    🐠 I use to be a one WIP at a time person, but I started burning out on some of them. My thing is life is too short. Do what u enjoy! If u are feeling burnt out start something u are excited about. Now I have quite a few Wips going and I work on which ever one I feel like in the moment.
    Rendering and drill quality are the 2 most important things I look for when purchasing a DP.
    I also look at "blingability", if that's a word. Lol
    I like to buy canvases that I can add Sparklers and special drills too as well as finding a canvas with beautiful colors. ❤

    🐠🐡 I normally don't listen to whole WIP and chats. Pretty new so I will say rendering is important. Yes, get a second quote or even three quotes for that small amount of painting. We have more time than money, I'm retired and bought in a senior community moved from NorCal to SoCal and this house had atrocious paint colors. We painted the entire interior 1650 sq ft ourselves. It came out pretty good. I think I live about 1 and 1/2 hours from where you live. Anyway went to school here in CA and when I was a kid here we did not have that half day nonsense. So much has changed... Enjoyed hearing your updates I managed to get that DP you are working on I can't wait to see your finish on her.

    🐠 my make or break for diamond painting is the quality. If the drills have a lot of trash, symbols are hard to see, drills pop or whatever else can come up- it’s so frustrating to me. I can handle getting thru a not so great rendering as long as the supplies aren’t wearing me out. I’m glad to hear your mom is doing ok! Also for your burn out- I was going to suggest it but you also mentioned it.. get your your favorite paint gem set that brings you happiness! Maybe do a row of this WIP and then do a couple prints from the paint gem set and then do another row of the WIP. I always find breaking things up like that gives me a plan and keeps me motivated on a print I’m struggling to complete.

  • @amydburwell
    @amydburwell Před rokem +1

    My dealbreaker is the quality of the print. It has to be in focus! 🐟🐠 FYI the painting sometimes is the most expensive part! We were quoted over $1000 for one bedroom in TX 🤯🤯!! Have a great week!

    🐠🐟 Can't wait to see this one completed. The colors are beautiful! What's most important? Really finding all of you content creators comments to know where to go. Less than a year under my belt, learning all of the lingo, and what to watch for has been most important to me. I'm finding that the rendering is DEF on the top of my list, but quality drills are neck and neck. I've experienced poor quality drills and have been miserable. Seeing completed kits before buying has also been in my top five things. And lastly, giving companies a chance with one round and one square purchase is what I try to do (after I watch content videos about the companies). So THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for making your videos. They help SO MUCH!

    🐟🐟🐟I think my main dealbreakers are being unable to easily read/decipher the charting (too-confusing symbols) combined with either too much gapping/popping with square drills -- I had both of those with Christmas Deer and I had to put it away to maybe try again next Christmas (probably not...). Also feel you about the highly detailed large square kits -- I have been working on Fenya, finally in the last quarter of this painting, and I have never worked on something so incredibly detailed. But my goodness, the painting and detail is just absolutely stunning. I honestly won't know what to work on next until I finally finish this and I see what events are around/coming up -- I feel like I'm always about 2 weeks late to each event . :) Hope everyone feels better soon! Love your videos! :)

    The most important thing to me with diamond painting is drill quality. After that, it would be the colors/image, but I don't really care much about the rendering. I only hang a couple of paintings, it's more about the enjoyment about working on it. So if the drills are beautiful quality and the colors are pretty, the rendering makes no real difference. Don't care about poured glue vs double sided adhesive, don't care about canvas material.

  • @jennifernesci
    @jennifernesci Před rokem +1

    Hi Katie. I can't really think of anything that is a deal breaker for me. I just love the process. I have found some things that make the process more difficult, double sided adhesive, blurry symbols, and inconsistent sized squares, but there is almost always a solution for those issues. I also tend to freestyle on canvases to make them more my own, so rendering also becomes a non-issue. With that said I am on diamond painting 11, so what do I know, LOL. 😆Thank you for sharing and well wishes for your family!🐟🐠

