Oh dear, there are already so many comments! But I wanted to give your chickens some thought, and this is what I came up with. Name them after some of the memorable places from your narrowboat journey. I went back and reviewed things. It will be a nice connection to that special time. I'm including a few extra to choose from or for other critters. So here's what I got:
Peaky (Peak Forest)
Bingley (Five Rise)
Ribble (Link)
Bugsworth (Basin)
Marston (Doles)
Mersey (Canal)
Marple (Aqueduct)
Stanley (Ferry)
And for good measure:
Falkirk (Wheel), Albert (Dock), Lune (Aqueduct), Wigen (Locks), and Crick (Boat Show)
Foxes afloat is such an operatic adventure that the hens deserve diva names. So, Aida, Mimi, Carmen, Tosca, Brunnhilde, Norma, Leonora, and of course Salome. They are all sopranos, so when they hit a high note they will lay a big beautiful egg. In addition to the many eggs, you can sell tickets to their performances. Their coop should be named Covent Garden. There you have it!
oh this entry is my favourite!
Mimi is my daughters nick name đđ
You should name the hen house, "Foxes Aflutter."
Love it!
Ribble and Thames after youâre epic river crossings. Loved the guided tour around the chicken grounds. Shaun knows his stuff đ Em x.
You have to name one irony, you have the only henhouse I've heard of that welcomes Foxes inside it! ;)
Wonderful pun !!! Most excellent!
Jeanie. We used to keep chickens and my granny named them Jeanie. All of them! đ€·ââïžđ
Oh Shaun you've become so animated! You are obviously in your happy place. Lovely!
Thanks for a great update and you must realize that the girls have bonded with you so they're pecking at you to preen you and checking that you're healthy and bug free, particularly 'Henrietta' that had a go at Colin. Take care and all the best. Stevie
They look very happy with their new home.
I don't Have names buT I do know that when you fellows go in to collect eggs there will be foxes in the hen house! Very fun show.
The small egg layer...Cadbury đ(no, not really) Shaun, you look like you're eggstatic to have chickens. I couldn't help but smile while you were sharing everything, thanks for that.
Collin, my girlfriend has a Quaker Parrot. The bird screams her head off when she can't see her too. Sometimes I can pick the bird up and pet her. Mostly I'm a bird taxi and food dispenser that gets paid with bitesđ
Thanks for the homestead update. It's great seeing how people do up their patches of dirt.
Yay! Great to meet the girls. You've made a lovely home for them. Here are some family names Daisy, Mona, Florence, Edie, Jennie, Sandy, Doris, Sheila. That's a great nan, two nans, two great aunts, a mum, and two aunties. Daisy moved to Canada from Scotland. So glad you're sharing your lives with us. Thanks!
Hey look! Foxes in the hen house!
Eggatha Christie. I love that you're starting a farm. :)
Ok guys. Here is my request, all the way from Canada.
I grew up in Gawsworth, Cheshire (1950âs). My Mum raised chickens,to be able to sell the eggs, to supplement her very modest income. We had one chicken that thought she was a family member and felt quite at home coming into our house and eating out of our dogâs food bowls. Not sure why but my Mum decided to call her Gerty.
Would love to see one of your gals named âGertyâ!
While your content isnât on the canalâs, it hasnât changed its awesomeness đ
Lovely to see the hens settling in nicely. They seem very friendly, maybe being so young so that's nice.Hope the names are sensible, honestly these days some of the kids names make you cringe.I offered a few in your last video, just thought of another if you get cockrel... Taggart, after that super t.v. series.Take care you two and keep the fun coming along.đđđâ„ïžđđŽó §ó ąó łó Łó Žó żđŽó §ó ąó łó Łó Žó ż

Name your chickens for Scottish Queens and consorts! There's a long list online. Some really cool names. Like Etheledra, Annabella, Sybilla, Euphemia, Ermengarde, Maude, and Yolanda. Lots more!
