I found the perfect kit for Drills and Chills. This will be my first event. I am so excited.
🔻Many, many good nuggets in this video. My brain about exploded when you spoke about the correlation between anxiety and anger. I felt that deeply.

🍒🍓🍒🍓 so today is my 14th wedding anniversary and we are going to celebrate on Fri with Dinner and dancing. Thanks for all the time you put into these videos for us.
A few suggestions as a former kid with autism who grew up with not great financial situations. The YMCA does have financial assistance programs (water & swimming is really good for autism and sensory seeking). Sure summer camps are great but just as awesome is local state parks. Playing in creeks comprise some of my favorite memories. I've personally never enjoyed amusement parks. Way way over stimulating especially the rides. But I loved when my parents set up a hammock with both ends hung from the same spot a tree so I could spin myself in it. Corn starch and water is also so much fun to play with. We also were lucky enough to be very close to the zoo and spent many hours there.
Thank you for being vulnerable. My children are adults, but when they were in fourth and sixth grade, my husband lost his job for an entire year. Somehow we survived, although it seemed hopeless at the time. We pinched pennies and the kids couldn’t do all the activities that they had previously experienced. I pray things change in a positive way very soon for your family. ❤❤❤
Hi Katie My name is Vanessa, I am a new Diamond Painting crafter. I have only completed 3 diamond paintings so far. So far I am enjoying this new to me craft. I have discovered DAC and after getting 1 kit from amazon( which I never started). I bought a DAC and completed it, I can only say..... what a difference in quality. So far I have only done DAC kits.
I have to my surprise created a little stash. I will only do1 at a time and this kit must be completed before I move on to the next. I enjoy your channel, be in some ways I fill like I;m on a Island alone with this craft. Keep up the great work......:) 😬

Great WIP &Chat! I’ve forgotten half of what I was gonna comment but here’s what my tired brain remembers (please forgive me, it’s after 6 pm and still around 105.) When working on projects I like listening to WIP & Chats, various unboxing s, music or talking books. I do love physical books (helpful as I work in a library). I can’t listen to books while driving, as I lose track of the story 😂. Current listen is “Making it So” by Patrick Stewart… had to listen as he reads it. Looking forward to Drills and Chills, it will be my 2nd event. My first was Summer with the masters. ❤ your channel!

I'm relatively new to diamond painting and I usually use the pen that comes with the kit. I haven't purchased a fancy pen cause I'm on a fixed income.
Instead of buying pens I prefer to but kits, so I really like the new pen from Diamond Art.

Appreciate your vulnerability. I struggle being a single disabled mother of 3 I'm legally blind so I can't work any more, but be careful when filling out forms for certain assistances cause they will say no they can't help if certain things are written. I totally will dm my personal things that happened with me during rge process of getting certain assistances. Any way keep your head up an keep being amazing 😊
I’m glad you got so many supportive comments last week. I have been in a similar place and my gods. Money stress (especially with kids) is just not something you can understand if you’ve never been through it. 💃
Re: 90s movies, I have definitely passed looks like that with my husband- like wtf? Was this not only something we were ALLOWED to watch, but it was made for our age? Something was different then, culturally. I’ve watched so much crap I’d never let my youngest (7.5) watch. The Neverending Story?! I loved it, but that movie was a trauma fest. ARTEX!!!! 🥺🥺

Highlander was a great (old) movie. I think there were 2. So so good - worth finding. Never watched the show and don’t know if it was ever a book.

🍎Glad you are feeling a bit better, maybe more in control. I have been struggling last week and over the weekend. I couldn't even diamond paint. But I am feeling better and good to know we both seem to be on the path to more normal brain days :). Thanks for all that you do.
🍟 I enjoy reading both by ebook and audiobook. I am notorious for having a hard time finishing series so this year I have embraced starting the next book in a series by audio and after I start it, I seem to be able to finish it. It has been a game changer for me! Also, I listened to a podcast episode maybe a year or two ago about where Stockholm syndrome came from and that it might not actually be real. It was super fascinating! I listened to this while at work. Anyways, I hope your week has gone okay and I look forward to your next wip & chat!

