webber Carbs and a BOSH 009 distributor topped it off. SMOOTH!
So exciting, getting nearer to the finish line.
Well someone is going to have a lovely bug to tootle around in. Shop nut's and bolts storage, I had just a cheap 43 drawer storage unit on the wall, started with one when I left that shop it was up to six. Lots of drawers looking for that elusive bolt or clipper doodle.
Crazy amount of work in this vid, Sarah! Honorable mentions to AFC and Charlie! * salute*
Loved the TT build but I have really enjoyed this build. Hoping it’s mine soon😊
A Sarah in a box. I could only wish for that be delivered 😜🔥😍
i enjoy all your builds and work, but this one is an incredible build and it looks amazing!!
I had a 78 transporter and yeah, it sort of whistles when it goes. :)
Sarah at least I have a Tea shirt, your doing better then I could, I can,t believe what you went thru on that durty transmission!
Love this restomod version of the bug.
Thanks Sarah. Another fun-filled installment.
Cheers.
Damn.. I wish I lived in the STATES so I could have a chance to win this.. love this car! (Canadian)
You Bouncing in the Box made my day too! Are you putting the rear bumper back on? 😀😎👍🇨🇦
I have said it before, but you really know your stuff. Great work and content Sarah 👏 👌 🙌 👍.
I love how you strive to be self sufficient!!!
The sound is not just the exhaust. The high frequency click is they lifters because they aren't hydraulic and there is a gap that Sarah set on a previous video.
Whistle biscuits are awesome for weld prep. Another important thing that's amazing, especially for car repair...
*Weld-through primer*
It's amazing stuff, and worth using.
Great video Sarah 👍👍🏁🏁
Sarah had alot of fun in that box. Alot.
thank goodness the nails are ok👏👏🥰
Thank you Sarah, you made my day seeing you bouncing in a cardboard box. 😂👍👏
I love all your videos, Ragnar is awesome 🙂👍
Sarah it looks better than when it was new.
Love your channel, very impressive work.
You were quite correct: direct videoing your welding is >very< bad for your camera sensor. It could cause permanent damage.
Great work on my Beetle Thanks again
I am a bit concerned with the rear skid plate covering an air-cooled engine. The build is great and per usual, I enjoy your attention to detail, just wondering if there will be a cooling issue with that. Thought worth mentioning.
What ? The skid plate is below the sheet metal that vents the fan air blowing over the heads.
Zero negative effect, it doesn’t impede the natural path of airflow, If anything it’ll help.
@@SarahnTuned so now that I can have your ear...
Remember this for next time..
They make a 3 in body lift kit for the beetle..
You take the body off the pan, this lift kit sits on top of the pan then you bolt the body back on using longer bolts.
Jbugs makes it..
@@SarahnTuned is the skid plate mounted too the engine ( rubber mounted ) at one end ,and chassis (solid ) at the other end , or am i missing something ? .... cool build all the same , nice work
I have enjoyed this series, well done. The VW looks just right.
