Which, by the way, had a higher capacity of common sense than that simulated car crash.
Same, me and my friends once convinced my science teacher to play it on the projector cause we were calculating the impact force of a car crash. Half the kids had never seen it and absolutely wet themselves.

that commercial just makes me laugh, it's so outrageously over the top, it completely misses its mark this way. The shot of the driver tumbling, the car flipping like 4000 times, the hand of the boy at the end, it feels like a skit from like Peep Show.
Russell’s _scream_ had more common sense in it.

Fun fact! That advert (slightly edited) would play before every movie in the Gate Cinema here in Ireland, it made horror movies quite the relaxing cool down.

The Redbull case: It was actually about the fact that it has less caffeine than a coffee so it's not really an "energy" drink that's the part that won 13 million, the wings section was just a joke included in lawsuit... When corporations in America lose they trivialize it so it looks like they are the victim. Like McDonald's coffee...

The red bull case wasn't about it literally giving you wings. It was about it not being anywhere near as effective than a cup of tea or coffee or something like that.
It's basically the 'McDonald's hot coffee' thing where they do a whole bunch of PR to make you think the case was frivolous, they are the victims in this situation and you should hate the person who won without looking at why they won.
The fact that Russ has featured the bit in multiple videos, shows how well the technique works.
What actually happened?
I watched a doco about the woman who got burned. Very interesting story and like you said the PR went into overtime against her. The way she was treated was appalling. Her burns were absolutely HORRIFIC, down to the bone in some areas and given where they were in her "lap" she must have spent months, if not years, in agony. Then, to be mocked constantly by people who hadn't even bothered to do the most basic research, just added insult to injury. McDs had been ignoring complaints that their coffee was too hot for years, multiple people had already been burned and it was the actual judge in the case that awarded that sum. I think it was meant to be symbolic, something like 1 day's or 1 week's coffee sales from all McDs. The woman and her legal team had asked for nothing like it. From memory they had only asked for enough to cover her hospital costs.
Few, I thought you were about to call the McDonald's coffee case frivolous, but you're one of the ones who saw beyond the headline. I'm glad people are starting to realise, or have been realising, to sound more optomistic.

You may remember years ago, an ad for 'Pepsi' was -- "come alive with the Pepsi feeling." Apparently when it was marketed in China it translated as "drinking Pepsi brings your ancestors back from the dead."

Oh there's way worse ones as an Irish person the worst I've seen is called RSA anatomy of a split second I saw it tons as a kid I have the entire thing memorized and I cried every time I saw it

Was crying and shaking with laughter over the car advert, while I'm supposed to be studying, and a girl next to me got quite concerned because she thought I was having a breakdown.
Australia has been making road safety ads much more graphic than that for over 30 years.
Honestly, the Think car adverts still scare the shit outta me now.

The tampon rollerblading adverts joke was in a Family Guy episode I watched yesterday. I don't know who stole it from who or if it's a weird coincidence, just saying
wouldn't surprise me if an american show stole an idea. they will get away with it because you wont think family guy will watch Russel howard. You know when TGF got the microwave stuck on their head. like 2 years later I saw an american show called 911 (was awful) literally steal that whole story and concept and the whole episode was about someone who got a microwave stuck on their head lol

@@kylestubbs8867 no clue but there have been multiple ads created like that as scare tactics. I know another one was a similar ad where the driver looks at some woman as he's going around a corner & hits a mother & child.
IF I were to take a guess, I believe this one could have been shown after 9pm because (if I remember correctly) it was shown in cinemas as well as on TV.
They have pushed the limit on being a bit too much for people.
