- Hi! We're working on a super long video at the moment, so here's a video about Elden Ring I made for y'all to tide you over going over how I believe, Thematically, Elden Ring will be different from Dark Souls.

I felt bad 'cause our other project is taking a lot longer to produce than I wanted so I'm thinking of getting you guys some more videos like this if you like them while we work on the more labor-intensive videos.

I feel like Dark Souls is more like...mid apocalypse. Everything is already dead or dying, the end is already here, the beings still around just can't accept it yet, but their civilizations have already fallen.
Agree! I think I more or less say that near the end. "Post apocalypse vs mid apocalypse" just doesn't have the same ring to it haha

Its not that they cant accept it, and its not the end of the world the age of dark is not what it was supossed to be, gwyn tampered with humanity, had he accepted the natural order, even tho deities would most likely had it bad, the world wouldnt be ruined in the age of dark, but now as close as the age of dark gets to happen, humans stsrt changing into either unded or other kind of things, it was gwyn who didnt accepted the end of his era that now it makes everything screwed, now its not about resigning to the end, now the end cant be, cuz its not the natural order, he screwed every human to force them to keep the age of fire forever.

I have to agree with this sentiment.
Elden Ring to me feels more like it's set in the aftermath of something like one of the World Wars, sure a bunch of things got wrecked, and a lot of people died, but the survivors are picking up the pieces and _rebuilding_ .
Dark Soul’s ragnorak happened, and Elden Ring lives in the new world of Baldr
Honestly, this is a pretty good way to explain it, as long as people know their Norse mythology.
@@oler777 well apocalypse has somewhat of a finality, Ragnorak leads to a rebirth. Things dont really recover in a zombie apocalypse, the whole point of Ragnorak is that the New world is our current one, and it is a thriving

The idea of a world after the death of a previous one actually fits the celtic and norse inspirations of Elden Ring extremely well. Both mythos have countless stories of civilizations built atop the bones of old ones and made better from the foundation.
So its gonna be very interesting seeing how much from soft and GRR took form them and integrated into this world.
Also I'm curious how 1:1 its gonna be. Because that boss from the leak a while back SCREAMS Cu Chulainn to me and that is gonna be terrifyingly amazing to fight if so

I haven't really thought about it but this idea of Dark Souls actually parallels our own world quite nicely. In the games the world is dying and we allow it to keep dying instead of finding a new way by relinking the fire. There are clearly many problems with this way of living but since no one knows what life would be like without the fire they keep on relinking it. This, to me, is actually quite similar to our reliance on fossil fuels and our striving for infinite growth. We know that it is bad and that we are slowly killing the Earth but we are still not really doing anything. We just keep on spewing carbon dioxides into the atmosphere because that's the way of life that we know and what we don't know is always frightening. Who knows, maybe one day we can quit our addiction to unsustainable living and transition into a world like Elden Ring.

Hey Austin, I loved this video and hoping you make a compare/contrast video of Bloodborne, Dark Souls and Elden Ring since it has been out. Your video rants are awesome and so are you!

Also, while I assumed the rekindling followed a geometric series with r=1/2, it doesn't have to - DS3 confirms it passes the ratio test regardless.
That's all nice, but that's if he was repeatedly cutting his *own* distance in half. The turtle here isn't given any limit, which just means the race would finish however fast the turtle would normally finish, and would basically be a tie. Then again, that completely breaks the analogy for the video, so maybe somethings just missing and I'm overthinking a turtle tale

Hi Austin, I really enjoyed the video! I am just a little worried about the self-directed negativity towards the end of the video. I hope that it was mainly for comedic effect, and that you are taking care of yourself.
Funny story: you mentioned seaonal affective moods im the video, and this is something that I am fortunate enough to not be affected by, usually. However, I experienced something similar when playing Minecraft - I had created a world and had set up a base in a Taiga, and the cold, barren dreariness of the landscape really dampened my usual joy in playing Minecraft.
