It makes me want to scream in rage
A moment hung for every person of age
Their fate
Encapsulated in plastic pills
No relief
No peace
As my karma sits in the backseat waiting for me
To see
If this world will leave me behind
Or set me free
It’s take take if you want to believe it is
We’ll save face while we’re trying to make it right
This can’t be happening
You’ve stolen tomorrow
And everyone is dead to me
I’m on a different plane or planet in space
I can’t face
The thought of never seeing this place
I plead
I can’t breathe
As I hear it blast through the speakers
Loud as can be
I’m sorry
I don’t know what I’ve done to deserve this tragedy
I never asked for this
To only exist
As a number in your lottery
You don’t own me just because
I came to be
On September 14th
You don’t know me

Reminds me old silverstein
only song written by Shane. most of the rest were written by Paul Marc and outside writers
@@SilversteinRescue in other words I'd wait 4 years if that's what it took for shane to write every song on his own cause THIS is Silverstein. This album is good but its not exactly Silverstein ya know?
@@Zee-bx4ns The album sounds very much like them, just a different style for them just as This Is How The Wing Shifts was so different from the material before that.
@@KoaAbyss I re listened to it. I revoke my first opinion. Its still very much them
This sounds like this is how the winds shifts
Absolutely. It instantly reminded me of Hide Your Secrets
@@whiplash505 It is exactly Hide Your Secrets with a touch of Toronto.
no
Yeah Hide Your Secrets
By far my favorite track on the record
This actually sounds like Silverstein and not the typical now and day song like pretty much the whole rest of the album
Nathan Sanders The verses sound like Four Years Strong to me.
I agree this new Silverstein album is not like Silverstein album but like new band. I prefer evolve in sound not change to other genre like Silverstein did here ofc they were very diverse on their older albums too but still it was complete and all older albums has got Silverstein feeling to it, signature. New album consists only few real Silverstein songs and even I try to accept it I wanna hear album like Discovering The Waterfront or Shipwreck In The Sand one more time. Is this possible?
Wow the screams bring back to when I was teen 30 now
You can say that again.
This song is just another reason why Shane has always been one of my favorite vocalists!
September 14th and Shape Shift are the best songs in the album.
Best song of the album 🖤🖤🖤
September 14th is my birthday 🎂
The title of the song is a reference to the US Draft Lottery held during the Vietnam War. The first date drawn was Sep 14, so all men of a certain age born on September 14 were drafted into the military to be deployed to Vietnam. The intro of the song contains actual audio from the broadcast of the draft.
Oh wow, I had no idea, and I'm a huge Silverstein fan.........cheers for that..........
Classic Silverstein sound
Love you Silverstein.
This track nailed my opinion of the album. I feel like the album is both innovative, fresh and young but also still has it's roots - made respect lads.
Btw I would love to see a music video for this track
My favorite track. I'm already singing and working on a cover for this song. This is my favorite silverstein song. I've memorized most of the lyrics. But I also got the album early :P
This song and Take what you give are my faves so far
This out of all the songs on this album sounds so much like Rescue era Silverstein, one of my favorites definitely
You are fucking delusional thinking any of this album sounds anything remotely like rescue
@@michaellarry86 someone's angry
Now THIS is a jam
Listening on September 14th!
Ugh love this band and song
Literally the only song on the album that sounds like something from between Discovering the waterfront and Rescue. Amazing
Today is the day boys!
Hope they play this at their vegas show, would make for a good circle pit song.
Best song from the album. This is what Silverstein is. The new album sounds more pop.
Just like that I fall back in love
I wish almost whole album was in that kind of sounding and style and some heavier songs would be good too. Don't get me wrong this new album is not bad, they wanna to try new things and that's okay. But I would rather stick with classic Silverstein like in this song. Still prefer Dead Reflection over new album
I had the same thoughts well said
With time, things change. After 20yrs, ensembles tends to change their sound. It’s maturity more than anything.
I'm with you on that one this album has always felt to me like the second coming of arrivals and departures. It has a more mainstream style and the tracks vary for me greatly. There's a few really good songs, a bunch of average ones and a couple songs I don't like at all (all on me and infinite).
I agree. Dead Reflection is more better than the new album.
Retrograde heaviness sounds like a Metalcore song. Demons as well is a banger from the previous album.
Too bad I only like few songs on the new album. Only Bad habits and September 14 caught my attention on this new album.
September 14th is my b day 😳
happy birthday!
Happy birthday twins 🥂🥂
I've no idea why this is in my head today of all days.
The new CD is gonna be mind blowing
great song!
scrolling down the comments, everyone is worked up about the sound of the band, when in truth the content of this song deserves more discussion
I wonder what the song is about
@@mabellopez6364 I dont know for sure, but them being Canadians... I know there was "vigil" if you will, on the date in the name of the song following the 9/11 attack on the US
@@mabellopez6364 Lead singer Shane Told was inspired to write this song after listening to “Numbers”, episode 94 of the podcast the memory palace, which features an immersive retelling of the 1969 Draft Lottery for the Vietnam War.
Shane explained the story in an Alternative Press interview.
In 1969, the Vietnam draft lottery happened. Live on TV, government officials filled a bowl with 366 capsules, each containing a day of the year. They used this to determine who would be drafted to go to war in Vietnam. The first date called was Sept. 14, so anyone born on that day had to go. It’s crazy to think something like this happened just a decade before I was born. So many people had their lives completely uprooted, and many people were killed because of this.

