Colin, if my history teachers back in school had had just a 1/10th of your ability to tell a story and make it as interesting, as you do then I might actually have learned something in those classes. As of now, I just have to pick it up from other sources like to just mention one other source: The history guy, history needs to be remembered. You are doing a great job telling us ignorants what has happened before all the high school soaps on the TV.
Even though you two have gone ashore now, you're still one of my favorite Friday pastimes. Keep up the good work!
Oh Colin !you make our day , my wife and I absolutely love all of the history you share with us all wherever you are , we are in our late 60s and luv you both and look forward to every vlog . Have a fantastic week .luv and blessings from Australia đđđ
What a sad story đą. Poor Janet.
Shaun's tombstone will read: "Here Lies Shaun....You Can't Say That!"
đ€Łđđ€Łđđ€Ł
I just want to say how jealous I am of the love the two of you share. It makes me jealous and happy at the same time to know the two people can be so in love and share such a wonderful life together. Together the two of you overcome all the issues of living in today's world and as a team you face the future. That is not always a beautiful thing but a very rare thing in these days. Although I miss the time you spent on your boat I cherish any and all of your videos and will follow you anywhere in the world. Your humor, love and satirical approach to life it is just my cup of tea and brings joy to mine. I've been to England once back in the '80s I loved every second of it. I'm from the United States in Florida but plan to come over and do an extended stay and rent a narrow boat for a few weeks and travel the country. I hope I have the pleasure someday of meeting both of you.
Thanks guys, I always love these history lessons! This one seems especially apropos over here across the Pond in the USA . We are seeing the rise of so much misinformation and hatred that I wonder when they will start burning people again? As a Gay married couple like you two, I am especially concerned with the rise of the extremely intolerant religious Right (an oxymoron for sure!). Remembering the excesses of the past as you did in today's vlog is a helpful antidote to all this horrific nonsense and disinformation. Thanks for digging up these facts from history and presenting them with humor, and at the same time with an eye to the serious lesson that we all need to heed today.
@@djhrecordhound4391 Agreed! Well said.
You guys are absolutely smashing it. I know it sounds a bit sad but I've been struggling a bit with my mental health recently and your videos really give me a boost.
Shawnâs reaction to Elizabeth Dick is proof that aging is mandatory but growing up is purely optional.
Great episode as alway. Cheers!
Great story on the witches and Dornoch. So glad the Scottish Parliament/church apologised etc etc. look forward to more. đđđââïžđââïž
How do you do it?. I've been lost since I lost my soul mate to cancer and not only lost
my partner but lost everything. Least you have each other. Collin is so lucky. I'm 61 and don't have your luck...but keep going. Like I said you are both inspired. You help me and therefore others. Xx
I swear you two could describe paint drying and make it interesting!
Thanks for another good one! x
Your take on the history is so interesting. Iâm always waiting in anticipation for your Friday vlog.
As a hedge witch it always gives me the shivers hearing about the trials. But great video guys really love your sense of humour. đâ€ïžđ
Wow, just realised that the weekend officially begins with your vlog for me. Such horrid part of history (some may consider insignificant probably) and yet I think itâs important to know about, thank you for the amazing research, it is much appreciated as always:)
Love all the bits of history you guys share, even the sad parts. All the best, Gloria
Elizabeth Dick, Maggie Mungo, Janet Horn...I know these names aren't necessarily intended to be funny, but the way Colin delivers them (and Shaun's accompanying reaction) just kills me every time. Thank you for the inadvertent laughs!
More tidbits of local lore, and lovely views of a lovely Scottish area (town/village/city?). Just the thing to start my Friday. ATB
rough week, got my weekly "you can't say that!!" so all better lol
Thanks guys! The sad history of witchcraft was here in the states too.
Oh the things I will see and the knowledge I will gain once I travel to your beautiful UK! I am so glad that you've moved off the Cut and expanded your lovely Channel. :)
You both are definitely my favourite u-tube couple. Keep up the good vlogs. Thank you!
You guys really do a great job telling a story, thank you, very entertaining!
Accused: "They dressed me up like this!" Accuser: "Well we did do the nose. ⊠And the hat. But she's a witch!!"