You have no idea how much you just helped me. I’ve been really trying to be more tolerant and less impatient, I wasn’t really making much progress. I couldn’t figure out why I could not get a better handle on this. I have GAD and social anxiety, terrible social even though I force myself because I work in health care. I never correlated it to anxiety. I know you’re not a therapist but if in your next WIP maybe you could elaborate on what/why? So much appreciated! Prayers and good vibes sent to you! ❤
Thank you for the WIP and chat, Katie. There is always a light at the end of the tunnel. It will get better. I know its a struggle right now and it seems like there is no end in sight but you will get through this! So glad to hear that Connor likes the 'new' swim instructor and hope he learns a lot! I loved taking my kids to Chucky Cheese when they were little, I am sure they are having a blast! Have a better week!
I think the reason for the kids movies about mice is due to the popularity of both Beverly Cleary’s “The Mouse and the Motorcycle” and “Stewart Little” books. I remember asking my mom to make up a bedtime story for us and she picked a plot around a mouse as the main character. 😂
Also, as far as creepy/scary children’s movies, I loved “The Dark Crystal” when I was little which is SO creepy and quite scary, lmao!
I have struggled with being able to focus on just one thing at a time for the past few years so audiobooks have been my way to consume any content at all. However, I cannot bring myself to listen to anything at a higher speed than “normal” because I enjoy the subtleties of the narration and the narrator’s voice inflections. It amazes me when someone says they listen at 2x speed. Currently enjoying a relisten to the entire Dresden Files series because of James Marsters as the narrator. ❤🌹

The way I was struggling with static when you were talking about it at the beginning....girl! I was kitting up Squidward for our family beach trip next week. Then I switched to put a few drills down on Tokyo by Night before bed. The hubs and I like to lay down early, watch some TikTok's or binge watch a show. Right now we're watching Deadliest Catch on most nights, but we're also watching Dark Matter on Apple TV. It was one of my top 5 favorite books of all time, so I'm wanting to savor the show
I've been an avid "eyeball" reader my entire life. For me it's not just a book... it's an experience. The feel and smell of the paper and ink. The actual process of reading... physically turning a page, the print on the page. When I read a book... I actually "see it happening in my mind".... just like a movie. I don't get this experience at all with an audio book and I can't focus as well on the story either. I miss a lot.
You MUST watch the Highlander series. Christopher Lambert is the main actor. I really enjoyed them. But I would think you don't need to watch them before the new one. I guess that would depend if the new one is a remake or a sequel.
So glad Connor likes his swim teacher, and they had a connection. That make such a big difference in a child's ability to learn.

I have been looking at pieces trying to decide for next year’s SWTM event. Right now I seem to be leaning towards The Soul of the Rose but I also like Windflowers and Boreas. So many great pieces!

I read both type of books honestly. I like to read traditional books when it comes to fiction for pleasure reasons but when I have to read text books for college I like to listen to the book.
I am probably the slowest diamond painter ever but I am currently working on a mystery kit from diamond art club and also keep a sunflower diamond painting at my day program that I currently volunteer at/ attend
80's kid so most of what we watched and did would be considered scetchy now. Batman is a bit intense but insanely good. Hang in there, the sun will shine again.
Great W&C! Love that painting. I am a big reader and mostly prefer actual reading of books on my Kindle but I do love the occasional audio book when narrated by the author. Viola Davis’s memoir is incredible (she won a Grammy for her narration) as is Trevor Noah’s Born A Crime.

Great WIP n Chat. I've been putting the finishing touches on a canvas I'm gifting to a friend. I've glued the Diamond Painting on a full framed canvas. It's Sitting On A Sunflower from Art and Soul Diamond Painting. It's a Jessica Becket-Griffith piece. 🐞🌼

secret of nimh, watership down, transformers the movie, dot and the kangaroo were some of the typical 80s kids trauma pack lol. i personally loved watership down so much that i watched it almost every day and i was drawing bloody fighting rabbits on my school work. it disturbed my 3rd grade teacher so much she called my parents. and i was grounded from watching it and got a belt beating on top of it.
💥 I definitely know what you mean about anxiety expressing as anger. I work at a vet hospital. We see 20+ pets in only 10 hours. I'm really starting to feel burned out. I'm not really enjoying life these days. Hopefully things get better for you.
I love Diamond Art Studio UK....have bought several kits from them and was able to add on a Yellow Dog tray and putty by Cat. Looking forward to their new releases

