    The actual No 1 is a double annoyance: Resurrecting Torrent
    Step 1: Get a message informing you that you are about to use a flask to resurrect Torrent (which will lock everything but basic movement until accepted/declined)
    Step 2: It's defaulted to NO (making you swap to the D-Pad, so not even able to move anymore, to change it to YES)

      I'm convinced this dialog option is a developer troll. There's NO situation in which Torrent has died that there's time to go through confirmation dialogs, especially for a resource that's just going to regenerate when you die. Like, yeah, that dragon just mashed Torrent into a fine paste, did a ton of damage to me and is preparing to cover the entire area with fire , but let's carefully consider whether I can afford to use one of my remaining flasks on the only thing that can get me to safety.

    • @AcidDotDrop
      @AcidDotDrop Před 2 lety +18

      @@v_1d10_t You mean a downside like spending on of your own flasks?
      And you do understand that Torrent can be one shoted by several attacks, making torrent heals irrelevant in that scenario?
      I use an Xbox controller and no, just because I can tilt the stick while using the d pad, doesn't equate to deliberate moving. If you wanna find excuses, go for it but that doesn't change the fact how some controlls are badly optimised.
      All they had to do was default it to yes

    • @AcidDotDrop
      @AcidDotDrop Před 2 lety +14

      @@v_1d10_t That's what you are doing, I refuted both your claims as nonsensical and irrelevant. And instead of giving me a counter argument, you accuse me of what you are doing... You complain about my statement and how dare I to not agree with you.
      You have the chance to proof me wrong, do it.
      If torrent is killed by a one shot you are thrown off it, are vulnerable and in order to resummon it, have to spend one of your flasks to resurrect it. So you are stunned for a few seconds and use two flasks to heal yourself and resurrect torrent... what more punishment do you need? How is the structure of the message justifiable and an enhancement of the gaming experience?
      Go ahead, it's your moment to show me how my assessment is wrong and you are right and that you are not just making excuses to avoid criticism towards a game you seemingly don't wanna see criticized .

I fought my way out but was still in the middle of Caelid, and I don’t think I had any sites of grace open in Limgrave. So I had to traverse Caelid at level 9 with NO map or knowledge of the game and had the worst time of it. But it made me stronger as a player and gave me this EPIC tier story to tell about it.

The journal could be broken down into sections which could include NPC dialogue, texts from sword fields, the cryptic dialogue with the various ghosts you encounter, all of your recipes learned (maybe turn the cookbooks into a usable item that adds the entries into the crafting section of the journal), and also move the notes and tutorial info out of the inventory and into their own section of the journal. Not just faster or slower specific attacks, but also actively held timings, so they could mix things up with the exact same move.

But in unfortunately for those who's quest lines your trying to complete, one you trigger an event that causes then to move to their next location, then it becomes difficult to remember where your supposed to go, and what your supposed to do. A few of these are resolved, like NPCs are marked on the map after discovery, and actions are always the first selected option, above messages and such, so even if a message is at the bottom of a ladder, go to the ladder and press triangle or whatever, and you'll start instantly climbing the ladder. You have to cycle through the lesser options to read a message. Same with levers, doors, items, etc. The important action is the first option.

I will tolerate seeing 100 "Try finger, but hole" messages just to see the one that points me in the direction of a critical, largely optional treasure (weapon, incantation, talisman, etc) I would've missed otherwise. But players putting messages in locations that get in the way of playing the game itself is the most irritating part to me. They put them under ladders, right at the very top of them, right next to levers, i've opened a few treasure chests and is met with a message in my face! In most cases the interactive object takes priority over reading the message but every once in a while trying to jump on a ladder before getting sliced in the back feels like a juggling act. Flipping through the option of reading the message to climbing the ladder or running up to a lever and reading the message instead of pulling it while the wave of enemies I ran past start to catch up.