I'm amazed you got through it with Sean's giggles, fascinating again
Thank you for all the research you do for these videos. You guys are wonderful.
đđđ So very interesting and sad really how women got burnt, her last words were heartbreaking⊠beautiful place though, the architecture is amazing.
Love the outtakes. Have a super lovely weekend boys! Hug Ottis please. đđđ
Interesting info about witches . About 400 people were executed for witchcraft, here in Sweden. The last one, in 1704. Thank you for telling history, in a interesting mode.
Thanks for a most informative vlog today. Always look forward to getting my âScotland fixâ on Friday. Have a great weekend â€đŽó §ó ąó łó Łó Žó ż
Thank you for another fun vlog guys, I loved it. Thank you Colin for another history lesson, it was fascinating. I was only aware of the witch hunts here in America and it never dawned on me that it also happened in Europe. Have a blessed day gentleman
Thank you for another interesting bit of history. I love that watching the two of you has become a part of my Saturday morning routine. I loved watching you on Silver Fox and now on your plot of land. Hope you have a great week.
Thanks for the vlog. Put smile on my face.
Thanks. I love the pleasure you're getting from your new home, regardless of the topic.
Colin and Seanâs â a history of Britain!â Love it. You two always make me laugh . X
There may not be burnings, but it's certainly a sad reflection on humanity that the attitude towards 'others' hasn't changed much.
Anyway, if you like the Dornoch airfield, you should take a flight up to some of the outer Orkney islands. This is going back 40 odd years but I think it was North Ronsldsay where they cleared away the cows just before the plane comes into land. As it's rolling along the field, the plane's wheels go through the cow pats, which get thrown up into the propellers and splattered across the side of the plane! For a 6 year old, that was definitely one of the highlights of our holiday!
Hi guys really enjoying your Scottish stories. We are looking forward to a trip up to Inverness in a couple of weeks, I found myself checking out what people were wearing in the background to inform our packing!!!!
Canât wait to hear about the Dornoch âtraaaaainâ!
You are the masters of video story telling! Every detail is spot on. I know you do not need any more put on you. But how about, Silver Fox University of Cinematic Production? Great work!
It is a beautiful looking spot. Love watching Shaun wagging his âarmâ around emulating the notification bellâŠlol
A historical tale told with skill and humour.
Love this as a practicing â witch âor healer so many women were murdered and wrongly accused. Love the channel â€ïžđ»
Really getting into these vlogs about the area around you and your 'farming' exploits.
This made me cry - so sad how some treat others who are either different or with true gifts they donât understand. Nice to see you both!
Thanks again for all the research that goes in to making these vlogs interesting. There's a direct line of fear, anger and misogyny from witch trials to female emancipation to the suffragettes to every woman who still has to battle sexist attitudes to do what her brother can do without question. Sadly, the word 'witch' is still more insult than adjective. Also Dornoch is beautiful.
Love the historic snippets and the innuendo. So many people were killed because of religious fanaticism in the past. Glad they received a posthumous pardon even though that doesn't atone for such terrible deaths.
Nice part of the world, we were up there just after Madonna got wed. Locals didn't do to bad from renting rooms out to the world's press - apparently.
Loved the story! Thank you guys!â€ïž
fantastic.. the innuendoes just keep getting better.....
Another interesting bit of history shared by you two. Thank YOU! Oh dementia! My mum had a series of strokes which left her with a serious case of dementia. I was her care giver for the last years of her life. Dementia . . . every day was a new adventure in time travel! She never forgot who I was because I was there every day, but my siblings really stuggled with it. Every time they would take a turn to care for her each week so I could have some personal time, she would not recognize them. She would send my youngest brother outside to find himself because it was bedtime. He used to joke and say he was sure glad he never found the little scoundrel. I'm glad I wasn't raised in those days. Both Mum and I might have been burned as witches. Run Carrie run!!!
Brilliant video, thank you so much xx
Brilliant vlog as usual, very informative. Shaun laugh is sooo infectious, don't ever change guys.. just be you!! â€
Well done btw on your radio station and today's show Colin.
