    It's about time I see some good plumbers. I was a plumber for many years in the military. I would have to say this guy is very impressive. He speaks the truth about plumbing. And doesn't exaggerate.I love it keep on trucking

    That delta valve was designed that way to help absord shock from the faucet shutting off fast. It was also designed to be removed without cutting a wall open. The straps are not necessary.

      It's always customary to screw over the next guy. Also if it breaks that's job security for the next contractor.

    Brass destroys galvanized straps i use 2 hole copper straps

      Just braze on some brass straps behind the valve. You can use the acet torch for the fittings as well. No need for solder.

      Yep. Copper plated tape or some copper two hole strap is what was needed here. small detail, but important detail.

    Not needed. Once the face plat is installed there wouldn't be a wiggle. I installed Symmons, though, and they're sturdy with just the two screws

      @@tedmcnair9709 Wouldn't you still have to access the threaded nuts to disconnect the pex, so in any case, you'd have to cut an opening?

    The extra tension those straps put on that soft cast brass mixing valve is a recipe for disaster.
    That valve doesn't need to be lashed down like that.

    Setting the delta shower valve, as recommended in the instructions, using the black plastic plate causes the valve handle to stick out waaaaay to far. Personally I think it looks like ass. Don't use a 2x4 to the back of the studs to mount it on, use a 1 x 4 or something. Thank me later

    If you stubbed out with copper you would have better material to help secure the valve body.

      @@urjnlegend actually, a copper strap will hold up better in this particular case because the galvanized strap is going to corrode fairly quickly due to being in contact with the brass. Placing the zinc-coated strap so it is not in contact with brass and using stainless steel screws would work fine though.

    Man, the person that installed mine didn’t even use the built in mount, they just left it suspended by the cpvc. I went to change my cartridge because it was leaking and snapped all three pieces of cpvc clean off.

    That's the only thing I don't like about the Delta shower valve is that it's not real solid when you install it on the board you have to add strapping I wish they would redesign it other than that I like Delta

      Yeah I only put Kohler in my properties and try to use the same valve across all of them to keep it simple but the valve body has screw holes cast into it and it's super solid.

    That's not what mine looks like its just pbc pipes that are very loose with no handles i use clamps to turn the knobs and the shower head is very loose

    Do you absolutely need to use 3/4 inch pex for a shower legit question because I ordered half-inch pex for my stand up shower.. and for my kids hallway, bathroom tub

      No. That's ½" man. We reduced down before we ever got to the valve body. No issues ever.

    Way better ,… if you sweat copper it gets super ridged if clamped … but I suppose ur method w/ pex is best of both worlds

      Yup. Made the average person able to save $200/hour for things that can easily be done now with a few tools.
      And if there’s a leak later, a quick replacement of some Pex and a clamp, and back in business.

      $200? I don't know where you live but I need to move there. After overhead it's more like $50 that actually stays in the Plumber's pocket. I charge half that and after overhead I'd be lucky to make $20 per hour. @@No_bread-and-circuses

    This guy must be a newbie. He forgot that the round crown cover that goes after the tile is installed is bolted down with the two long screws making the valve housing to be solid and firm. Lol.
    Btw those straps don’t mix with copper metals. Electrolysis will occur damaging the metal.
