    Thanks so much Kevin! You inspired me to prop my PPP that has been throwing out black cherry type leaves with no pink for a few months now. I bought it as a rescue last winter and it’s now healthy and happy but alas, no pretty variegation. Love the energy you bring to the channel!

    Alright, I just came here from the last PPP update video, and after watching you cut the mother leaf off of the node I was like "Ok that's pretty sound logic, maybe I'll try that". Interesting to hear that this is not the prevailing theory at this point. Just goes to show that there are many "correct" ways to grow plants! Love the videos, keep it up.

    Totally agree with your comments on the Siltepecana. I put mine on a shelf with a grow light thinking it would love it, and it hated it and looked awful!! 😆 I also had propagations in semi hydro which it also hated, haha. Soil and just put it on a random shelf and it seems to love life! 🤷‍♀️

    Just want to add to the pasta vs McDowell discussion: some pastazanums have a pink/red cataphyll because there's lots of variability within the species. I would personally look for these characteristics:
    - round (pasta) & D-shaped petioles (McDowell)
    - shiny (pasta) & more matte leaves (McDowell)
    - more closed sinus where petiole joins the leaf (pasta) McDowell
    McDowell
    These are just some points I've gathered on pasta vs McDowell from credible sources online & in my personal experience because at one point I was obsessed with these two 🙈

    I read if you cut the greener leaves off above the node where the pink one was it will be more pink? I have also seem people propagate these by cutting them stem and wrapping it in plastic wrap! u till it roots. In any case, the plant looks amazing!

  • @CraigSakada
    @CraigSakada Před 3 měsíci

    I have some big 3.5 PPP’s and they all reverted at a certain point to burgundy. But before they revert, their leaves just have flecks of pink kinda like the Thai con. Gotta keep it from getting to that point. So gotta prune it.

    Chop up the pink princess! Keep the pinkest leaf as a top cutting and cut the rest as single nodes, I’ve chopped mine and even pulled all the leaves off left with a wet stick prop and one of the nodes produce like tones of variegations like on every leaf in large patches it’s amazing plus you’ll end up with tones of PPP in the making🤍

      Hey thanks! Yes you definitely have to be patient sometimes but it's so rewarding 😃 I made the coco coir plank and I kind of just made it up. 2 bamboo stakes, plastic netting on the back and coco coir roll on the front. All tied down with zipties 😬

    Hi Kevin! Could you share your experience with converting plants from leca to soil someday? I did that a few days ago for the first time (still staring at it and crossing my fingers that the roots aren't rotting in soil..) and I just could not find much info on leca>soil on the internet and was super stressed about it. Very interested in hearing your tips and tricks if you have any!

Also, the plant itself plays a role and not all plants are created equal! 😩 Wonky leaves can often times be humidity or light related, just keep trying until you get it just right ❤️