Just a piece of advice from an old chicken keeper to you newbies, don't go in with your toes exposed, chickens love naked toes and it hurts alot. Enjoy
Last of the summer wine ladies, Nora, Ivy, Pearl, Marina, aunty wainwright, Edie, Glenda and Nellieđ€·ââïž
Chickens are special! Since they are red maybe call him be Ruby. Since Henrietta was a bit goofy. Lol yes m so glad you guys are letting us share your life. You both seem so much happier and relaxed ashore. Your chicken coop and yard are awesome! Well thought out and Iâm glad you included the swing. Itâs a really nice set up for the girls. I hope they appreciate it and lay lots of eggs. I love the old shows Good Life and Grace and Favour where they learn to raise their own food. Happy life guys!
It's not the size that matters, it's the chicken's healthy lifestyle that makes their eggs flavorfull and omega rich! Loved Y'alls chicken garden and coop. What could be finer than a Scottish homestead! My name for one of the hen's is Harriet. Cheers,
In Sweden, everyone who has a garden can have six hens. If you want more, a permit is needed. If you want a rooster, all neighbors must give permission. And it is of course, and understandably, impossible to get. Good luck, and handle the chickens as much as you can now, you will get it back later.đâ€
Thatâs really useful to know! Iâm currently trying to find a job in Sweden so I can emigrate here. On a 5 week visit to VĂ€sternorrland at present. LOVE it here. đâš
I think the problem is that roosters are just noisier than hens and tend to be early to riser in morning. I did a job years ago where I stayed in a bed and breakfast place that had hens and a rooster and personally thought it was a fantastic way to be woken in the morning.
Princess Leia(Layer) đ„°đ
Tahlullah, means laughter. which you guys have given us for many years.
Colin - you were in fine form today! Shaun - truly enjoyed your information about the hens and the coop. You've put a lot of thought into the "girls" new home, you've built them the queen of castles with their own play yard. Compliments to you both. I think you should use a Scottish name for at least one hen but since I don't live in Scotland, I don't know what would be a great name. Have fun choosing their names.
Names of Flowers - Myrtle, Daisy, Marigold, zinnia, Rose, Petunia, Magnolia, Lily, or anything else
Miss Telford, to honor the Canals đoxo
You pair sound wonderfully stress free. It is a joy to watch your vblog. Happy for you.
Thereâs a point around the 7 minute mark of Shaun sitting with the chickenâs, that you may want to consider printing the shot for framingâŠa man with his chickensâŠđ
Maybe some traditional Scottish names, Fiona, Isla, Morag, Sorcha, Aria, Freya, Ailsa, Maisie to name a few but there are lots more. They are pretty chooks, what breed are they? I wish we could have some but daughter is afraid theyâd be eaten and it would freak the kids out. We have a bear that wanders around out house after the garbage now. Itâs just woke up yesterday, I know this because it knocked over the green bin in the night, time to lock it so it canât get in. We have been asked to not feed the birds here because the the avian virus, weâve lost a bunch of the birds who live in our treesđą. Hope your girls will be safe, being so far out in the countryside should help protect them.
Collin, I have ADHD and I guess I give off an unusual energy and some animals are nervous of that, horses never liked me, they would immediately knock me off their back. Maybe your energy is different and thatâs why birds yell at you.đ„°đđŒââïž
Chicken names - thereâs a theme: đ Tikka, Fajita, Supreme, Korma, Noodle, Nugget, Fricase & Satay.
Harold the Hen. Was my grandfatherâs favourite pet in 1980s. Much love from Australia đŠđșđđŠđș
my god what a pair of lovable characters.you get worse, but keep it up makes the week better
So need to be one called Fran and one called Ritch lol another nice vlog đ
Chic1, Chic2, Chic3, Chic4, Chic5, Chic6, Chic7, Runt for the Chicken who laid the small egg. LOL

My hens lived in Cluckingham Palace! Some of the girl's names: Rue McClanahen, Liza on Broadway (named after Liza Minelli because she'd wait until all of the other hens left the Palace grounds to free range, then she'd bolt across the lawn singing at the top of her lungs) and LuSqueal Ball (a screamer) You can tell I live across the pond with these American actress names. Oh, in winter where my farm was, it was brutally cold and bitter and snowy so I had an inside coop in the big barn they wintered over in, aptly named Cluckatraz (after our famous prison Alcatraz) because they could not escape. Have fun with names! Much love to you.