  • @elizabethwarman9028
    @elizabethwarman9028 Před rokem +1

    Good morning Katie, I am still working on the Moon setting over the Pacific. Realizing this canvas is right in the middle heavy confetti. But, that is not a problem for my ADHD brain. But, an old back injury has acted up. So, I am taking Muscle Relaxant every four hours. Fun times. So, what I do, I work on the canvas for two hours in the AM, and three hours in the PM.
    I am a third generation Californian. And third generation American on my Mom's side. 1/2 days are nothing unusual in California. Especially Southern California. But, it also depends on the district. I had a friend who was a teacher of special Ed. She would tell my late sister and I, that 1/2 days was where the head of the district would have meetings in order to call teachers and principals on the carpet( what they did wrong). I have another friend who thought God wanted her to teach. So, she left the Food industry, and got her credentials to teach. She taught public for three years. Decided she didn't like the public schools. She then started teaching at a paricol school. This lasted another three years. Now, apparently God wants her to work handling from her brother's home the commissions for different small insurance companies. I personally think God doesn't tell you anything.
    I glad to hear Connor is moving into general population at school. Believe it or not but Autism, ADD, and ADHD are on the same spectrum. All three are brain disorders. But, back in the 60s and 70s ( when I was in school), children, primarily boys with Autism, ADD, and ADHD were thrown permanently into special education. Until this Century no one in the education or psychology field even thought females could have Autism, ADD, or ADHD. I diagnosed ADHD when I was in my early 50s. This diagnosis explained everything to me.
    Are you aware with your home repairs you can use your home owners insurance. This is even with Condos and Townhouses. I have no clue of the cost of sheetrock. But, I do know people in the construction industry will charge more if you live in a county known for being full of rich people. It also depends on the city you live in also. I live in Los Angeles County, in the city of Downey. I live in Northwest Downey. North is known for wealthy people. So, handymen, etc think they can charge more money. I own rental properties. The Whittier Earthquake has come back to haunt me. Some of my renters never told my parents, where they lived had Earthquake damage. Right! One rental after the renters quickly moved out, my handyman found out the house had slipped six inches off its foundation. My caregiver kept insisting the house came off the foundation because of the water bring emptied from the stand up pool. I keep telling her this was nonsense. Also, the handyman found Maggots under the tub. This means something died under the house. My caregiver states those are worms, and water makes worms. Just like my Canadian Grandma used to say dust made spiders. No, those are Maggots, baby Flies. My Handyman also said there were like 4feetx4feet rooms in the garage. About 25 to 30 of them. Can you say Human trafficking?
    Now, back to Diamond Painting. If you are starting to feel burn out, then step away from the project you are working on and do a simple one.
    What do you mean by contests, or something else?
    I don't know how to do emojies on CZcams. But, I would not have responded if I hadn't watched your video.
    Have a wonderful day.

That’s a game changer. The depth in the pen where u add the glue dot is bigger. I can go for a couple weeks with it filled & no reloading. I paint a lot too. I say definitely get 1 or even 2 more estimates! If it doesn't seem right it probably isn't.
    I use glue dots most of the time, if it keeps coming out of the pen, it's probably too sticky. Try dabbing it on your shirt or pants to get rid of a little of the sticky and it should stay in the pen.
    The main thing for me is the rendering. I wonder sometimes if that's why I'm not into portraits or 'people', because they never look right and I end up not getting them. I also don't care what kind of materials the drills are made from, I only care that they are uniform in size and won't pop.

    Hi Katie, I buy kits based on the rendering, but whether I finish it or not is all about the drill quality. If there is a lot of mis-matched drill sizes or trash, I will dump the kit no matter how much I like the image. I am working on a painting now that the rendering is amazing (white lion) and the drill quality is great but with all of that I am strugglinig because the charting is not what I was expecting. Instead of the lion being white like depicted (I bought it because the image reminded me so much of my late husband), it is the normal caramel colored lion. 🐟

    Love that mermaid pen! I need a poured glue canvas. Then, I look at the composition and color. Check to see if the size is appropriate. Then, the renderings. Unicorns should look like unicorns and faces like a face and not a caricature. Most decent canvases have good clarity of symbols, so I don't worry about it too much. Lastly, price. If it is a good sharp rendering, and it's what I want, it is worth the price. Recently bought from The Jaded Gem Shop and am anxious to see it as I was very impressed.

    Hi, a deal braker for me when I look at diamond painting is design then quality of the materials used. I would definitely get a second bid for the work inside your house. I know some charge for finish construction vs rough cut because it can be more time consuming. I cannot wait for my glass mermaid to be delivered it should be here later today! 🐟

    🐟🐠🐡🎏 I’m currently working on Kraken #1 from DAC. I would definitely get a second opinion on the work that needs to be done to your house. I had a similar experience with my vehicle. The guy knew I needed to get the work done in order to get my truck on the road and he jacked the price up because he thought I was desperate and would just give him whatever he said. Took it to another shop and luckily the second guy was very honest and his price was a lot more reasonable.

