This was probably the most time I've spent on a video to date. The script through several redrafts and reworkings. An entire intro was scrapped. It was a long and arduous process, but I think the final product is the best work I've made to date.

Personally dislike the ubersaw mainly for how much it's NEEDED to be a effecient medic imo next to the crossbow.
Hey, sometimes I don't look for the fight! I just accidentally killed that disguised Spy in Upward. He looked hurt... Both before and after I shot him. Though if I get stuck between my team and the other one after surfing a Direct Hit to the face (and that happened to me once,) then what can I do? Kill-bind? It would have taken less time, but it wasn't as educational, even though we lost that round; I surfed Minigun Bullets a bit after that Surf, and got away.

I get what your saying, but tbh it’s not exactly” needed”, because it primarily relies on a opposing team to goof up, which tbf happened fairly often in casual, but I do think the solemn vow is better in the cases where u are up against a competent opponent

I love maining Medic in TF2. Aside from his personality being incredibly fun, his gameplay is top tier. The game DOES revolve around you, and you feel it. The other team wants you dead, and your team wants you alive. I feel like despite what you say, TF2 players are probably the most forgiving and thankful for their Medics, and I couldn't be happier.
Yeah why was he going on about medics being underappreciated? The entire game revolves around the safety or death of this one class, and everyone knows it

I’m trying to herd a gaggle of bloodthirsty lunatics and making sure none of them die, I’m sorry I’m prioritizing healing the team as a whole IN A TEAM BASED GAME over healing exclusively your selfish ass. Most of the time people appreciate it, but the people who complain they aren’t getting pocketed constantly really grinds my gears.
@@jakestaheli8532 It's probably due to how often people can grow a reliance on medic characters without realizing it, then being unhappy when they're no longer healing them.
I remember specifically one time i was playing as medic in tf2 and someone got mad that my healing beam got cut when i was at 100% uber, getting them killed. This wasn't my fault, as i didn't expect them to push when they did and there ended up being a wall between us, cutting the beam due to range limits.
They were mad that i was no longer healing them, despite that not even being my fault, but a lack of communication on their part. They relied on me without letting me know when they were gonna push.

As an avid kh and tf2 fan who usually plays healers in games (even bard/clerics in dnd) I feel like this video was made for me. Like the medic says, the healing isn't as awarding as the hurting. And this true because in video games you do earn rewards/points for killing enemies and are more likely to be praised for it too. So if you can, please thank your healer they appreciate it way more than you'd think.
I like the score thingy in TF2. Idk if others game have this too. I always amazed by medic who top scored and yesterday when I play as medic I managed to be MVP & top score too. I feel appreciated by the game.

This video hits hard for me. I was a medic in the army, i main medic in tf2, and i assist a lot of people at my workplace, and now they all keep asking about me (i quit and moved country). Amazing video mate.

@@LucidMakesVideos No joke, once I was posted to my location as the medic, I thought "wellp, if a war does break out, Imma be the first one to be targeted." Kinda funny thought in hindsight, but also a bit sad at the same time.
Also about my experience as a medic IRL - I kinda went down ludwig's path - slowly losing patience with my patients because they kept coming to me for dumb reasons... eventually I started to get a kick out of turturing the ones with the most mundane issues like tiny scrapes and such, whilst sticking to protocols so I don't get into trouble. I really have turned into the real life TF2 medic in hindsight.

Somehow, whenever a medic chooses me in tf2, it's like i spontaneously gain significantly higher skill or something. I suddenly start landing my flare crits, nailing point-blank reflects, I become a monster tearing through the enemy team with little effort. A good medic can make all the difference.
Healing turns you into a demon. Make sense.
Of course. Medic's 24 HP/sec healing can make a big difference, giving you that much more room for error; that much greater ability to take risks

Something that always amazes me, is that so many people don't play medic because they "wont have impact in the game" while they at the same time always focus the enemy medic because hes the most vluable.

