    I HATE THIS PLANT LOL. I bought this plant a year ago and it has not given me much pink over the time I've owned it. I almost wanted to throw it out. In this process, I propagate my Philodendron Pink Princess in the hopes that it will give me more pink variegation. I am personally in love with variegated plants and specifically pink variegated plants. I find that this plant does not have stable variegation and you can either get too much pink, or too much green/burgundy. I'm going to spoil it for you guys, you get to see some pink at the end so YAY! I usually follow the pattern of propagating in water and then moving the cuttings into soil or LECA/passive hydroponics/semi hydroponics. Let me know if you guys want to see more updates in the future.

    The original big leaf that was attached to the stem is actually the one that gets energy for the new baby leaves. Bigger the leaves the more it photosynthesise and gets more energy.

    • @oh_emm278
      @oh_emm278 Před 3 lety +3

      At the same time the big leaf will also use the energy from the roots to support the big leafs so the energy is kinda splits between supplying the big leaf and the new set of leafs while the root system is barely stablished ...

    • @kevin.
      @kevin.  Před 3 lety +2

      Hey Joshie! I'm super behind on filming LECA videos 😬 BUT I do want to make that a goal for 2021!! I promise you that it will be coming soon. I got the pots from Amazon (T4U self watering planters), they have 2 sizes. I don't let them callous over but definitely something I would recommend (I never had issues). I use plain old tap water in this video but I do use rapidstart from General Hydroponics sometimes. I hear good things about using peroxide but unfortunately I don't know much about that.

    • @kevin.
      @kevin.  Před 3 lety

      HELLOOOO 😀 My pink princess' are all in LECA but I had this plant for 6 months in soil and it did really well! This plant doesn't need a lot but I would definitely put it under a grow light during the winter months. This philodendron does not need a ton of humidity. It would probably be happy with 40-50% humidity.

If you, so you are incredibly brave lol!! Out of curiosity, if you had left some leaves on it, would it start pushing out new growth anyway like a pothos or a heartleaf philodendron? I don’t have much experience with propping PPP (read: none) but I have lots of ivy and have noticed that when one is injured and I clip it then it starts getting new leaves down lower on the stem. Is it the same for a PPP?
