    We are thrilled we finally got to visit Santiago de Querétaro after hearing so many good things about this city. But we clearly didn't do enough research, because for some reason we missed how magical Queretaro's Centro neighborhood was (go ahead and drag us in the comments - we deserve it!). We've had such a blast exploring this charming downtown (that seems to go on for miles in each direction), tasting all the amazing vegan food and seeing the entire city celebrate Dra de Muertos. I think one of the reasons its really good is how close it is to places you're going to want to visit. San Miguel de Allende and Mexico City are pretty close all things considered. Smaller and less well known places like Bernal and Tequisquiapan (lesser known places among foreigners that are hidden gems). QRO is a thriving city that locals complain is "getting too expensive" but its really a place people who are looking to move to Mexico, especially if you want great weather, should consider. Similar to San Miguel de Allende but less foreigners. There are lots of factories in the vicinity so there are times where there's bad air quality, apparently, although I didn't notice it when I was there.

      Go wine tasting. We liked Norte B. Their wine flights are basically 6 full wine glasses! And it was delicious! Also climb the Peña de Bernal. Amazing views! After, have some pulque.

      Visit Parque Querétaro 2000. It’s huge and a very nice place to exercise. Also, visit the Antea mall. And take a tour on a double decker bus. The tour is in Spanish, but you get to see the historic downtown. And visit Hercules beer garden for some craft beers.

      We have stayed in QRO for 3 months, actually 5-mins away from Veggie Happy :D and loved every single moment in this city! there was another (cheaper and better for us) vegan restaurant nearby called Clorofila. Highly recommend it for lunch - they have a menu but their burgers were our absolute fav with crunchy, APPLES!!!!! there is a park as well with a huge Benito Juarez statue (Cerro de las Campanas) which is an important historical place for Mexico. Just sit down and wait for the squirrels, colourful birds, butterflies, a nice green area in the city! awww, thanks for bringing those nice memories back. HAVE FUN!!! :)

    I’m crying looking at this video. I have been waiting for almost a year to do my pre-trip to Queretaro before I move permanently in May 2022. I’m leaving next week Tuesday for 5 days. Doing the same run that you guys are doing. Flying into Mexico City then taking the 3 1/2 hour bus ride. CAN’T WAIT! I am so excited. Your journey to Queretaro and video could not have come at a better time for me. Viva Mexico!

    I am watching you from Queretaro, Mexico, where I have relocated, It is a beautiful, safe, and clean city in the middle of Mexico, and 3 hours from Chicago. I have a beautifully furnished apartment overlooking the entire city from my balcony and living room. My apartment includes all paid utilities and maid service. I have a driver also to shop for me. Not bad for a 79 years young retiree. USA became too expensive and deadly for me, so I called 1-800 Got Junk and had my entire two bedrooms emptied, and I did not have junk. They charge $800 per truck with 2 men, and I needed 4 and one half trucks with 10 men, and it took 6 and one half hours. I had lived there almost 24 years, and all they did was go up on everything, and only took care of the outside, except geese and dog droppings.YUCK!
    Please let go and let God always.

We thought it might be nice and a good first step into our journey into Mexico, but we could seriously see ourselves settling here forever. So glad to see you liked it! Loved your first Queretaro video - looking forward to the second one tomorrow! :-) I began researching places to retire about 4 years ago and - on paper - had decided on Queretaro. After traveling to Mexico several times, we've decided to move to San Miguel de Allende. It's only about an hour from Queretaro, which is awesome. We both LOVE Queretaro, but we have been bitten by the San Miguel bug. If you haven't been, do yourself a favor - it's A-MAZING!!! Thank you both for the entertaining and informative videos. I mean, it's like you two truly stepped IN IT! What??? Shlomo was so sweet and helpful and informative and the fact that he is friendly with the other Vegan Restaurant owners (not competitive) just shows how cool he is and Queretaro is. I am a life-long vegetarian, and this video makes me want to go full-on vegan. Way to Go, Mexico! So progressive and cool.

    Thank you for highlighting Querétaro. I cannot wait to visit early next year. While you mentioned that you guys took the bus from Mexico City, do you know if we can take my small dog inside the bus? I will have her in an enclosed dog carrier (same one I use for the airlines). I can even purchase a designated seat for my lovey if needed. Any information will be highly appreciated. Keep great videos coming. We do plan on visiting Merida sometime in the very near future :)

    Love your video! Not sure if you'll see this, but I hope you do. My wife and I just visited Merida and were honestly disappointed by the architecture. It all just felt very boxy and dirtier than we expected. It sounds like Querétaro Is much more charming. Would you agree?... Maybe we missed the best neighborhoods. But we even visited "Las Americas" and again it just sort of missed on expectations. Maybe I'm expecting too much 😅

    Hi guys! Looks like you really enjoyed your trip and stay? I was looking at some of the comments on the Airbnb and was wondering if you found some of the same extensive list of cons? Exp: March 2019 and a separate contract you had to sign? Or maybe some of these things have been addressed? It would be nice to find a place recommended by others before hand 😊
    Thanks again for a wonderful vlog!

    • @TravelWTravis
      @TravelWTravis  Před 2 lety

      Yeah, we saw the "contract" when we arrived and really it was just an agreement not to make noise past a certain time, don't trash the place, etc. For the price and location, we're really happy with it. The furnishings are pretty simple and a little worn, but as we tend to be out exploring most of the time, it had everything we needed!

    The first (and only) time I visited QRO was in 2017, about 8 or 9 days after the big quake in CDMX (which I avoided by leaving for SMA 26 hours before.) My first night was the one of the Tromba (mini-cyclone) which started while I was having dinner on Plaza de la Corregidora. The rain falls were epic as I watched them from my rented condo on Alto del Marques. Major flooding and a "socavon" (giant pothole swallowing half a bus). Regardless, QRO left a positive impression: Beautiful centro historico, solid industrial base, some hoods that are reminiscent of Roma Norte and La Condesa. Of note: not the most affordable place where to live in Mexico nowadays.
