    your pink princess philodendron looks so beautiful i have a rojo congo philodendron what i do know is that you should let the soil completely dry out before watering and it is best to soak the soil thoroughly and then allow it to drain. keep it out of direct sunlight too. it does need light but not direct sunlight. looking forward to seeing your philodendron growth.

    • @FelineJungle
      @FelineJungle  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks for the advice! My pink princess is pulled back 3 ft from the window to prevent sun damage. I do find that they like some direct light to encourage more variegation. You got really amazing results with your air layering. I vote for propagating your ppp. I bought mine off eBay. It came in a timely manner but with transport trauma and being transplanted twice, it was just to much trauma that it started to show signs that it wasn’t doing well. Like you, I spent a lot of money for it, so I didn’t want to take a chance and made the decision to chop it up into 5 cuttings. I did water propagation with the top cutting, I had 2 in perlite and 2 in spaghnum moss. The 2 in perlite and 2 in spaghnum moss stayed in a homemade propagation box for about 3 weeks. I have potted the 2 that were in perlite into soil and is doing well so far🤞🏽has roots and new growth point. The top cutting I move to spaghnum moss and is in the propagation box with the other two cuttings that are also in spaghnum moss. Gonna wait another week to plant the other 3 in soil🤞🏽🙏🏽. Really hope they all take and get acclimated to my place outside the propagation box.

    • @FelineJungle
      @FelineJungle  Před 3 lety +3

      That’s so exciting!! Glad to hear different methods of propagation are working too. Was your pink princess around the same size as mine? Also for perlite how much water did you put in it?
      I think im okay with propagating it too because the new leaf looks like it’s mostly green and looks like the size of the leaf will be normal again. also the top part has a lot roots right now. So even if I cut it up, I think it will be okay🤞

    Beautiful Princess 🌱💕 ! I recently finally got mine after waiting 3 months for a Thailand order , because of the pandemic.
    I’ve done a lot of research on this plant and I’m surprised it wants to stay more on the Dry side , let it dry out . I haven’t had mine long enough yet but I have it under plant lites and a humidifier. Good draining soil . So far So good I also heard good lighting is key , 👍🏼for the Pink . I’ll be back to see how yours is since we got them close together 💕🍃 I am Not Chopping anything off Anytime soon . I think you over water, and keep your soil too wet. Put a pole in the pot and let it climb, get rid of the moss on top of the soil. I would repot and add orchid bark and leca balls to the soil mix. Once the aerial roots can climb the pole the leaves will become larger. Your plant has many green leaves, you don’t need to worry about more pink at this point.

    I bought a lovely PPP from a reputable store in NY from their website... (you know them!) I love it but the prettiest leave was damaged and I lost it. Well the next leave tried to come, but it was stuck inside the cataphylls. It was trying so hard to come out of the bottom for so long that there was actually another leave tip starting! Well i unstuck it last night. It's going to be beautiful!!! I just hope I didn't damage it. My burgundy also was stuck with 2 leaves! Does this happen a lot? Loved your video! • @HockeyMastered
    @HockeyMastered Před rokem

    So I have seen tons of videos of people actually making a cut into their stems for air layering and I see you didn't do that. So that's not absolutely necessary to air layer? And I'm also looking at my own PPP and I'm only seeing minimal bumps AKA nodules up the stem so should I still go ahead and try to air layer? I can only see probably three different bump spots going up between each node. Maybe I should still give it a shot anyway?

    Where did you get your dress from? :O

  • @organixgirl
    @organixgirl Před 2 lety +1

    Could it initially be the soil?? I would've started it in just moss. I received on with 1 aerial root and it's in moss but your lucky to have more than 1 node. I only got 1 node 🙄 so I only have one shot.

      @FelineJungle  Před 2 lety +1

      wow one node is risky! I believe you can do it. You can start with whatever media your comfortable with.

    How often do you take out the plastic wraps?

    • @FelineJungle
      @FelineJungle  Před 2 lety

      Usually the roots will poke out and the plastic wraps will get loose. But I only take them out whenever I want to.

      I think so as long as its medium that retains some moisture. But i think it would be harder to wrap around because the particles are smaller. let me know if you try it!

      I just searched for pink princess daily on the FB market. 😅 They're becoming more available and affordable in plant shops in New York. I saw them at Chelsea garden center, Nelly's Flower Shop, Da Hing Plants and Greenery Unlimited. Just to name a few! Hope it helps!

    That’s what I hate about spag hard to get it off the roots. I think you could have put the whole plant along with moist soil in a large ziplock bag to encourage more growth. But then what, no fun keeping a plant in a plastic bag. You could get this mini greenhouse from IKEA I think they still sell it! czcams.com/video/IDYHtEV3A28/video.html

      Yesssss super toxic!! Philodendrons are common house plants and also a very common part of tropical landscaping in the southern US. All parts of all types of philodendrons are toxic to most animals, including dogs, cats, horses, birds and even people.
