Not a single expectation was subverted by Marvel's second worst film Black Widow. Taskmaster is Taskmistress, ScarJo was a guest star in her own film. Hollywood's agenda over shadows every 'creative' decision and some of the worst, if not the worst, writing in The Marvel Cinematic Universe. This one gives Captain Marvel a run for it's money. Based on it's opening weekend the M-she-U is here to stay

Literally changing the characters that have had the same way same race and same sex for decades and just spitting on the creators of the character. That was changed in the script long into production. It was going to be Tony Masters. But they later put it as the daughter. not sure if it was because they didn't want Black Widow to have killed a child or someone just wanted to change it.
Think about it: your brain is seeing male body language, male demeanor the whole time, and then in the end youre seeing a woman. It is literally reprogramming your brain to not make a difference anymore between gender markers. Pure neo-feminist propaganda and social engineering.
The 5 minute interrogation scene at the beginning of The Avengers was a better Black Widow movie.
Excepting her escape, which was potato at best - with obvious 'non-hits' that were 'hidden' by obvious camera angles designed to hide the horrible non-hits.
So who directed the action scenes in this movie? Based on most other women-directed films, I suspect it wasn't a female.

At this point, the only way the MCU could "subvert expectations" of audiences, would be, for them to actually stay true to the older source material.

I really wanted a Budapest movie with Black Widow and Hawkeye. They had such great on screen chemistry. We really got robbed.

I called Taskmaster being a woman the second I saw the trailer, I didn't know Disney would actually take my idea last minute.
I tuned out Phase Four when I learned what their slate of releases were expected to be. Turns out it was a good decision because these movies and shows are EXACTLY what I expected them to be.
You didn't subvert anything Feige. You've done exactly what I expected with exactly the results I expected. Up to and including the Taskmaster "reveal", which I called the moment the first trailer of him/her dropped.
Nothing to see here, just more predictable social politics wearing the skin of another beloved franchise like some alien parasite.

This is up there as the top 3 worst MCU movies. This is comes in 1st place for me. I wanted the origins of Black Widow, What happened to those flash backs in Age of Ultron?? She was doing ballet and shooting. That's the movie I wanted to watch.
Yeah. Everyone wanted the origin movie for Widow and Hawkeye. We didn't want a useless in-between film that meant nothing.

@@juliaj7939 They would need a tank as big as the plane itself, it would be so heavy it wouldn't fly. They likely could make Virginia or Tennessee on a tank of fuel pushing it. Depending on where in Ohio they were flying from. I would imagine they would track them with other aircraft and wait at any potential airports where they might refuel. They wouldn't just fly to Cuba unchecked. The DEA has extensive air control off the coast of Florida, because of the Escobar cocaine trafficking to this day. They have extensive practice looking for planes carrying contraband trying to avoid detection. They would know the planes ID and have a fighter jet blow them up.

There was no airforces in this game like literally. Americans would shoot or force the plane down when the fake family was running away in a plane. The other thing is that the helicopter which went to the gulag that was holding Red Guardian. Russians would shoot down the helicopter with the same means Americans have.

A Ton of falls, gets kicked off a bridge by the taskmaster, AFTER her car previously got blown up. While she was still in it. Remember in civil war where she got the air knocked out her just by scarlet witch throwing her against the plane? It’s crazy how that even happened seeing all this crap she goes through.
Well it is no longer subverting expectations when every masked and mysterious villain or hero is a female.
We need a female Wolverine now! Or at very least... a LGBTQ Wolverine as the source material says so. Enough of this macho crap. We need a Twilight version of Marvel going forward.

I remember watching this and feeling bad for all the men in the theater. It was incredibly frustrating to see every male shown in the most incompetent light. I never knew who the red guardian was, and I still dont, but for a person dosed with some form of super serum, he should have been much more effective and independent.

And I highlighted it because it's incredibly frustrating, and it made me so annoyed because a) I like the actor, b) it was such wasted plot/writing potential and c) it lessens the heroines as well, that their competition/villain and male counterparts are so pathetic makes them look pathetic as well. It's annoying and badly done, and it should have been done better. Heroes are as good as their villains. Heroes that defeat pathetic villains are just irritating. There's tons of films and TV shows that wrote strong females without lessening the men. Arcane would be a good example.
So Yelena went from being controlled by the evil Drakov to being manipulated by the evil Val ... How exactly is that a character arc? Looks like a static character, not a dynamic one to me.

You are questioning logic/realism in a movie series with a thunder god, a massive green incredible hulk and a web slinging teenager in queens, ny?
I am compelled to remember that scene from the first Hitman movie where 47 had to fight a bunch of others like himself. It was a good scene because everyone in the scene who was fighting understood each other's history. By that I mean each person had the same training and brainwashing. Despite that however, none of them felt as though they should hold back. I bring this up because I personally feel that BW should not have had any problems fighting the others, mostly because she was in some way one of them and with that understanding knows what each one is capable of despite their programming.
Somebody needs to tell Hollywood already that humans don't actually have pheromone receptors, unlike most mammals. That's part of why we evolved language, because we can't communicate by scent. Every time I see somebody even use the word "pheromone" in a movie, I immediately clock out, because it almost always means that the writer didn't care enough to do their homework.
Even though what you are saying is correct, I find there are a lot of people who report at least general scent and odor being a strong factor in their attraction sometimes, so with very little effort they could adjust things to say something like that maybe.

We have pheromone receptors, but it works on subconscious level, in other words you aren´t aware you smell something (too weak sense of smell) but your body still reacts to it. Smell plays a big role in our choices of partners.

This is how they were creating "strong female characters" for years now. Strong but only when everyone else is weak. Competent but only when everybody else isn't. Etc. Also have them never actually working for their powers and just getting them for nothing (compare magical "training" of Wanda in Wandavision with training of Stephen in his movie).
Even as a teenage girl when I compare those "strong" characters to female characters from older movies I wanna laugh becouse it's a joke.

If they going to go with a friendship story (ala "Falcon And The Winter Soldier"), they should have started with Black Widow and Hawkeye - two incredible characters with star actors who have great chemistry, and both roles being massively underutilized, with so much rich backstory to work with.

Hey Feige, subvert our expectations and make a good Marvel movie that uses the comics as their source material and characters as envisioned by the real creators who cared about their work and the fans.
At this point I think that being true to the character would be subverting the expectations of the audience. Nothing they are doing is unexpected at this point.

- having one-man supplier to go int hiding makes no sense. So the paranoid Thunderbolt Ross wouldn't be looking for the one guy who buys helicopters and even quinjets?

- red room on the sky , no satellite or spy planes or simple telescope pick it up???

God, I miss Steve Rogers so badly right now. 😭 I just went through and watched every MCU movie that Cap is in, and it was so great to focus on his arc. I really can’t shake the feeling that Marvel’s best days are behind it and that makes me really sad. I just can’t get excited about Shang-Chi, and Eternals mostly looks dull from the trailers, though I might give it a chance if the reviews are decent. Phase 4 is really looking lackluster in general. I really don’t understand the people who are so excited about it. 🤷🏻♂️

I wanted a Black Widow movie back after the 1st Avengers movie.
But I also wanted the Winter Soldier or Hawkeye to show up in her movie. (But I also like the backstory Bucky and Nat have in the Comic books).
I am happy she did get a movie but not overly happy with entirely of the movie. it ended up feeling more like an introduction to Nat's replacement than a movie about her.
