  • Hey all Wolf Lord Rho here!
Today we discuss the turmoil within the remnants of the Night Lords Legion. As Brother fights brother...
Spoiler Warning to begin the events we are discussing today are from the Warhammer 40,000 novel "Blood Reaver" by Aaron Dembski-Bowden. As always I really recommend you read the story for yourself first. As that's the best way to enjoy the lore, for yourself! Not only that we help to support the great Games Workshop and Black Library. Because without them we don't have this amazing lore to talk about! Link: www.blacklibrary.com/warhamme...

The Night Lords are the lowest of the low. They don't believe in anything. Faith, Honor, Brotherhood.

While the Khan and the Raven love freedom, they don't use that freedom to kill people for absolutely no reason. Their power on the individual level rival and even above the wolf. But they can never think how to use them in any meaningful purpose. Even the chaos God can't really use them. It's the mistake that the Emperor didn't just kill Konrad and Angron and tell the legion he couldn't find them or was too late.

Instead, he let Konrad loose, doing all the holocaust stuff and probably even encourage him to do so. Konrad and Angron are emp biggest mistakes. The emp considered them tools but knowing how fucked up their heads were he should had either lock them up or get rid of them. You don't shoot a gun after knowing you have left it neglected to the point of being rusty, it will blow up in your face. Instead he insisted on letting them loose across the galaxy. In the end, most world conquered by those two end up falling to chaos anyway. But that's not something to be surprised about. Perty and Morty were less messed up and emp still managed to turn those 2 insane. The way I see it, emp would fail raising a dog much less raising a child. Even if they were not scattered, should these guys grow with emp and realized that they were used by him, they would grow doubt and some of them would still fall to chaos.

The Nightlords pretty much are their own enemy when it comes down to it. They were never unified, restructured or even accepted by their Primarch when it comes down to it. Without that unity and control they're honestly in a position where because of their actions they're irredeemable but because they haven't sworn fealty to a Chaos God they're not corrupted like the other Legions sworn to Chaos. Hell even the Iron Warriors are far gone, I mean we all know about the Daemonculaba. With the right leadership they could be reformed into something better then what they are now but it's tall order let's be real
They were treated as a necessary form of warfare during the Great Crusade that because of the influence of Nostromo just devolved into a mob of deranged monsters. Seeing them like this now just shows how lost and broken they are without some kind of guiding influence to make them more then just small groups of warring gangs.
The Nightlords were doomed from the start I feel like and worst part? The Emperor knew that I bet
I bet he knew that once things were complete for the Imperium, he would do to the The Nightlords what he did to the Thunder Warriors
For some Legions that probably would have been for the best fate compared to where they are now

    • @Fourtytwo4242

O 100% the emperor was going to purge some legions but not all of them, Primarchs who at least tried to teach their Legions other ways to live would be fine. But it also would not be after the great crusade, it was clear the Emperor was building his own upgraded space marine. So something was going to happen after the crusade, what we will never know.

Even the Terran Night Lords were criminals from the prison sinks of Terra. Interesting to think about the intended purpose of the Legion, and how it all starts to show that the emperor didn’t intend for the Astartes to be a long term establishment, which has always made me sympathetic to Traitor Marines fighting for revenge against the Emperor’s treachery. I think there’s something to be said about the loyalist Primarchs realizing this as well but refusing to let the fallen legions take their revenge on the innocent imperial citizens.

Russ caged the wolf in tradition and discipline, in storied song and heroic deeds, Angron cared nothing for the XII and merely mutilated them with the butchers nails just as he had been, turning their aggression and hatred for authority up to 11.

It’s kinda been the theme of the 8 legion of their horrendous action with no upholding to their rule so in theory never believed they had any other rule except their primarch similar to how Conrad only believed in one way that in turn didn’t hold responsible for except the end of it

Talos "we cannot afford more of our legion to die, we have already lost too many Night Lords, therfore Uzas must live for now"
Also Talos *"Then you shall have your blood price"*
I know the book itself talks about how Talos was never a good leader but that was just poor decision making.

    • @greypilgrim228
      @greypilgrim228 Před 3 lety

It's more of a power play than anything, doesn't mean Talos doesn't still believe in not loosing any more Night Lords. Think of it like this:
1)Talos hates seeing more Night Lords killed, and has loyalty to his squad, his Company, and his legion, in that order.
      2) Third claw are demanding to take one of first claw from Talos, granted he's loosing it to Khorne, but he's still one of first claw. If Talos lets them take him, then that puts third claw above first claw in the pecking order, which means they'll demand something from them again and again since he'll back down. It's a sign of disrespect against Talos and his squad. How long before they demand another brother be sacrificed, and another?
      3) Taking out third claw in one go for a mark of disrespect and attempted attack, sends a clear message to all the other claws in the company that Talos is not to be fucked with, and potentially gives Talos more leverage to manipulate situations in the future to further unify the Legion once more, avoiding blood shed.
