World's Most Dangerous Roads | Kenya: The Flying Trucks of Kenya: • World's Most Dangerous...
KAROO COWBOY tells the intimate story of Seun Beukes, 29, a descendant of the San Bushmen living in one of the most inhospitable places on earth but where, once upon a time, his ancestors existed in perfect harmony with nature. He loves nothing more than being out on the veld and, in the evening, studying old westerns as he tries to learn the intricacies of riding horses and herding cattle. In a way of life that is unique to this arid corner of the Rainbow Nation, Seun reconciles the contradictions of his people’s past with his own present and sets his hopes for the future upon his young daughter who is just starting school. But this year’s unprecedented drought has reached a new record and in the anticipation of providential rain the pressure mounts.
Already fraught with uncertainty, Seun’s life is thrown into further turmoil by a sudden and startling revelation: in the face of all reason, the country’s president has declared that fracking is the miracle cure to South Africa’s energy crisis. And all the major petroleum groups are out to stake their claim. Even before the drought, water has always been a rare commodity in the Karoo and now even the precious little that remains is at risk. Seun and his family are left with a stark choice: do they finally abandon the land of their ancestors that has treated them harshly for so long, or do they stand and fight for the only life they know?

Title says "cowbow".
is this south africa
@freedocumentary could you please include the year that each documentary was made in the description?
I'm not against watching older productions in any way, I just think its relevant to be aware it is a snapshot of time that we are watching, and when that was
Thanks for sharing some great documentaries
@@niallmacpherson1213 Always in the credits and this one is from 2015
The fact that we get free videos from Free Documentary on CZcams is priceless, keeping the education and knowledge alive 🙏🙏🙏

