Where I Purchased - Best Buy
Price Paid - $1,430 (Open Box)
    Quality - 10
I’ve only given out one or two 10 scores but I have honestly never had a subwoofer that was built to this quality.
The gloss is perfect, the driver feels as sturdy, the amp is hugely powerful and it comes with an app and a LED screen.
    Just beautifully constructed!
    Bass - 9.5
This sub produces some of the strongest and deepest bass I’ve ever personally experienced. Trying to use this beast in a small duplex is like having a 911 Turbo S and never going above 60 with it.
It reminds me of a caged animal!
    MSRP Rating - 8.0
No doubt about it, $2,000 is a ton of money on a single sub, especially with brands like HSU & Rythmik out there, but you undoubtedly get a top quality subwoofer for the price.
    Aesthetics - 9.5
This is a beautiful subwoofer, especially if you like dust-capless subs, gloss black and blue LED lights:)
It is very compact and beautiful!
    Price Paid Value - 9.0
For me to spent this much money on a subwoofer, just to review it, won’t happen often but I have no doubt I will be able to get all my money out of it, when I’m finished.
I’ve just had better deals, like the Rythmik and the HSU subs I recently reviewed.
    Final Thoughts -
Is it cheap? No. Is there better performance for the money? Yes.
Will you be able to find a higher quality subwoofer, this compact, in this price range, with this performance? No. At least you will be very hard pressed to do better.
This is a beautiful looking, compact and high quality subwoofer will meet or exceed 99% of people’s needs.
    Well done SVS!

i had this subwoofer for about 4 years now. To me me it delivers the best combination of deep bass impact for movies, but also accurate tight bass needed for 2 channel. My only regret is i haven't pulled the trigger on a another one for duel subwoofer setup which would be the ultimate for me.

You have excellent home audio taste! You have one of the top performing, in a reasonably sized cabinet, subwoofers on earth!
The overall performance, looks, quality and customer service are hard to beat.
I feel it’s my job to give you my permission to go duals, to help get you over the edge. If that’s the case, go for it. Dual subwoofers is a definitely a requirement for me moving forward. Until I feel it’s time for quads😆

Love SVS subs.. I have the micro-3000 in my family room and it booms.. the dual sb-4000s in my media room.. not only that you can hear them but feel them. If you sit on the 1st row in my media room, the Bass will take of your face…. The subs were delivered to my house in pallets.. they were 102 lbs each. I tipped the delivery guys extra for them to moved the subs to the basement… these are worth every single dollars because I had Martin Logan and B&W they were okay but the SVS I think they are bangs for your bucks.

To be honest, I like your channel and I want to say thank you bro. Wow!!! The sb16 ultra is really a beast!! From your description I'm not sure I need this subwoofer being a renter sharing a floor walls with 3 neighbours (underneath my floor, and two to my sides). It's too also heavy and ideal for home owners that aren't sharing walls with neighbours otherwise it would be of no use buying when you wouldn't use it to its full potential.
At the beginning of this video, you've shown you and the sb16 which is great but after you've tested it, you pointed the camera not on you and the sub anymore but on you and a different speaker while giving your personal analysis which could pose a little confusion especially for those skipping the video because it would appear as though you were talking about the small speaker on the desk. However, I could notice front your body language that the sb16 was sitting in front of you because I've watched the whole video. Thanks

@Average Guy Hi-Fi I have had 2x JL in my room and both of them did hit low Hz but they are slow in response IMO. The REL doesn't measure super low, like the 212/SX at -6 at 18 Hz compared to the SVS 16 Ultra at -3 at 16 Hz but the speed out of 212/SX is simply amazing and when I had it toe to toe with my SVS 16 I felt it hit so much harder, proving measurements are not everything.

In your room what was the SPL difference between this and the Rythmik F15HP? Lots of people want to know. If the SVS generates only 2 or 3 more db, the Rythmik wins. The SVS would have to make at least 6db more SPL from 20 to 31hz to justify the extra loot.