    Hi Katie yes the rendering is the big thing for me too… the other thing is the quality of the drills how they fit together but also how they fit on the canvas… I gravitate towards resin drills and poured glue canvases… I definitely don’t like the rendering when it ends up looking dotty for lack of a better words, usually when there is no hand touch up charting… love ur videos and feedback thanks for it all!

    🐠The size of the canvas is usually my biggest concern. Anything over 80cm wide is usually an strong no. It has to be really spectacular if it’s wider than 80ish cm. And the amount of confetti, I don’t enjoy pulling out colors for one drill over and over. 🐠

    My make or break are basically the same as yours. I want a good rendering. If I am going to put all that work into a diamond painting I would prefer it to look nice. I am not an artist so I can't rechart a piece and make it look good.
    I'm glad to hear your mom is having mild symptoms. Hopefully she recovers quickly.

    🐠 🐟 look forward to watching to see how this turns out 😍 I was one of the lucky people to get her & possibly planning to do for #dakotathon. I’m also very interested in rendering as you are. After diamond painting nearly 10 years, it’s taken so long to narrow down what is most important to me. Because I most definitely have encountered some truly atrocious renderings. Some that were not even recognizable to even fix if I wanted to. So grateful this craft continues to evolve to what it has. So much more enjoyable to me. Lastly, if you feeling the burnout, pick up a snack size, that almost always pulls me out, & gives me a change of scenery, just long enough to recharge me. 😉

    High quality materials are a must for me followed by rendering. If the frills or popping, the glue is bad or the art itself looks funky I'm just not going to relax into the process at all.
    Glad your mom is having a mild case, and I hope it clears up fast! 🐠

    Rendering is make it or break it for me. It needs to be really good. The drills can be swapped. The adhesive should be strong enough, but I can work with most kits. I guess I do like a soft canvas. I agree, though. Rendering is so crucial. I don't want it to look 8 bit, unless that's part of the artwork.

    I think the most important thing for dps is the accuracy of the color. For instance, I really wanted Solstice by Lovell from DAC. But the color of her face was wrong and I was so disappointed, I couldn’t buy it. I’d been waiting a long time for it.

    for me deal breakers are if the drills don't stick to the canvas after trying a few times placing it where i want to go and if no matter how hard i roll to keep the drills in their place they will not

    Rendering and good quality drills are definitely the most important to me. If the rendering isn't turning out nice, I'm not going to enjoy the final product and then I don't see a point in completing the painting. As for drill quality, popping squares are an automatic no for me. I pushed through and finished a canvas with popping problems once because I absolutely loved the rendering, but it was more frustrating than relaxing so I'll never do that to myself again 😅🐠

    Hi Katie, I have renovated 5 homes. I am talking about ripping down to the studs and starting fresh. In the one thing I have learned is painting is always expensive. I also like in Australian and 850 sounds wonderful. I just paid 15 thousand to paint the whole inside of the house. My last house is probably bigger then your home. As someone who does this I am more then happy to pay someone to paint. I think it’s horrible to paint. It’s such fiddly work. I don’t like bad drills and p

    🐠 A deal breaker for me is inconsistent drill size with square drills. Also, with squares if the spacing on the canvas is too large. So much gapping! Currently, I am working on Faces of Fairy 84 by JBG. She is for the Mermaids and Magic event. She has beautiful blues, purple and pink drills. Several are ABS and CRYSTALS!. It is turning out so sparkly. I love your Glass Mermaid. Beautiful colors.

    Rendering is a deal breaker and definitely drill quality. I’ve thrown diamond paintings away bc the drills just didn’t sparkle. I’m currently working on an older DAC painting called War Pony, and the image is beautiful, but it’s using the old round drills. Let’s just say they’re less than impressive on sparkle 🤷‍♀️

    Oooh I'd love more content on Xstitch conversions! I may have to try that putty as well, I prefer thicker putties and LOOOOVE mint and other astringent scents. 🐠🐡🐡🦈🦈🐟🐟
    What makes a DP for me is the rendering style, the glue quality and the quality of the drills. I also love sparkle, but I don't like TOO much sparkle. I actually really don't like DAC's newest drills because I find I get a bit of a sensation overload with the constant glinting. I would LOVE to try matte drills for a DP if they existed! What breaks a DP for me is non-sticky glue. I hate glue that doesn't stick. I also will not buy from a company that exploits its customers so there are a few of the big companies that are solidly on my blacklist now. Poor rendering is also a killer. Bad drills aren't a deal breaker if the rendering is good, because I can use leftovers or buy more from Evermoment to finish it. I really dislike having to essentially re-chart shoddy rendering though.
