Hi, I watched a Wildfern video yesterday and she got the idea from someone else to wrap a warm, wet towel around a stuck new leaf, to get it to unfurl. She used a dish towel on a Bird of Paradise leaf. This morning, I used a papertowel on my Adansonii and the leaf unfurled. I left it on about 10 minutes. It was magic!
Yes I know that trick, it works great! I learned that from another Dutch plant content creator, Iris from @mamaboranica.amsterdam 👌🏻 Also Fern is awesome

My pink princess leafs decide to get stuck all the time. It's so frustrating. But the ones in the terrarium do a lot better than the ones I have in my living room. It's a permanent love-hate relationship 😂

Love it 💕 I have a Pink Princess I only got her at the start of summer but I'm loving her, but yeah I've had to help a few leaves that have gotten stuck! 🙈
This video was pretty much exactly what I was looking for, thank you! Mine is a top cutting that I got last fall. She lived in water until this early spring, although I kept gradually adding coco peat as well, in which she was eventually potted. The growth has started to slow down massively, even though it's summer now, my apartment if getting the best light this time of year and it's already been a while from potting it, so you'd think it had established some soots already. Each new leave is smaller than the last and they're becoming so tiny. I'm feeling a little impatien and I'm considering chopping it. It's quite consistently pink throughout, and to be honest I do enjoy the red hue of the regular green parts just as much. But I am a bit worried it might revert to mostly green if I cut it now, although the stem has really good pink streaks and I think I might have relatively high chances of retaining a lot of color. Got to knock on wood, but fortunately it completely suvived a thrips problem I'm just now getting past, with practically zero damage. They took out a lot of softer plants during a vacation.

Hiya! So you mention the cutting that died, the one that had the half moon leaf, and since I’m just watching now I remember that that was the cutting where you didn’t let it dry before putting in wet perlite! I’m not sure if that would be the difference but thought I would mention in case it helps in the future :) Loved watching this video, thank you for sharing your process!

Great video!! I have been looking for good info on PPP’s and why lose their pink. Also on how to propagate it. I finally chopped it up this morning. I think I did ok. Time will tell! But I wish I would have seen this earlier. I don’t think I would have changed anything, but I sure would have been more confident in what I was doing. I really appreciate all of the time you put into making this video!!! Seriously, great work. You gained yourself a new subscriber. And I am happy to watch more of your content. I had mine in a Pot with no Drainage hole and the upper leaf went brown. I Made a cutting of a healty part, hope I can safe her.

I love the enthusiasm! For me variegated plants are way to stressful amd high maintenance. Luckily i adore green and velvet leafs, that suits me better :)

My partner got me a PPP for Christmas and so far it is growing okay. The first couple leaves after I got it were quite wimpy, but I think I got the hang of caring for it and the next 4 leaves were bigger and better. It’s getting top heavy now, so I’m thinking of chopping and propping 👀 fingers crossed

You have had great successes. My Pink Princess is growing tall. The leaves sometimes look great and before they unfurl, they dry out. It has indirect sun all day and a bit of lamp light. If I move it to the sunny side of the house, how do I deal with the moisture and watering problems? Thanks.
Yeah that's a challenge.. But I have one growing in my greenhouse now where its in full sun so it's possible
I bought a PPP about 5 months ago and the prettiest leave was damaged in shipping and I had to remove it. Well it took a long time to get a new leaf... here it was stuck inside the cataphylls so long that a 2nd leaf was poking out as well! I unstuck it last night... so glad that I watched your video and learned that this is common! Thrips are the worst IMO. Did you get rid of them?
I did but with a lot of patience! And regular updates of good bugs. In summer they always show up again in some numbers, from outside etc. But it's under control most of the time
Hi thanks for the great video! I recently bought my sister a pink princess for her bday and grabbed one for myself, too.
Mine had two leaves already out of the sheath but still rolled up. One half of each leaf has since unfurled but the other half is staying rolled up. Is this somewhat normal?

Yeah they are known to get leaves very stuck. I would spray it regularly, moisture or high humidity helps. And check for pests, thrips can also make new leaves stuck
How long would you let the cut ends on the Pink Princess dry before putting in water or perlite?
However long I have 🤭 generally you can see the cut has dried up! A few hours should do it. But if you don't have time for that, shorter is fine too

Mygosh, I really love the painting you have in your greenhouse (your cats with plants), I don't like that pink princess or any kind of philodendron dynasty hehe. So about the theory of more light for more pink, is it the same for white variegations? I just got my monstera variegata and I'm so excited, it was so hard to choose one, I hope I did it right cause a good balance of white and green is key. How can I avoid to loose the variegation or I should not be afraid? thank you ! your videos are the best!
Thank you! Yes they say light *might* influence the amount of variegation. But it's not officially researched so it's all guess work basically. And yes plants can revert (lose variegation) so it's something to keep in mind, but not worry about 😉❤️

They grew well but never consistent pink so I gave up on them. There's ones for sale now that have much more pink! But yeah try it, they're very easy to propagate and very fun!
Is a 4" pot a good size for the Pink Princess?
That's not a question I can answer. It completely depends on the size of the plant, the roots etc

Is it save to take off thr babies that are growing and pot em up???. I have two growing and i need to repot anyway because id like to stake mine up as its getting really tall. Im tryin to convince myself to docthe big cut to produce more pink, But im not ready yet lol 😂
Yes you can take them off - if they are rooted themselves then it should be easy. If they're not rooted, I would pop them in water first to root. But if you leave them in it will be a nice full pot- I actually prefer to grow Philos with more than one plant so it looks more bushy. Cutting back can help create more pink but no guarantee. I feel like Pink Princesses will throw out a beautiful pink leaf then the next one, no pink. Currently what I’m dealing with lol. I heard that the lighting won’t effect the pink because it’s in the genes, but who knows lol. Mine still gets prime sunlight in the window

I'm not propagating mine it still has pink in it . But if it does I'm just letting it grow . I keep mine on my porch. I'd rather just give it more light.

Pink Princess is a controversial plant. The developers used a chemical to create the pink. Eventually the plant will no longer have pink at all.
Nope that's pink congo! Close in name but not the same plant.