Love the screams, it makes me feel the same way when I was a teen.
Interesting fact: they didn't have used the word "karma" in a song since "Call it karma" in Discovering the waterfront album (2005).
tenesajuancruzenyb very true I noticed that although I feel there’s a single or something floating about. It’s been so long I’m a bit rusty on my Silverstein.
@@odinsheathen8924 So this album is perfect for you!
This is not facts lol
What an ignorant statement. Lol. Aquamarine from Dead Reflection is just one example of a song they say Karma in. Karma is one of their favorite words man 😂 theres many other ones as well after 2005 they've used the word karma. Get educated and don't spread false information lol.
@@Digitalpk3r Relax, dude. You're right, they used that word in Aquamarine breakdown, but just in that song and in Call it karma.
My favorite under this album. Sounds like hide your secrets.
Just discovered this song on September 14th which I think is funny lol
My birthday is September 14th
Happy birthday!
Happy birthday to us 🥂
Its the vietnam war lottery draft
I really get A better place vibes
September 14 is my birthday 😎😎
happy birthday 🎉
@@moraiseverton thank you 😭🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽
Makes me feel like im 15 again lol
F___ all haters. This album is as good as any other one. Sure it's a bit different than others. But IT'S NOT HORRIBLE!
Classic Silverstein :)
🤘😎
I love this song's mix of pop punk and post-hardcore. This may not be AOTY, but it's a solid album nonetheless.
September 14th is my birthday...
Nice
One of the only good songs on the album
I think every song except of infinite is good
@@torran106 someone has to I guess.
I don't understand all the hate. This whole album is good.
@@nononsense424 guess u never will
fuck your opinion!
Sounds like old atreyu in the screams
This track reminded me of Jarrod Alonge. Especially 2:23
LMAO
Fucking AMAZING
wish the album sounds more like the 3 last songs - more like the real silverstein
When Silverstein writes a song about your birthday
If you lived in America at that time you would be drafted to fight in the Vietnam war. Read the story behind this track

It’s ok I’ll never dis Silverstein but yeah wish the whole album was like this but I get it and honestly I guess it’ll make us like this one that much more... hope there is more to come and I think it’s be dope if they’re last album was old school
13 September 2019 i broke up with my ex gf...
14 September 2019 i tried to kill myself with a failed attempt...
I am crying while writing this comment....
Any Silverstein songs it fits with me...
I'm happy they've continued to evolve as a band, but sometimes a basic ass Silverstein song is exactly what you need. This song could easily be on any record before Dead Reflection lol.
take me back on 2006 please
Sorry but I'm just wondering what this song is about. can anyone tell me what it's about???

THIS CANT BE HAPPENING
IT CAN’T BE
They had to re-summon their inner hate for their hometowns for this song
Great song. I would love to know what the lyrics are referring to. Somebody in the comments said Vietnam War draft in Canada?

What's the story behind this song? What is the significance of sept 14th?
The day the draft started for the Vietnam war. People who had birthdays on Sept 14th were the 1st ones to be drafted. This is basically their point of view he's singing.
This is more of a political song.
@@Zee-bx4ns ohhh I didn't know that! That's cool!
It’s not the day the draft started. They determined the order people would be drafted by pulling pills out of a bowl. The dates were assigned numbers based on the order they were pulled in, and September 14th was the first date pulled so it became 001. When they started drafting people, anyone of age born on that day went first, then they went to 002 (forget the date) and so on as needed. They made it all the way to number 199. You can find the order online to see where you would have fallen.

Oooo very senses fail!!
Honestly if it didn't look at the song, i'd think that i've been listening to some older track. The album is ok, but it just sounds too pop-ish for me
This song sounds very Rise Against.
Sounds like Simple Plan! Too bad this is the only good song in the entire album along with the last track with Pierre Bouvier : /
I changed my mind Infinite is pretty good too
Only good song on this album. I get it, people change, bands evolve, sound shifts, especially for a band that has been around for this long...but still.
You're wrong.
You're right
Glad someone said it.
Almost didnt change and still every song on the record is great
Cause Shane only wrote one song sadly :/