Thanks for another WIP n’chat. I always love starting my week off with a cup of coffee and a diamond painting while I listen to you. This week I’m working on “The Pumpkin Herder” from DAC. I had been out of town last week and only took paint gems with me. It’s so good being back home and working on this DP again.
My last week was in Georgia with my in-laws. It’s become tradition since my hubby spoils the kids with a nice firework show. They also have a pool which is a real treat. The downside is that I can’t turn pens away from the house so now I’m playing catch-up. Thankfully I did get ahead a little before I left town. Now it’s time to hit the ground running as much as I can. I work out if mh garage. In Florida. In the summer. ☹️ It ends up working out. And when it’s a labor of love then you make it happen.
I hope you are ok. I can’t imagine the pressures you’re feeling with the changes in insurance and Adam job hunting. I know you’re one tough cookie and a great momma bear and it will work out. 🖍️
I’ve decided to sit out on two events I was debating doing this month, and think I will work on The Enterprise while watching ST:TNG before my paramount subscription ends. Now to figure out my drills and chills painting!

We've been watching 90s movies with our 7 year old. The parts that scared us, didn't bother her at all. I am working on my Summer with the Masters kit as well.
🇺🇸 Reading, I enjoy reading the words on the page, sitting down and fully concentrating on the book. Listening to an audio book is too distracting, too many other activities get in the way.
As a kid I always best remember activities shared with my parents or family, it wasn’t the big outings. It was hiking, picnics, vacations to see the sights, national parks, the redwoods. Even going to an orchard to pick fresh fruit like cherries or peaches. California has a huge number of scenic locations to visit.
Love listening to you. It‘s ok to not be a happy hippo all time - who is. Whish Adam the best of luck 🤞 to find a new job so you all can relax and enjoy the time with your kiddos even more ❤❤❤❤
Highlander was a TV show, but the movie came first. I don’t remember if it was based on a book. I loved the TV show. “There can be only one.” ❤
The Highlander movie came first and it's a great fantasy/sci-fi romp. There are follow up movies and Highlander movie fans try to ignore the 2nd movie all together. The Highlander tv show surprisingly, is better than most of the movies, imho.
Katie, I highly recommend viewing the original Highlander series if it is available. I didn't much care for the movies, but the tv series is really good. Duncan McLeod is easy on the eye. I actually have the entire series on VHS tape. . Don't ask me what I will do with them! Along with the VHS tapes of the entire Star Trek:TNG series!
so, I got a new Diamond Art Club kit in today. I got city digs and cannot wait to get started on it. However, I did get out the new putty pen and I’m finishing up the one that I’m working on now and thought I would try it out. I do like it, but I seem to have better control with a regular and putting the putty on the pan as you normally would. I like the one that came in the kit just because it is always loaded and ready, but the pin that I was using prior to that is a fat pen but I feel like I have more control with it than I do the one that came in the kit, all that makes sense

Thank you for sharing your struggles and successes with us this week. I am so grateful this group is supportive. I am glad to hear Connor's (Conner's) swim lessons are going well. You mentioned the show Highlander and I smiled ear to ear. My Connor was born in 1998 and I was a huge fan of the show and his name came from the Connor McLeod character on that show! Highly recommend.
I can't tell you the last time I held an actual book and read it. I prefer e-books now but I listen to audio books as I diamond paint. I was working on Love Bird Lodge during the WIP and chat.

I was eating breakfast and getting ready for work during the wip and chat. "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?" is one of the Taylor Swift songs that resonates with me the most. Because the album dropped right around graduation time I was reminded of how people thought I would never finish college but I proved them wrong. ❤

I hate audio books! They are too slow but I can’t speed them up because I can’t stand how that sounds haha Jim dale is fine, and honestly Louis sacher reading his wayside books is great, narnia is great. Otherwise no audio for me.
So who do you recommend to use for a custom job? I'm trying to find a soccer ⚽ pic for my grandson but can't find anything bigger than a 30x30, so...
How do you like the squares by Jaded Gem Shop? I have a canvas from another source, American made (NOT a cheap, unlicensed, aliexpress or temu type) provider and the squares have an inordinate amount of space between them. Its bad....and it was so frustrating! I like the look of squares better...I'm trying to decide between a DAC or Jaded Gem Shop for next canvas....would appreciate your opinion! thanks!
Pursue speech therapy through the school, it should be provided for the boys. Not so much in the summer, I know.