Daisy, Elsie, those are my granddaughters' names and I think they would be cool hen names. Wanneice (pronounced Wan-niece like it looks), a name I'd never seen before I met my friend, who passed 3/26 from cancer. She loved animals so much that she was constantly rescuing them and last year, defied a policeman. who told her he would arrest her if she didnt leave school property, so she could rescue some stray cats that were living there. She had the momma spayed and found homes for the kittens she had. The rescue cat and her own cat, Bullet, (another good name) were re-homed to a wonderful couple after her passing.
One hen called Nessie? All in hopes she will lay "monstrous" eggs! Plus remembrances of your journeys afloat!
I ordered a chicken and an egg from Amazon; I'll let you know....
Me again ... " Blue Pearl", because its my boats name, and I named it that as a memory of my parents, their memorial stone is Blue Pearl Granite, which I have as my counter tops in my galley and bathroom. Lovely to see Shaun star of the show ... you gave a good talk while introducing your hens, let's see more of you.
Watching this episode (love all of them) reminds me of when I was 12 years old, and I got one hen as a pet that I called " Henrietta" , she would give me a nice fresh egg each and every day that I would have for breakfast before school.
Unfortunately Henrietta met with a sad ending one day while I was at school, I came home and Henrietta was laid on top of the fridge with her head hanging down,
My mum said that she got her head stuck in the fence and that she accidentally broke her neck trying to get her out,
I was 12 at the time and so believed her, years later I now know different.
But that's a whole story on its own.
So I would be honoured if you called one Henrietta, simple and short.
Phill
Margo and Barbara from "The Good Life"đ
Dusty, Cilla, Petula, Lulu, Judi, Helen, Dame Diana, Wee Lassie.
Hen names: Daisy, Petunia, Rosie, Lilac, Lily, Tulip, Hyacinth and Poppy. My grandmother had a large chicken yard when I was a child. I have many great memories of gathering eggs and feeding the hens when I was a youth. Hope you have a great time keeping the girls happy.
Shaun, you do seem to be very much enjoying being a dinosaur herder. My experience with chickens, we had a small flock that we free-ranged on the veg. farm I worked at. Every time we moved the pen to a new patch they would go after all the frogs in the grass. That's when I realised they were still mini-dinosaurs. Frog fed chickens make delicious eggs!
Sean you are a natural t.v. presenter, you make things clear and explain everything so well.
1,2,3,4,5,6,7and 8
Watched latest "Chickensareus". Great. Name search ideas, saw on egg carton:
Perch, Dust Bathe, Scratch, Socialize. Also Rock (dumb as). Also, Shaun's
sweet sensitivity showed with hens, He's one of my heroes. Ted
Shaun. You are so in your right place w your animal family. Totally the right move for you. I am so happy to see you so happy đđđ€names. Every chicken family needs a Martha, a Minnie, and an Ena.
Meant to be Ena as in Coro ladies.
Chocolate bar names for your chickens maybe, Mars, Bounty, Snicker, Caramac, Twirl, Picnic. Lucky to have you guys to look after them. đ€đ„đđ
What about âMaggie Hatcherâ đ đ„ đŹđ§
I can see the resemblance. Perfect for a grumpy, pecky hen.
Living the dream! Large eggs from the supermarket are painful for the hen to lay. Letting them loose in your garden will trash it! They have a lovely run. I name Ruby after my friend who died aged 98
Some Hen's names for consideration :
1) Dusty
2) Scratchy
3) Pecky
4) Ol' Redeye
5) Shelly
6) Swinger
7) Foxy Lady
8) Ruffled
By the way, you can recycle your used egg-shells ground up into the hen's food, to let them make new shells !
Love this series !
Keep safe.
Stu xx
Henrietta - Dixie chick - Yolko ono - Foxy chick đŁđ„đ€đ
I suggest name a chicken Kiwi as a remembrance of NZ as we have ANZAC day tomorrow our memorial to soldiers who fought in two world wars and many other conflicts with Britain. The Kiwi fun fact is it has an enormous egg for the size of its body and is critically endangered!
You beat me to it! đ„°
HENsel & Gretel, Jimi HENdrix, HENley on Thames, Yolko Ono & John HENnon, Hen Solo, Chick Jagger, Atila the Hen, Cluck Norris, Iâll get my coat shall I?