@@James.G.Irelandcome on karen! Don't be negative.
I once heard this saying: “Only when the last tree has been cut down, the last fish been caught, and the last stream poisoned, will we realize we cannot eat money.”
Seek the Tree of Life, Jesus and you will never hunger or thirst! I can attest to this Truth!!!
I love that quote, it's from the Red Indians...so true...❤
Do you live in a house? If so you're also part of the problem, if you want to Recite quotes.. 😅
Apache quote..
Seun Beukes' story in the Karoo is a testament to the resilience and deep connection to the land. The challenges he faces, from an unprecedented drought to the threat of fracking, highlight the importance of preserving our environment. Thank you for sharing this powerful documentary.
Beautiful Documentary, I grew up in Namibia and moved to Canada and life back home is tough but the family and connection to nature is quite deep, loved this!
Are you first nation person. Wish I had lived in Karoo with a simple existence
That man and family have real life. Life with nature..
As a fellow South African it breaks my heart with the greedy industrialist that are only concerned with profit, the corrupt ANC government rubbing their hands at another opportunity to loot another company.
You speak nonsense, probably influenced by racism. Capitalism is not unique to South Africa.
This was a very heartwarming documentary. Im also from the Karoo, so i can relate to this. I wish there was more documentaries like this
It is beautiful there. You are blessed🥰
I love that lifestyle if I were to get a chance i won't think twice
I grew up in the Karoo, it is a wonderful world to grow up in. It turns very green when it rains. And it is not inhospitable at all. Many people live there, although far apart maybe.
Maybe they could get together and dig some deep lakes all around, to catch some of that rain when it comes
@@deidradahl2802 there are dams.
@@magdalaas Thanks for letting me know, but if each individual farmer dug lakes on their own land, would that not help?
Lovely videos here. People in this area mostly speak Afrikaans which comes from Dutch. Enjoy! Where are you from?
Like in Canada, the local natives did not benefit from the big oil gas companies. When they are done the land is always unlivable. Wall Street is all about profits for Wall Street not the people who have lived in that land for centuries.
Yeah.I’ve worked in the oilfields of North Dakota.it’s true the local communities barely benefit from all that wealth
These documentaries have made me get familiar with how my planet look like
❤❤Bushmen are extremely interesting and unique people. I feel like they are a Precious part of our heritage that should be protected.
Leave the fracking in other lands. Let these animals and people continue their lives
So you wanna curse other lands 2 wrongs don’t make a right
Loved this. I hope they win the fight and can stay on their land❤
Prachtige documentaire. Als Nederlandse is het hier gesproken Afrikaans heel, goed te verstaan. ❤
My favorite place when I travel, the food is always good, the boers are a kind of people that can farm anywhere in the world, maybe the ones South Africa should protect them
The world most inhospitable place is not a physical location but a greedy mind / heart that is never satisfied or content...
My father is from this area..must show him this
I love this people...i grow up i know the life style...but peopl are hungry for anything and the end the poor will feel the pain...let them stand up for what is full they Kultur...karoo cowboy❤
Looks similar to where I live in Wyoming.
In democracy will of the people matters. Politicians will use the terms 'will/welfare of the majority' only during elections. After coming to power they change it to ' for the majority of politicians, bureaucracy and businessmen'. If you ask the biggest hydraulic cracking country ( petroleum oil) the motto will be same, everything in the name and for the majority of the people. That country and this country are in the forefront of the fight against climate change and vociferously clamouring for shift from fossil fuel to the fashionable -green energy. All the heads of states , including mine, are hypocrites - still repeatedly using private jets, etc., for travel and air-conditioning for 'healthy' living. Good documentary. Surviving in deserts is more inhospitable than living in the Artic or Antartica!
The Karoo is massive, farm the greener areas, conserve a piece, frac and mine the rest
My Home, the Karoo!
Cool video
Driftybullshit
I live in the Great Karoo. This is prime farming country...not surprising the countries richest man is a stones throw away on these "bad lands"
I love it here
This place isn't inhospitable,,as a matter of fact,,how I wish I grew up in this kind of life.
Thank you🇿🇼
Thank you for posting.®®®
LIKE ALL TIME GOOD VIEO
This channel ROCKS ❤❤
Thanks Mr Andries bush cowboys are so happy & healthy, happy community
Thats awesome. They're like african bushmen amish.
when was this and have there been any developments made to prevent the industries from taking the land of the people?
damn a good one
So many places on Earth are extremely dry. Seems worse having lived in New England... where water is everywhere and all is green..
Lord Forgive Me If I Ever Ever Complaint About Anything in Life 💯🙏🏾
What I never understand is if there is a water problem, why aren't they planting special trees so the trees can keep sun away from soil. Engineering a tree for a specific purpose isn't that hard
Selectively breeding trees takes hundreds of generations, since trees take forever to grow, do the math.
If you wish to genetically modify trees, then release them into what is essentially pristine wilderness you better have billions of dollars to grease the right palms. & hope the scientists get it right and the issue is actually helped and not worsened
To me it's better than city life, don't seem that inhospitable at all maybe rough day to day but doable
You think that while you sitting at home waiting for McDonalds breakfast. You won't last 1 hour before you be like hell naw bruh I'm good. Remember Dont forget to tip your dasher lazy man.
Not Africa, Jamaica is similar at times
Different strokes for different folks. I'll take city life any day with endless things to do, culture and diversity, history, art and sports.