I can tell you that your gratitude is definitely noticed and appreciated! It's sad that F2Ps can't even use voice commands. I think I speak for a lot of medic mains when I say that we understand what the nod means!
I love it when a free to play just nods at me for healing them that makes me want to give them a head pat and almost kills me.
Medic from TF2 also brings up another good view on the whole "Medic" class
The reason they do what they do isn't because they want to keep the team alive, they just want the other team dead. Medic chose to be a healer as he's not really suited to kill like others can, but he can enable and even ENCOURAGE those who can do the killing for him. "The healing is not as rewarding as the hurting" and "I healed the man who will kill you" shows how much Ludwig is in the 'I choose who lives and who dies' mindset.

As a medic main, the crazy expectations that people have of you sometimes get to your psyche. It makes you feel like you are helping children with guns, battle through the front lines. And that feeling can't be found in any other way than being a real doctor in a pandemic or war. It turns tf2 from a fun game, to a different world view. To see all your teammates which are real people, desperate for your help and you are overwhelmed, is something both flattering and exhausting.

I play Support heroes in Overwatch, and frequently play Medic in TF2 and you cannot BELIEVE how happy I feel when someone thanks me for my efforts. I make sure to always thank people who heal me so they know their work isn’t unappreciated.
Loved it! The beginning and ending segments were brilliant, and, as for the segments on each character, while I haven’t played Kingdom Hearts or FF, served well to convey your point (and were also super entertaining and well put-together). In particular, I liked the short Chansey-Gengar visual bit, and, of course, the closing bit (“please let me get one more”)- particularly as the “let me” could allude to God- like the irl ww2 guy- or the medic’s pocket who they are so reliant on

The Medic is one of my absolute favorite classes to play in TF2, and its made me always say thanks to other Medics when they heal me even a little bit when I'm not playing Medic myself, and has put me in the habit of dropping whatever I'm doing to defend them if they start getting focused if I can keep them up and healing.
Same, as a tank player when ever I see the healer getting attacked, my immediate reaction is to go after the attacker while also being a wall for my healer so they can recover, with my response being " oh shit! There going after the healer! Time to go stop that in its tracks. I'm coming buddy!" And when I succeed being "ha! That'll teach you to go after the healer while I'm around."
One good example of when a game takes your medic away and you really feel it is in Tales of Vesperia. Estelle is your mainstay healer, and is capable of bringing the entire team back from the brink by herself, aided by the fact that in vanilla she was the tankiest party member, only beaten out by Flynn in Definitive Edition, but he's not around long enough to really replace her as the healer. And then Estelle gets kidnapped, Flynn is off doing his own thing, and suddenly your healing ability is down to Karol's lackluster Nice Aid Smash and Nice Recovery Smash and Yuri's only marginally better Guardian Field, if you've even got that. With Estelle gone, you NEED to be way more cautious in battle.

@@kaderobertson2489 So one of three things happen with supports: They harden the hearts due to scapegoating and gain a messiah complex, go insane and revel in the challenge given by more damage = more fun or rarely keep the good nature with a sheen of acceptance on their role. FFXIV dungeon tanks made myself walk down the first path; in other games, I walk the third path.

im in heavy mental problems since like 9 years already and the more i withered the more i began to appreciate and understand medic type characters and people. i appreciated them before but only rly on a level of "thanks for taking the time to play a class nobody wants to be/play" and well i like to play support and tank classes myself since ages i also help people in real life because of all the experience i have rly allows me to get a bigger picture of a persons problems and the pure parts of me left that are still mostly untouched. im also a lonewulff what made me relie on myself instead of others in specific areas. all this stuff not on a expert level of course and my empathy skills whithered away too partly but yeah unless i rly carry their backpart out of something i never rly get more than acknowledgement of the positive things i caused.

