Hawkeye FLOPS on Disney Plus for Good Reason | More Bait-and-Switch M-She-U

  • Hawkeye is the lowest viewed live action Marvel show on Disney plus for good reason. It continues to suffer from The M-She-U trope. This is the Kate Bishop show guest starring Hawkeye. It gives us the introduction and origin to two female characters when we haven't had a proper introduction or origin the Hawkeye. If Kevin Feige and Disney Marvel are so committed to the female superhero, why do they need to rely on the bait-and-switch.

The kid who plays Perrin (The blacksmith) wasn't black, and not only was he not married, he was painfully shy around girls (Remember, they started out as kids in their late teens in the books). .... The original MCU had one female member of the team. One. After Black Widow being the only one for ages, they added a few others, all of which were mostly unimportant.
      -- Gamora is a tier 2 character.
      -- Wanda was given zero depth in the movies.
      -- Captain Marvel was just a badly written, badly made movie.
      -- Valkyrie was a tier 3 character.
      -- Can't even think of any others.
      And now in the Disney Plus series:
      -- WandaVision definitely starred a woman and it was fantastic
      -- Falcon & The Winter Soldier had no women lead characters, just a badly written female villain
      -- Loki had Sylvie but this was brilliant as a self-absorbed douche like Loki would of course fall for himself.
      -- Hawkeye is about attracting younger girls to the MCU and that's great, not every story must be a gritty, dark and bloody and targeted to 16-year-old boys. The more the merrier. And yet the contrast between Clint and Kate Bishop does tell us a lot more about Clint. Really loving it so far.

Why they call Hawkeye show when main character is obviously that girl? Are they afraid that woman won't sell that much? I call it hipocrysy. Its just a new pattern in cinema. Woman can't be flawless, and if they are evil, it's bc some men. About Wanda. Show was good. Till last minutes when they let her go bc woman don't need to face consequences of their actions.
      You don't need to have woman character, or male character to attract to something. All you need is good story and good characters. Do you know who showed me star wars? My mon and my auntie. My father hate it. Yet today Disney tell us that it was forbidden for woman to like star wars cause male character so they can't relate. Bullshit. But it's obvious it's a low budget series below any other Marvel tv show so far.

    • @cardiacresp
      @cardiacresp Před 2 lety

      @Rune Kristensen So there’s this thing called suspension of disbelief that happens when we enjoy a piece of entertainment. We can buy into a bullshit explanation like “this serum gives this person superpowers” or “this person is super strong cause they’re from another planet” but when you set something in a more “real” representation of our world with real people then the audience is gonna expect that the rules of physics will be followed. That’s the problem here. The actress is barely 130 pounds and is supposed to be a normal person. A very athletic normal person but a normal person regardless. In a realistic scenario a woman who weight 130 pounds would get absolutely pulverized by a guy who weighs literally double her weight. Most fit men can benchpress 130 pounds. Seeing stupid shit like this completely breaks immersion and ruins the stakes in the show. I mean give her a gun and have her shot the people. Someone’s weight and strength doesn’t really matter when shooting someone but don’t show her able to beat like 10 fully grown men. In reality if she tried that she’d be dead.

    • @cardiacresp
      @cardiacresp Před 2 lety

      @Rune Kristensen I feel like someone has a fetish for seeing little girls beat up big strong guys and is just trying to find an excuse to justify it. News flash, superheroes aren’t actually real. We buy into stupid shit like this when it’s fantastical because the genre is “fantasy”. When they make it more grounded and realistic like the did with Hawkeye then the audience will subconsciously expect a greater degree of “realism” and in reality a little girl can’t beat up fully grown men. They could’ve just given her like some fucking superpowers or something and then explain it that way. That would’ve been more believable in a show like this!

    Maybe I'm in the minority here but I've really enjoyed this series thus far (on episode 5). Disney was pretty upfront with what the show was going to be about so I really don't see an issue with it. Even if they are moving more towards an M-She-U scenario at least they are still more or less sticking to an already established cannon of females taking the mantle of this or that. There also has not been any part in the story yet that pushes how awesome or more amazing Kate is than Clint. He's still the major bad@ss of the series and more often than not ends up having to save/help her out of whatever mess she has gotten herself into. I know the bar is set pretty low using the Star Wars Sequels & MOTU Revelations as the standard but compared to how those portrayed women with power to the men Hawkeye as a series could almost be called Hyper Masculine. Out of all the Disney Plus MCU series this is the one that I have enjoyed the most.

    Hawkeye needs someone to play off of though. Wanda had Vision. The Falcon and Winter Soldier together. Loki and Sylvie. And this is an opportunity to introduce a new character moving forward. We get Clint has obviously put Ronin behind him, he wants to be with his family, he's trying to protect this young lady and at the same time hesitant to make any sort of connection with her because he doesn't want to experience the pain of loss again. Is it a rock solid show? No, but so far it's good enough.

      @@Name-cz5jj I don't get it either. I think most of it has nothing to do with the material but the promotion of it, so they seek out cast and filmmakers interviews and that seems to get them upset. I watched Hawkeye and saw nothing 'woke' about it, it just had female characters in it and I guess that automatically means woke these days. But if Alien had been filmed and released today, Ripley would be labeled a Mary Sue and the film dismissed. The fact that the character had originally been written as a man and recast as a woman would have sent people into an outrage. Just watch the damn material, stop with seeking out interviews from the stars and stop upsetting yourself is my best advise to these people.
