Damn! honest brother đâ€ïžâ€ïž
Kenji, love the quality of the video.
Thank you!
I like how you pitch achievement in a humbled way, it is not easy to do.
Thank you! Glad it's coming across the right way! đ
Your videos are extremely helpful. I know it's a bit late, but I would politely ask how you would approach the working experience part if that's my first ever internship. I don't want to apply for investment banking positions yet but I did not secure any internships previously and I fear that this may ruin my whole cover letter. Do you have any tips for first-time internship applications in finance?
Hello Kenji thanks for an amazing content. I have a question regarding the introduction part - Do you think some unusual/non-standard introductory opening line would help to stand out positively? Thanks in advance.
I was watching this video to help myself make a cover letter to apply to IB jobs, and I can't believe you're also from Cornell's school of hotel administration! I'm a few years behind you of course though. You definitely earned a new sub from me! :)
That's awesome, best of luck going forward! Glad it was helpful :)
Amazing video as always. When is the tutorial on how to be like Kenji coming out? đ
Hahaha working on it ^^
Nice video! this was very helpful and informative. I appreciate the template, I have been looking for one.
Glad it was helpful!
Found this channel. Watching all videos one by one.đâ€
Awesome! Thank you!
what are your margins on your cover letter? because the margins on the template look bigger than on your cover letter? Thanks in advance!
Hi I really wanted you to show me what the 300 word cover letter requires as Iâm applying for Goldman Sachs too
Great work, l now have a new cover letter template!
Thank you glad you found it useful!
Top guide
Thank you!
Hi, how would u wrote a cover letter if you donât have any previous related experience?
Hi Kenji I come from a multicultural background as well speaking Telegu as my first language at home when I was born in the US and then learned English but I don't know how to read and write Telegu. I was thinking of including this in my cover letter, but I don't know if I should because I am not fluent in Telegu like you are in Japanese and Spanish. What do you recommend?
Is it ok to mention activities in student clubs? Especially if itâs a leadership position?
What are the subjects and skills required to become investment banker
Awesome job Kenji! Can you share more about where you find the job openings?
Hi Joseph! Thanks for the comment. Will consider making a video on that! But for the most part I found the openings through linkedin, the vault guide and my university job fair
How many words long should a cover letter be?
Kenji are you still working or full time youtuber
Hi, thanks for the info, it was very informative and helpful. I noticed you said you prepared other cover letters for different industries. Wondering if you could kindly let me know what skills are most appreciated for an accounting position. Thanks, from the UK.
Hi! I'd say good knowledge of accounting, numbers oriented, and comfortable interacting with clients. On the tech side, excel and some previous financial modelling would be a plus!
Thank you for this video, very helpful! Could you please suggest for which qualities and experiences consulting firms are looking for?
Hi I don't have consulting experience but based on my friends that work in management consulting I'd imagine it's a combination of problem solving skills, numerically oriented, and public speaking (for the presentations)
What if I don't have internship experience
Thanks for the vid - how was the interview process, did you do seek out any specific resources to prepare for technicals? Your background at PwC was in audit, how receptive was the hiring manager to non-banking background?
Glad you found it useful! The interview process consisted of a video interview followed by an in-person final round with multiple interviews. Honestly the interviews werenât very technical more behavioral. For other banks that had technical interviews I had taken corporate finance and financial modeling courses at university so I didnât seek any extra resources.
As for my background given that it was an internship recruiters were quite receptive to pwc audit as it was finance/accounting while most other applicants didnât have any finance related experience.
Hoping to make more finance videos in the coming weeks.
Would appreciate it if you could like and subscribe!
@@KenjiExplains Ohh interesting, I expected some technical questions to test your knowledge in finance. How were your work hours by the way?
So did I haha. Hopefully will make a video detailing a day in the life in the next couple weeks (they were long though, think 16h days). Stay tuned!
word count range?
Great video very helpful! I'm starting a one year internship in a supply chain role and was interested in your thoughts on this career? Thank you :)

How one can apply to these roles if they have studied in a non-target schools.
Hi Kapil, anyone can apply online but the probabilities of getting an interview if you go to a non-target school are generally lower.
This is very insightful! Though I thought Goldman Sachsâ cover letter was rather in the form of a 300 word essay. Was this not the case for you?
Thank you, yes it was...I mention that at the start of the video :)
THIS IS SOOO UNDERRATED
Thank you!
I really love you videos! Do you have any tips for college freshman who want to enter Investment Banking?
Hi Ahmed thank you! I'd say just start recruiting and networking early (making a video on networking soon). Look into the pre-internship programs banks have like insight weeks, diversity programs and virtual insight series because internships are usually for second and third years. Also try to work in the summer (even if it's non-finance related) you don't want to have an empty resume when recruiting starts. Lastly I'd say try join your university finance/trading/business clubs so you have some finance related things on your resume and you start to gain some investment banking knowledge!
P.S. Would be awesome if you could like my videos and subscribe, helps out!
@@KenjiExplains Thank you so much, Kenji. And of course, I will like all your videos (They are really detailed and explain things really well). Just to add on should I do anything differently if I am going to a non-target/semi-target school?
@@ahmedshekhani9082 Appreciate that! Generally the idea is the same. However, I think the networking aspect is going to be more important for you. Basically for target schools the investment banks go to recruit the candidates at the universities, and that's how candidates get to know the recruiters and the bankers. So if these investment banks don't go to your university you need a different way to get in touch with them / get yourself noticed, hence why I mention networking. I'll be making a video on networking for investment banking in the coming weeks, hopefully can be of help!
Hi, need answer ASAP please: isnt this cover letter too long? Do you consider it of appropriate length? Didnât any recruiters object to the length?
Thank you
Hi! Not in my experience. Anything above 1page isnât recommended though. Most of my colleagues had cover letters between half and one whole page
@@KenjiExplains thank you for your reply! So you think i should not worry if my cover letter is a bit longer than yours, but still one page?
Yeah I wouldnât worry if itâs less than 1p! Best of luck đ€
Can I get your resume for my reference?
đ you give me pressure đ Very informative !
Haha best of luck!