I suffered from a deep and heavy depression. I say depression but it was more of a situation of not feeling anything at all. At least with depression you still feel... something. It was almost 10 years. And I can tell you that you can work through it and make things better.
Just keep on moving forward. Don't let your pain, hatred, and suffering, destroy you as a person. It has me. And I struggle to work with it everyday.
But it still is worth it. It is worth the pain. It is worth making it so others can feel that they aren't small nor weak.

my guess would be for you to collect some great stuff from the things you do everyday, and then just do all of them at a moment that feels right. hype all this and just try to be almost over the top while not forcing yourself to be it and look if this produces some sparks. if it deos then you probably know how to one day use these to make a small flame you can use to light a campfire one day if ever wood starts appearing in your head.
edit: oh and put reasonable delays between you doing this again or its a bit pointless.

one of the reasons i play the support in many games is the fact that no team can function without one, i remember playing and realizing that if i wanted to have a spot in a group to do dungeons and instances the fastest and easiest way was to be the healer, games have long since try everything to make medics be self sufficient or enticing to players since rarely someone wanna play them

Medic main with only half a brain here. Blutsauger keeps me alive more than my team.
Medics really are unrewarded; I've tried playing as a pacifistic medic in Pixel Gun 3D; I kept having matches end without gaining any points. There are no weapons and only a couple gadgets that heal rather than deal damage.
Funny thing is that killing medics in real life is almost always seen as dishonorable and in video games it's all everyone does. Of course, IRL you can just capture someone or knock them out, as opposed to video games that, more often than not, make you kill your enemies or die. Except for the occasional peaceful servers in online games like TF2.

Shout out to the Scientists Zombie from Garden Warfare for having a powerhouse of a weapon, easy escape options, and one of the best healing options with the Healing Station

Heal bomb, Heal Station, Optional Heal Beam, SHOTGUN that TWO-SHOTS EVERYONE.
and Sunflower, with da Heal Beam, Heal Flower, determination to scream "MEDIC!" while running toward her fallen allies to revive them, and with the SUN LAZER OF DOOM to help Zombies with their skin-care. and also her primary weapon that is both better than Foot Soldier's in nearly every way, and is criminally underrated.
In Wesnoth - a turn based strategy - Elves got Shamans as medics... who are ironically often *killed last* if the group falls, because instead of noticeably damaging attacks their ranged weapon inflicts a debuff halving enemy damage, and their healing is far slower than damage dealt but affects all units in area.
Usually it's better to target whatever other elf is out of formation, since they are also fragile but trade off with high damage output.
And this is why I play Medic.
Cause sometimes, I just want to make sure someone else has a chance to shine.
One reason I always try to pick the healer in games as a first reaction is because i want to make others reach things i can’t reach.

I grew up without internet because I live in the middle of a desert, and every game I played I always dreamed of playing with people some day, and that always made me want to play support and medic, I finally got real internet earlier this year and played online games for the first time.
I still haven't played support or medic
Everyone here is talking about being a Medic/Support in multiplayer games, but I want to give a game that helped me learn to live being a Medic: Dungeons and Dragons.
D&D is such a great way to play Support characters becuase there are so many way that you still feel important and involved in the game despite your role for a few reasons. One of the biggest ones is your narrative importance. Combat is a big part of D&D, but roleplay and the narrative are still just as big. A good DM will give every player some kind of time so shine, so everyone is equally important to story. Not to mention your narrative importance can lead to giving you different roles besides shoving hit points up someone's ass. You could end up being the team leader, or a moral glue that keeps them together. You aren't defined BY your healing, unles you want it to be.
One other reason is creative freedom with abilites. One of the most fun thing to do in D&D is to go off the script a bit and do some wild stuff with the abilites you have. Being support based gives you ample spells that are just ripe for shenanigans. For example, I was playing a Druid and my party was trying to get a sneak attack on a young dragon. So I cast Redcue on a statue that the dragon was near. Our paladin picked up the mini statue and HUCKED it at the dragon, and I dropped concentration so that the statue turned back to a large size and SMASHED it in the face! There's all kinds of crazy shit you can do like this in D&D (provided you have the right group.)
And finally, all these add up to a game that the group with remember as a collective. It's almost never "The time I did something" (althought that does happen), but it's mostly "the time WE did something." The best moments are ones when everyone comes together to make something amazing happen, and a support character can make so many more moments happen that we'll remember forever.
Shout out to medics that only recreate meet the medic with a heavy with only two kills, gotta be one of my favorite genders.