    I, too, quickly learned in Elden Ring: to make the fight against Margit easier, faster and more efficient you shouldn't fight him too early, but have leveled up the character and its main weapon a bit and gained experience with the combat system, but that goes quite quickly ... then you should go ahead at the beginning of the fight at the portal and summon the NPC Sorcerer Rogier to help, also a robust spirit ashes, if possible with several spirits, and you should definitely have purchased "Margit's Shackle" from the NPC Patches beforehand (see WIKI) and use it next to Margit in the fight three times before Margit gets his glowing hammer ... and then this fight isn't as bad as it's always portrayed ... Godrick as the final boss in this castle isn't as violent as feared either, you can summon the NPC Nepheli Loux, Warrior and spirit ashes for help as well (see WIKI) ... and if you act agile and smart, you may prefer to use a fast weapon without long animations, stay close to the boss if possible and don't just run away most of the time, then these fights are over relatively quickly ... doing all this I killed them both in my first try with my different characters ... only imo all the other tricks and tips confuse more than they help ... Elden Ring offers all these possibilities, the developers didn't do it for nothing, so you can and should use all of them as a player, it can be that simple
    to No. 5: it wouldn't have hurt if the developers had at least integrated a diary so that it's easier to remember what you've already done or which quest lines you've triggered, instead I now have a lot of handwritten notes so I don't lose track, for me this is my biggest problem in Elden Ring ... but on the other hand, I don't have any problems with occasionally providing information in the WIKI or here on CZcams when, despite all my efforts, I really don't know what to do and that doesn't reduce my enjoyment of the game, on the contrary it protects me from too much frustration and guesswork ... but that's nothing why I have to "hate" the game because it's entirely up to me how I deal with it
    yes, those annoying portal traps, but it's very simple, either you instantly roll back a long way when such fog traps appear, or in the new area - and otherwise - you just run away or out as quickly as possible instead of always fighting everything that comes your way and what you don't know yet

    One thing that drives me nuts in this game, is, when you're knocked prone by a boss, it takes way too much time for you to stand back up, during which time you have no chance because the boss continues to pulverize you. So flippin' annoying.

Not to mention summons, the free 30 ish levels at the start of the game from big dragon in caelid, the fact you can +9 unique weapons before margit, the fact you can simply walk past him and godrick and go straight into the liruinia, atlas plateu, etc.

    The thing with Margit is that the game literally spends an age showing you a myriad of new things. You're meant to take ALL of the new things and blend them together. There's a NPC summon right outside the door (first one you see of its kind), there's a "summon stuff" shrine next to THAT, consumables to throw at him, etc. While yes, you have to do SOME exploring, I've not needed to "grind to level 93" or whatever before attempting him. He's cake at this point.
    ...but early on, that "oh shit!" moment of first seeing him comes with a wave of panic, and you'd better have learned those lessons well that the game has been showing you.

After those two attempts I roamed the map picked up some knowledge, weapons and levels before taking him out with only minor difficulty.

    Dark souls vet here so right of the rip I hooked a left an b lined in right to the chest that toile me to Selina cave then spent the next 80 hours wandering around the lands between murdering every boss I could find never getting any achievements wonder where all the lords are hiding and at this point I was a pretty high level and got to a gate that said I needed to defeat two shard bearers to proceed so i quick went to the round table hold to gather all the information I could then back to the first step and the white mask told me where to go, then I realized I had passed two lords already don’t know what possessed me to go around them but I was way to over leveled and completely smashed Stormvile castle with the exception of the crucible knight. But to make a long story short this is dark souls with an open world and I love it. My only wish is that there where more areas like stormvile where you get one bonfire and have to discover multiple shortcuts to your way back I currently have 150 hours in the game and am maybe 75% done minus all the quests I messed up or missed. And I will get every ending, piece of equipment, spells and all quests with one character!!!

    First time I beat Margit I died a thousand times, second time I beat Margit, I don’t die at all. His attacks do not have a lot of patterns, and it gets confusing when he switches the attacks from his front to his back. He can be beaten once you learn his strat but even then it’s hard for new players to get a hang of fighting him. Though he was less of a disappointment than Godrick, which I only died like 4-5 times from, and he’s meant to be tougher than Margit using his dragon head. But btw trust me that when he grabs that dragon head, his dragon flamethrower attack makes him EVEN MORE vulnerable than before when he only had his axe, since all you have to do is be literally right next to him until it finishes and you could just keep slashing him and beating on him up close, making the fight a lot more easy.