Very entertaining video blog lads, and full of double entendre as usual!!!đđ
That was nice. One thing, it's probably just me (But I loved it) being left handed and dyslexic, when I watched the Jeep reverse and the subsequent footage of the car travelling, it was still going backwards in my brain. Having a wonky brain is better than drugs ;))
Story telling really suits you both silver foxes tell all...thank you for a fab vlog...
Funny sad informative..Well done guys
Information is power, remembering it, too đđ
I had a couple of long weekends at Skibo Castle. One corporate event and one romantically that ended in disaster. Good to see you two again and again the history lessons are fascinating. You should visit Skibo Castle if you can.
Our family referred to fist sized stones as dornochs. We are in USA and they may have got it from my Uncle whose family came from Scotland. Now it makes sense........................I think.....
Interesting vlog Colin, well done.
Colin love this video. I am learning so much about Scotland from your videos. Thanks for them. I waiting in adisapation for next Friday's video.
Good morning from NZ. Colin you are pretty magic on history, absolutely. We look forward to your videos. Shawn, you are just as precious as Colin. We love your laughing and " you can't say that ". Love you both. Cheers and thank you. Hugs for Otis.đđđđ
Brilliant, thanks for the history lessonâ€ïž
that poor woman...what beautiful country ...brilliant video!
Another brilliant vlog, you should do this for a living! Oh by the way, here on the Wet coast near the Clyde there are still witches, not sure what they do though, maybe frolic through the woods baring skin to the midges? One told me her daughter used to threaten people at school, saying her Mum would turn them into frogs! Novel!
What a wonderfully interesting and entertaining video. You guy's are great. I look forward to your vlogs on Friday and they help make my day. Thanks so much for sharing your lives with us. Keep well and safe. James.
6.31 did anyone else see the hooded white figure walk past
A new word to turn Shaun red: "Dorning".
THANK YOU for sharing Janet's story. Another GREAT Vlog.
Always love the history & appreciate all the research you do, Colin! Sadly, there are many "sad chapters" in human history....Stay well guys! â€đâ€
Brilliant Colin and Shaun. I love the research that you put into your videos. Take care. Nick
I've really been enjoying the wide variety of subjects you've been covering, and this is no exception. Being a trainspotter, I'm looking forward to the Dornoch branch line video. TRAAAIN!
Kia ora from NZ. You had me cracking up đ€Łđ€Ł with the first (fist) part of the vlog. Love catching up your life in Scotland and getting the history of the places you visit.
Always enjoy the history lessons. Great stuff!
Loved the vlog.
Excellent video! I enjoy learning bits about history, the good and the bad. Cheers!
Hiya guys, my brother lives near Shelbo castle just on the north side of Dornoch and I spent many happy summers between Golspie and Dornoch in my youth. I now live on Vancouver Island in British Columbia and love the remoteness similar to being in the highlands.
Love the videos you're making, thanks
Also just wanted to add that you mentioned you're going to do a blog on the Dornoch light railway that ran from the Mound station to Dornoch terminus station. The last locomotive to run on the line which is still around today is called Dunrobin. As a promotional thing it was driven all the way to southern England and after a while at the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch railway it was sold to Canada and transported to British Columbia before eventually being bought by the Beamish museum where it is undergoing a full rebuild at this time.they are hoping to get it under steam in the next year or so. They also have one of the Duke of Sutherland own coaches which stayed with the Dunrobin locomotive all these years. Hope this helps đ
Another great video has always colin Shaun and little Otis đ
Another informative vid and Dornoch looks just as good now as in 1991 when I was last there with uncle Sam. I thoroughly enjoy watching you boys every saturday morning here in NZ. Keep it up and I hope your bees produce as much honey as ours.
I read this and thought of you: The Lake Isle of Innisfree
BY WILLIAM BUTLER YEATS
I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree,
And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made;
Nine bean-rows will I have there, a hive for the honey-bee,
And live alone in the bee-loud glade.
And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow,
Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings;
There midnightâs all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow,
And evening full of the linnetâs wings.
I will arise and go now, for always night and day
I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore;
While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements grey,
I hear it in the deep heartâs core.

Such a beautiful poem. Thank you for posting it.
Whenever I find a natural spot that brings me peace I think of that bee-loud glade...such a rich image.
