Minimalism isn’t the same as being a cheapskate, she spend almost $200 on sweaters. It’s about not spending money just because you feel pressured but because you actually need what your buying. Or even buying things because you want them not because you want to fit in or not be pressured. I don’t like eating out because it can be up to a 300% mark up. It just doesn’t make since to spend that much on food. More people should be like this and not have to worry about being called cheap especially after everything that has happened this year.
Got it so: spend less on transportation n take a bus everywhere, find a lower cost alternative to nightlife w friends, budget what you spend B4 GOING OUT, do not spend on trendy clothing but DO spend on a color scheme and classic patterns that won't go outta style, and finally, whatever foods you like to spend too much on - try making them at home instead. These are all really solid ways to save! I just wish taking the bus was safer in my city 🥺

there’s a Dutch saying, ‘goedkoop is duurkoop’ or in other words: cheap is more expensive than expensive. cheap things break so easily, you have to keep re buying them. by the time you’ve bought the third one you’ve spent more than the expensive durable version would’ve cost. this is how I save. I save and wait a little longer until I can buy a good quality version of the things that I need, and then I never have to buy it again.

I managed to pay for everything I needed such as food, clothes, school supplies and transportation with financial aid money at about $2,000 in a YEAR. One single fucking year that is all I spent. I cut off all friends and moved 4 hours away from my high school. I drastically changed after that experience, my life was doing well but I was always in constant state of sadness & hopelessness not knowing what to do from there on out. Now I feel better every day more often than not but financially I'm fucked if I don't get my shit together. Thanks for the reminder! 🤗

It's so weird for me to hear that buses are seen as such a bad thing in the U.S. Here in switzerland both managers and students use the bus/train and it's absolutely a normal thing to do. I believe people actually enjoy using public transportation to go to work because you can talk with friends or beighbors using the same connection, you can prepare for work/school or you can just chill. It is because of the class system. I live in North America. In Canada it isn't as bad to take transit but it is a view here for you to drive a car because the length of time to get from home to your job could be 30 minutes to 2 hours (one trip). The car takes 30 minutes max. It is viewed inconvenient and only mainly in the city. That's also why older movies the girl or guy who turns 16 always wishes to have a car or a boyfriend who has car. And modern day movies the girl just has a car. Just imagine you having to transit an hour or 2 to go to a house party and then doing that again when you try to get home. Born in the 1980s, I still have friends who we would travel together by bus or skytrain; we get to chat and etc., but the bottom line is, you're poor of you ride the bus.
In my country 80 percent of students use the bus since most of them live away from school, there is no other transportation to their neighbourhood and a taxi will cost too much. Buses would have been fun if old people did not go there because they go inside at the time when the students change shifts which means too many people in buses so it is hard to pay for a ticket and sometimes move at all since there are not enough seats, usually only the adults use cars but those who do not have cars use the bus

I was working FT and just quit, but-- I manage two salon social media accounts as a pt job, provide video editing for someone, my youtube brings in $1200-$1700 ad revenue now, I've collected $350 by requesting payment for ads (like this wig)...The trick is spending money *after* you save it, not saving what is left after you spend. I hit rock bottom to learn this. It doesn't come easy.

When you think about in a way, we are all going to be saving a lot of money by staying home. Woohooo! but great sound advice professor lol, I remember doing this when I started college and didn't have to pay for rent. I managed to pay for everything I needed such as food, clothes, school supplies and transportation with financial aid money at about $2,000 in a YEAR. One single fucking year that is all I spent. I cut off all friends and moved 4 hours away from my high school. I drastically changed after that experience, my life was doing well but I was always in constant state of sadness & hopelessness not knowing what to do from there on out. Now I feel better every day more often than not but financially I'm fucked if I don't get my shit together.

It's so weird for me to hear that buses are seen as such a bad thing in the U.S. Here in switzerland both managers and students use the bus/train and it's absolutely a normal thing to do. I believe people actually enjoy using public transportation to go to work because you can talk with friends or beighbors using the same connection, you can prepare for work/school or you can just chill.

It is because of the class system. I live in North America. In Canada it isn't as bad to take transit but it is a view here for you to drive a car because the length of time to get from home to your job could be 30 minutes to 2 hours (one trip). The car takes 30 minutes max. It is viewed inconvenient and only mainly in the city. That's also why older movies the girl or guy who turns 16 always wishes to have a car or a boyfriend who has car. And modern day movies the girl just has a car. Just imagine you having to transit an hour or 2 to go to a house party and then doing that again when you try to get home.
Born in the 1980s, I still have friends who we would travel together by bus or skytrain; we get to chat and etc., but the bottom line is, you're poor of you ride the bus.
In my country 80 percent of students use the bus since most of them live away from school, there is no other transportation to their neighbourhood and a taxi will cost too much. Buses would have been fun if old people did not go there because they go inside at the time when the students change shifts which means too many people in buses so it is hard to pay for a ticket and sometimes move at all since there are not enough seats, usually only the adults use cars but those who do not have cars use the bus

Despite being in LA, its actually easy for me to not spend. I go to the beach with snacks often, I walk around the mall and window-shop. I was working FT and just quit, but-- I manage two salon social media accounts as a pt job, provide video editing for someone, my youtube brings in $1200-$1700 ad revenue now, I've collected $350 by requesting payment for ads (like this wig)...The trick is spending money *after* you save it, not saving what is left after you spend. I hit rock bottom to learn this. It doesn't come easy.

Honestly, being an introvert saves one a lot of money. I travel a few times a year but I’m budget wise and often times I am alone and enjoying myself abroad. I have savings because I don’t party or hangout too often. This year I will master the art of not eating out so often and watch my savings explode.💪🏽
