Dear Mother can you hear my footsteps?
I’m so close, I’m right there.
I’m almost home, so unprepared
To notice yet ignore how hard it is to be around you.
I’ve came clean, I’m washed out.
I’ve flooded the engine, stranded myself.
This home, native land they speak in words I can’t understand.
So when I’m standing on this street like I have a hundred times,
You don’t even glance at me you just pass me by.
I remember your face, from the moment I first saw you
I never looked away.
I’ll never forget how you looked that Saturday when you told me
We could never be together, and I could never change.
Mother, Mother is it you who’s calling?
Lights out, lay down,
We’ll sleep when we’re dead, that time is now.
But soft speak will drown out how I can’t do what’s right around you. Cold breeze, no coat, excuses used to take words from my throat. False hope confirmed.
Deceits a language I can’t hope to learn.
So when we’re standing on this street like we have a hundred times, We will celebrate the years you stalled and couldn't decide.
I used to believe that every person had a purpose
In this swirling ball of indecision that consumes us all.
I used to believe that every person had a person
They could always count on and not be scared of, one for everyone. So when I’m standing on this street like I have a hundred times,
Can I walk away and finally leave all of this behind? - Hudba
Potentially favorite song on the album.
Same here man, it's so powerful.
They are all so good though. I might like a midwestern state of emergency the most
me too
My high school french teacher had this song playing as we walked into class one day. Lets just say I was the only one who liked this song. Which is sad, because it is so great.
w teacher
Chorus is so damn catchy. Great song
+Kiliab Gonzalez i think all silverstein songs are catchy :)
Eric Locop Same but prob the one that's most catchy for me is The Afterglow I really like that song XD

My favorite silverstein song. Seen them about 11 times and they never played it live. 😢
Go to quebec shows they play it
Best chorus ever.
Possibly my favorite song on the album. It's so damn catchy and my boyfriend and I can't get it out of our heads! Love the whole entire album!
Leaving my Mark as I've listened to this song's album
This one stands out.

This song is so good! The whole album itself is perfection!
Reminds me of No Use For A Name for some reason. The clear voice and voice lines, the lyrics and subjects. I love it. Plus I'm a Quebecer so...

This is my favorite song from the album.
The part in the chorus reminds me of "Up Against the Wall" by Boys Like Girl. Like the vocal pattern. amazing album I love it.

maximeperron12
Je pense ! Vive la francophonie xD

This is always my go to song on this album! It's just perfect.
You know, I remember the first time I heard Silverstein, and I was like wtf. But years later this is beautiful.

J'aime trop le nouvel album! Je l'écoute en répétition depuis des jours. =]
Best song on the album
such good song good silverstien
Love.
my favorite too
I don't know why but this song reminds me of the early 2000s in a good way.
Sup Dewd My first thought exactly.
The early 2000's were the golden times for music man. So many good bands from that era.
If I could re live any time it would be the early 2000s.
Definitely agree with you!
This really deserves more views...
Catchy song
Proud Canadian right here 😆
The last half of the album is awesome
Excelente
My fav track in this f****** album!!
I'm buying this!! ;)
We could never be together, and I could never change.
Vive le Québec libre. :-B
this song heat
Wowo.💕
This song goes hard as fuck
The whole album is absolutely great though.
I’m getting some No Use For A Name vibes in this song. I like it.
Oooooooooh yes!!!!
Zero dislikes keep it that way :)
I like how now every time they're touring in Quebec the have to play this
And why would they have to the song isnt in french its just a title im a pure quebecer and idgaf if they dont play it
because its good as fuck and because it represents the band and their time in Quebec
Grimm its good youre right but they arent obligated there is the point
August Vittellius it's like saying goldfinger has to end their set with "going home"
Matthew do they do ? if they want well they do this guy up there think Silverstein is obligated to play that in Quebec
this reminds me of early Haste The Day
😭😍😍
The chorus reminds me a little of Hawthorne Heights
This is what I'm going through now
100/10
that intro tho
malade!
Kiff la musique elle me seras tres utile pour un AMV
Did they play this song live before they released it? I swear I've heard this before somewhere
LOVE THIS FUCKING SONG!!!!!!!
Favorite part: The chorus
i love this part 2:13
is the suppose to be OF THE ALBUM
first time listening to these guys. remind me of ADTR a little bit. I like them
Roonie Roodke #1: This account is beautiful. #2: You should check out all their albums. I'd recommend starting with A Shipwreck In The Sand.
thank you lol and okay i wanna listen to them before warped tour so ill start checking them out
I have a feeling you'll like 'em, good luck! :)
Roonie Roodke Also, do not dismiss short songs.
Roonie Roodke The comparison to ADTR is fair, but realize that Silverstein came first. If you want their more aggressive songs, check out "Always and Never," "I am the Arsonist," and "Broken Stars" for starters.
can someone explain this songs story pls

This was their prime.
Québécois !
I remember your face
Fucking. Good. Song.
why is the name of the song in french, like they never mentioned anything french in their music before, anyone care to explain?
its a canadian thing
Enough fucking said.
Can anyone explain the lyrics? The first verse sounds like he's dreading his return to his family and home country. But then the chorus sounds like...a high school break up? XD
Overall it seems like he's just returning home and it triggers all these memories. The song is speaking to his mother basically, but the chorus is about his old love?
I think the chorus is about his mom as well. Some mothers are like this, I guess. Like his mom left him or something..
Nope. Forget about what I said. Seems like it's about a mom's death. The second verse seems to be about the funerals. What you think?
I'm having a hard time trying to understand what is this song about. Help
how do you pronounce the title? any French speakers?
I Remember
je = like the "j" in judge + uh
me = muh
souviens = sou (as in soup) vee AH (they tend to join vee and ah as one stressed syllable).
Not a native speaker but I've been learning French for a while. I hope I'm making sense, that's the way I hear it and I don't know if you're familiar with IPA so I kinda transcribed it the best I could.
quand tu écris une chanson et tu le donne un titre Français tu l'avais rendu au moins 60% plus Canadien
lvndmark
FLQ
I like the song, but the transition to the chorus is a bit jarring 0.o