It really depends on the game and the community mindset. In overwatch and such it's thankless whereas in TF2, i observed that we tend to straight up WORSHIP the medic as whoever decided to pick the class can lead the entire team to victory / is the most powerful class in the game, when no one wants to pick medic most of the time. I observed that we tend to thank the medic in chat or at the end of the game more than any other class really.
As sumone who plays both healers and tanks, i can wholeheartedly agree with this video.
Because when you play as the healer, you feel the large amount of pressure of being one of the only ways your team can consistently and quickly heal at any given moment, and the fact that you know that the enemy is is going to go after you first and if you get separated from your team, you are going to die. So you need to be constantly vigilant of not only were your teammates are and if they need healing, but also were the enemy is to avoid getting killed.
And as a tank player, i can't tell you how many times i got my ass saved in an intense fight because the medic was alive and nearby, and i immediately noticed how much trouble I'm having staying alive in a fight when said medic is down, so more often than not when i see the enemy going after the team healer, i stop whatever it was i was doing and go protect them, because i know if they go down we'll be at a major disadvantage, so i always prioritize keeping the healer safe with my larger amount of health and higher firepower, because if they go down... the whole team goes down with them.
So to all the players who mean healers, know that you are valued and appreciated, and too the players like me who know and understand your important, we will stop at nothing too keep you safe.
Infact when I used to play overwatch, every time I saw a healer in the voting for mvp because they were doing an amazing job at keeping everyone alive, I always voted for them so they knew that there efforts were noticed and appreciated

As a Medic (and Engineer) main, everyone but the enemy team forgets you are there, until they need to be healed with a medigun or dispenser. And the enemy understimate you, until they have to deal with an ubercharge. A good team, will make Medic be the great, and a bad team..... Just pocket the phlog pyro lol

A lot of people seem to not appreciate medics, to me, imho. Is because they see it as standing around doing nothing while pressing the heal button whenever the characters beating the crap out of the enemy needs it. In reality though, healers also have damage capabilities, medics aren't there to heal, medics are there to reduce as much damage as possible, meaning, they want to kill the enemy like the DPS and tank because it'll reduce the damage. Heck, the best advice to when to heal tends to be if the other guy is at 1HP or almost reaching it.
11:41 yet despite that he has very strong passive healing. Making him recover from occassional hits and usually take focused fire to actually take down, especially when he is with a team(or a headshot).

i think a problem whit medic and support classes in general is what the class is can varry alot. i some cames, healers are just nessesary to progress at all and are more of a skillcheck. in some games medics are just a way to get back to healthy if you somehow didint die after dueling a other player. in some games medics are needed to have a powerfull team and in some more games medics are just luxury because you will have access to other healing sources. but no matter what you are as a medic, people just see the support they receive as a service they have the right to receive. at the beginning some people maybe appreciate their medic when they struggle to stay allive but after that your just a tool in the powerclasses hands for them.
edit: and yeah because they just see you as a tool, they dont rly acknowledge sometimes that you have priorities and how much you have to deal whit. to the point that some firous scout that comes back whit 38 hp every 7 seconds votekicks you after not getting heals whitin 3 seconds multiple times

One game that I think did Healers pretty well is Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Not only are healers responsible for keeping the party healthy, but they're the only characters capable of reviving team mates who have zero HP. Not to mention, they're also the most broken class because one of the varients has the ability to stack every single buff in the game, except for 2, onto everyone in the party.

Something i love about TF2 is that the Medic gets points for healing people. So a good medic winds up high on the scoreboard
Playing and being a medic is a lonely unappreciated journey at times. Not a lot of people see the effort one is putting out to ensure the person's health, both physically and mentally optimal.
I do get tired every now and then of being the healer, but I can't stop thinking about helping others when it's needed.