      @blazermdx  Před 3 lety +1

Unfortunately, I am in the camp that just about every system needs a subwoofer, especially for movies and video games.
There’s just so much LFE built into these new movies and games that if you aren’t running a sub or two, you’re missing out on quite a bit of content.
The downside is that home theater subwoofers can be fairly unreliable. So I definitely feel your concern.

    • @blazermdx

      13’ x 13’ and a SB16 Ultra is a real recipe for success. Haha!
If you can position it in the correct spot in your room, I have no doubts that it will be plenty for a room that size.
My reason for going duals, many times over the years, is I’m a bit OCD when it comes to looks and symmetry. Don’t get me wrong, I love the more even bass response and the additional headroom dual subs provides but the question would be do you really need it in that small of a room. Subwoofer Crawl might end up saving you $2K:)

You know I purchased SVS PB-1000s and SVS PB-2000 Pros. Afterwards I purchased dual SVS-3000s and dual Hsu ULS-15 MK2s. I definitely prefer the sealed subs. No chuffing and although ported subs sound excellent but there are times when the chuffing mars the experience. I still have the PB-2000 Pros and gave my son the PB-1000s. Going to sell my PB-2000 Pros eventually but I am up in the air on what to replace them with. Hsu, Rythmik and Arendal and SVS SB-4000 (Outlet) are my short list.

I love hearing all about your subwoofer experience, it sounds like you are educated in the types of subs you prefer.
As you know, I’m also a sealed sub fan. I will likely go ported, if I end up with a larger, dedicated theater but in normal to small rooms, I prefer sealed subs all day.
I have owned a ton of pretty awesome subs over the years and HSU is hard to beat for the money. SVS puts a premium on looks, customer service and ease of use. Rythmik just flat out builds killer subs. I have a FV15HP in storage and I might snag another, if I ever move.
How did the 3000 stack up against the ULS15?

@@blazermdx I replaced my dual SVS PB 2000 Pros with PB-3000's. I replaced my dual SVS 3000s with SVS SB16s. I moved the Hsu ULS-15 MK2s to my bedroom. Let me tell you, the Hsu's hold their own to my PB-3000s and SB16's. The Hsu's cost $1000 less than my PB-3000s and $2400 less than my SB16s. I love my SVS subs but they make my Hsu's a great buy. Regardless of the extra price, the SB16s sound very good with the smoothest bass I have heard. Hopefully I am good for now because being in my late 50s, I like deep and loud but loud doesn't like me.

Also, at the end of the video you mentioned a sealed rhythmic 15" HP subwoofer. Which subwoofer are you referring to? Lol this stuff isn't cheap so I'm going overboard with research and I'd love to have other comparable subwoofers.

First off, all 3 of these sealed options are excellent for their size. The SVS will have more output than the HSU but you can get 2 ULS-15 for the price of a SB16. Dual HSU would definitely be my choice, if you have the room.
The Rythmik I was referring to is the F15HP, their sealed 15. This would be my choice out of the 3 but it’s close.

Just got my SB16 ultra, personally I was going to go with the PB-3000. But I was overridden by the boss, she liked the looks of the Sb16 ultra much better in our basement theater room. Because of the seating there's really only one place for the subwoofer which is front-and-center next to the right tower. And she thought the pb-3000 would be a little bit much in that location. Certainly not complaining, more just reiterating your opinion on the looks of this sub. In piano gloss black it has a very high W.A.F, can't wait to get another one once we move into a bigger theater room next year. Where are you in Washington? I'm in Renton.

    • @blazermdx
      @blazermdx  Před 3 lety

I prefer dual subs almost always but it really depends on your listening habits and the size of your room.
The SB16 Ultra will dig deeper than a pair of SB2000 and have more output, when properly placed. Dual SB2000’s will usually have punchier bass and a more even bass response than a better single sub in most rooms.
I just happen to prefer two lesser subs usually but my room is very easy to pressurize & energize.
Really depends on what you are looking for. The good news is that if you are shopping for either of these subs, you are going to be getting high quality bass.