I can't stand it- cities of despair.
Cities of sin.
But they do have their benefits- stores close by, and close neighbors if help is needed.
I will stick with the bible which says don't build your house on your neighbors border and don't stack your belongings where someone else is.
When was this recorded? The karoo ended up having a drought for 8 years. It ended last year, so this must have been recorded a while ago?
The meeting that was held in the town date was February 2015 so that is a very long time
No to fracking! Government will benefit and there friends.
Good princess Jean Burgess
Sugar bush.... netuurlik dat is Suikerbossie❤
When can I move in?
7:43 ...The music ...😢
This is the real life.
The true khoisan
Why çant SA gvt create a national company like Saudi to benefit South Africa. Black, white, coloured, bushmen etc unite and fight this to death
As Africa we are fed up seeing our resources carted off to the West while we benefit nothing
The Karoo is beautiful leave it alone
But it's too much now with repeats, past sometimes you where posting 1 or 2 docs
God
Ala nasayaat ngarud kabsa
im not suprised i know a lot of them and there not even showing them
Which future we are being dragged in?
If South Africa didn't have a corrupt, incompetent and clueless government this place could've been developed and be like Las Vegas (Nevada) because the landscape of both the karoo and Nevada are the same.
My goodness we don't want woke in Africa special South Africa..... Miami Florida, Houston Texas, Nashville Tennessee they're are better compared to the las Vegas NV..
This film was made in 2015, wonder what has happened now, maybe the fracking has made all of them rich.
Frakes off.
in what province are they based here in South Africa
Northren Cape
This is the Eastern Cape.
Northern Cape, west area.
I rather be here than the place got war going on!
WHO LISTENS POOR PEOPLE
Why can’t the “boss” help them purchase a car. And did you see how he had to ride at the back of the van. The “boss” YT still rules.
27:45 why did they have to kill porcupines?
To eat, that is food on their table..
This is South Africa. They are not cowboy's!! Been there many times, have family living there as well 😂
The bushmen and ranchers are a renewable economy.
The oil is temporary income and the methods use to extract it here have a high chance of ruining the water reserves there.
Easy choice in my mind, go with the bushmen and ranchers renewable resources development.
What language he spoken?
Afrikaans
the language is similar with Dutch
They are dutch speaking people who came from Europe 😢
Because of Dutch settler violence that robbed Khoikhoi First nation people of our lands and forced us to work as slaves and to speak Dutch/Afrikaans.
It's Afrikaans force during apartheid
Well, his is the first South African language I can't recognise.
Afrikaans
Drought In the desert. Who would've thunk
Subtitles are annoying, and take away from the viewing experience. It is better to use translators.
Pioneer family😂😂😂😂😂you mean coloniser
Guys....not every white person is an active coloniser. We have a complicated history. Even the black tribes fought their way into southern africa and had countless battles with resident tribes. I would say probably the khoi khoi and bushmen were the foundational tribes here.
You are showing your ignorance. 🙄
Once again people going for clickbait with total Untruths! Without doubt the most inhospitable place on the planet is Antartica. Try living there!
The solution is easy the company can bring lots of water that they need using sea water not the local fresh water.
salt water could pollu8te the land, and then the desert would be totally inhospitable if the soil becomes too saline for plants to grow.
@@quitlife9279 the salt water should be injected to the subterrenean level and this will not effect the surface soil this is how saude arabia pump out the oil
@@reylambarte5615 wouldn't that turn groundwater salty, and affect the well water being pumped out?
@@quitlife9279 no because the main source of ground water is rain. The best remedy to desert areas is to make measures that will inhance the rain. There are lots of instruction about this. Oil wells will give lots of work and prosperity to the place unlike the open pit minings that will destroy the place.
This is nonsense.
make them in English 😠😠😠😠😠😠
Just read the subtitles. 😊
Unfortunately, we all know that fossil fuels will be the death of this planet.
The death of this earth is European greed that encourages private ownership of land and natural resources...it has nothing to do with fossil fuels...
💯
This channel really isn’t 😢😢😢what it was a few years ago 😢😢
*God is Good!!! I just Acquired a new House also receiving $52K bi-weekly profits. Despite all the financial struggles i and my family faced, everything is finally falling into place!*

While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
In him we have a new identity. Continue in the faith my brother
Thank you Jesus for your mercy on him, amen

Hip bone connected to my leg bone. Dang them cows aint got but dead weeds and dirt to eat. They have to be tasty..😅
Same old story. Misinformation and ignorance. In west Texas the oil companies and the ranchers got along fine. The oil companies kept everything in top notch shape. The ranchers knew that and appreciated that fact. Fracking and production did no harm for the 31 years I was in the oil patch. Ask the ranchers. They will tell you the same.👍
Terrible
These are the tribes and people's the ANC tribes conquered and pushed out of their homelands
I thought the world's most inhospitable place was the USA!
Y. Precisamente. Algo así quería mirar. Y. No estoy echando mentiras. Que no tengo sus mañas
You would suprise yourself if you was put in a situation where you had to learn how to improvise to survive.
Las mañas de quienes?
Some details are inaccurate and misleading.
You are allowed to admit that white afrikaaners taught some people this way of life and language, i can guarantee you it was not hunter-gatherers. 🙄
Hubter gatherers certainly were there but had a very different way of life.