Nothing better than bolstering your squad to keep the fighting edge, getting them up and back in the action. Whatever it takes to get everyone to the end, I’ll do it even when I don’t get to make it out myself. In every game I am always drawn to the class that is catered to group support and healing. Darktide, Deep Rock, any BR game, every zombie game. Even if there’s no classes I’ll carry mostly heals or choose skills/perks that will increase the chances of survival for my teammates. I think it’s because I want to win more than I want to out perform my team, I’d rather hold them up for the win than lose competing with them.
i was a med main in tf2 since i was getting around 15-20 fps on average and aiming was hard. I could treat it as a strategy game and i got fairly decent at it. Sure medic gets a lot of crap but also in my experience a decent amount of thanks. Also little else mimics the feeling of giving a f2p fresh install pyro their first kill streak and atleast you can predict that once ubered they will walk in a straight line towards the sentry instead of rocket jumping away, dying and raging like a more optimal soldier pick.

Another thing people don't realize about Donald (and most healers in KH) is that their healing has a range limit. I've seen Donald try to run up to players to heal them because they're out of his range only to die and then the players blame him for not healing them in time. Anyone who's played a healer in a MMO knows how fustrating that is.
During my run of KH2 I never labled Donald as "the healer". Sure, he can heal, but I always treated him as an offensive wizard that has a healing option. And with that mindset, I focused on keeping him alive so he could use his offensive spells as much as possible. And that meant staying close to him and protecting him so that the Heartless don't 2 shot him. This has led to me never having a problem getting heals when needed since Donald always returns the favor if you protect him.

in any game i can i become the medic. 10 years of playing tf2 medic. teaches you 1 thiung. you may not get the medals the praise or the eyes but you are the one that got this team to the finish line.

When I come accross a medic in videogame I always make sure to thanks them, weather it be by using a voice line, protecting them, etc... Medic are really usefull and I always found myself constantly at low health when their not around.

Reminds me of a few days ago where we were getting stomped, and the enemy were making their final charge as our defenses were failing as the timer was nearing 0. Everyone was dead, about to be dead, or running. I ran in, halted the car, somehow killed two of their medics, one who had an uber ready (and didn't pop it presumably because who pops an uber on a medic?) a pyro, and a heavy who had failed to notice the medic flanking him.
I halted the charge almost if not singlehandidly, and who got the credit? The soldier and the heavy, who showed up afterwards to clean up the stragglers who were already backing off and unsure what to do. Not the medic who made one last play as his team fell.
Then people wonder why no one plays medic.

I’m a support main in pretty much e wry game I play and I’ve spent more hours playing medic in tf2 than I’ve spent in some of my other favorite games. The quick fix is my favorite medigun for its mobility and cause I love the challenge of keeping multiple allies just barely alive in the middle of the chaos.
This reminds me of when me and my friends were playing kingdom hearts (3 i think) and we heard medic’s voice acting and i got so excited and started freaking out
As a support main 8/10 if you ever feel like giving up on playing medic have this saying in the back of your head, "if not me then who?"
Actually did you know doctors actually have a much higher rate of psycopothy and other things that would limit their care for others, the upside though is they won’t get panicky when things get rough.
Hot take: powerful healers usually make the games they are in actively worse. They spend a large chunk of thier resources or at least thier class power budget on abilities that do almost nothing if their teammates are doing well, but are difficulty-warping if their teammates are idiots. They specialize in turning off interesting enemy mechanics like status effects and damage over time, which again is either vital but boring, or not even applicable depending on the scenario and team skill. Often healing becomes so powerful that enemy damage needs to skyrocket into nonsensical levels to preserve any challenge. Healing is the removal of consequences, and it requires it's own consequences and trade-offs to be interesting.
Medics are severely underrated.
Yet my favorite healer will always be the druid from world of warcraft before a particular expansion.
The druid is always a reliable healer no matter their role. If you have a Druid who is very OCD about buffs, you will forever be banished from death.
