Science and technology continue to change our lives. University of California scientists are tackling the important questions like climate change, evolution, oceanography, neuroscience and the potential of stem cells.
UCTV is the broadcast and online media platform of the University of California, featuring programming from its ten campuses, three national labs and affiliated research institutions. UCTV explores a broad spectrum of subjects for a general audience, including science, health and medicine, public affairs, humanities, arts and music, business, education, and agriculture. Launched in January 2000, UCTV embraces the core missions of the University of California -- teaching, research, and public service - by providing quality, in-depth television far beyond the campus borders to inquisitive viewers around the world.

So much better than a TED talk. What I’d give to work with/learn from 1:1 any of these experts
Would be cool to check if the neurons could connect in a way that maximizes Phi from the Integrated Information Theory.
I like Weiwei's comment that technology is not inherently "good or evil" (i.e. we both create and define these concepts). However, can we really rely on humanity (or natural selection) to promote the former?
Awesome question 😊.
Would really appreciate a short video of the most important points, however, thank you for uploading these great videos.

Do brain organoids from stem cells exhibit any functional awarenesses of human ethics or morals-what humans consider right behavior compared to wrong behavior, that are comparable to say..... Human infants and toddlers? In other words, do they display any recognizable "thinking" or "conceptual" actions?
Or are the organoids just displaying "mechanical" behaviors that come from the arrangement of human origin bio-organic material, but without any sort of "self-consciousness"? or "conscious awareness" of the surrounding environment?

Voice to skull, AI, brain computer interface. Time traveling is in the near future . David hughes will be the first human on planet earth to time travel.
But is it wise? ...
Whats the intent and end game outcome?...
Time traveling is in dreaming and remembering what you dream, creating the future starts with thought, you paint the future or someone paints it for you, right now the government is painting a war
Practical time travel is not in the near future. When you time travel, you can't just target time, you have to target location as well. Imagine, in the time you've read this far, how far you've physically traveled compared to the 'center of the universe'. A universe that's constantly expanding at that. You're on a planet, spinning completely around in 24 hours, racing around a star. That star is moving in a galaxy, which itself is moving. Moving in a universe constantly stretching. So you have to target the time you want to go to and target where the point is you want to be. Mistarget either, and you materialize who knows where. In space, in the sky, underground, above or under the surface of another celestial body, who knows?
