I moved from Texas to Mexico seven years ago. The first two years I lived in Ajijic, Jalisco but then moved to Queretaro. I am a single female and I feel a million times safer here than I did in Houston. I avoided moving into Juriqilla because it is full of expats and I want more of the REAL experiences of Mexico. I’m in the El Refugio/Zibata area.

In 2012 I caught a bus from Allende and walked in that area all day, just loving the color and peace. Ate some street food, sat on a bench and thought about how it would be a good place for an ex-pat.