Keep up the fantastic work guys đ
Beatrice, Babs, Betty, Barbara, Bella, Bernidette, Bianca and Birdie would be awesome names. We have used several of these throughout the years. Enjoy those awesome eggs.
âKeeping up Appearancesâ with a few added: Hyacinth, Violet, Rose, Daisy, Iris, Jasmine, Hazel, Lily
Clugney and Layseyđđđ€Ș
Well, as David is out. Lol! How about naming them after the seven dwarfs & the eighth one can be Snowy. All the best David. đ„°
Names for the chickens: Adeline, Felicity, Osithe, Alexina, Benonia, Laureen, Seraphine, Victoria. One hobby of mine is genealogy in Eastern Canada. I got these names from records more than 150 yrs old.. Have fun guys ! Country life is the best life.
My wife and I usually watch your videos on our living room TV on Friday evening at around 6'ish MST. We are in Boise, Idaho. When we watched last evening and you suggested naming your chickens, my wife instantly started naming them, and here are some of the names we came up with. Brigette (Bardot), Raquel (Welch), Ursula (Andress), Claudia (Cardinale), Catherine (Deneuve), Tina (Louise), Ava (Gardner), Marilyn (Monroe), Rita (Hayworth), or any other of your favourites. :)
Hello fellow Boisean! Those 2 guys are quite entertaining, right?!
@@sandiekurczewski3182 I've been watching them since early 2020. Great entertainment!
@@KozlosLife Yep, sometime during that lockdown/pandemic time. Saved my sanity!
@@KozlosLife I had never heard of Narrow Boats before, so got quite an education on all the canals through England.Loved it!
Princess Lay-a, Amelia Egghart, Nessie
If you guys have a hen who is slightly dafter than the others consider Heihei (pronounced hay hay). This is Te Reo (Maori language) for chicken. In the movie Moana there was a brainless chicken called Heihei. All the best for your new adventures from New Zealand.
Lady Cluck after the fab Scottish chicken in the animated Robin Hood film. I still cry laughing if I watch her fighting the rhino soldiers!
Your ladies certainly have a lovely home even if they canât go into the garden yet.
Hi guys! đ I know I shouldn't of sounded off my names for the hens a couple wks ago, but I was so excited they were coming đ So here's my picks again, depending on how many hens you have lol...Henrietta McFluffin, Hillary Fluff, Thelma & Louise, Clara Cluck, (my new one) Margaret Hatcher đ , Clover and Clementine. Hope your all having a wonderful day, see you next time and take care to you all â€ïž
Two suggestions! Alice Cooper and Mrs. Moneyhenny
I like Clementine for chickens. She was the friendly one at my childhood best friend's ranch. She would follow you round and then sit in your lap if you settled somewhere. She was a Rhode Island Red which are supposed to be cross and difficult, but she wasn't.
Another great video. đ
Ideas for names: Aurora(northern lights), Isabella (after queens of Scotland), Flora (goddess of flowers), Ava(means bird), Bluebell (everlasting love), Ella(beautiful fairy), Ailsa(noble maiden), Bonie(beautiful). All Scottish names.
You two are always entertaining, I would watch you on a boat, I would watch you with a goat. I would watch you with a hen, or in a Glen. You get the point!
How about Maud and Gladys???đđx

We love your channel and your adventures! Enjoy the hens!
I used to hypnotise chicken! I'd take them out of their shed, coax them as I stroked holding their feet together, lay them on the ground on the joint of the paving slabs, with the joint line extending well into the distance and their beaks pointing up the line
line and then gently moving away. The chicken would then stay until I came and picked them up. I was about ten years old then so rather a long time ago. Thoroughly enjoyable. Thanks so much. Lots of love to two very special guys!!! Terry xxx
One needs to be Fran and one Debbie.
Lol...I had that thought also. I wonder what Fran and Deborah would think of that.
We have two hens at the moment ... Anne and Harriet.
However over the years we have had several hens and named them after Herbs...
Here are my suggestions.
Rosemary ( Rose or Mary)
Ginger ( as in Biscuits)
Fennel (Fenelope)
Marjoram (Marjory)
Anise (Anne)
Angelica (Angela)
Sage ( what Colin is)
Parsley ( as in saucy what Shaun is).
I like Anne, but maybe Annie for a hen, kinda oldish
Watching your vlog last night I had to smile at the hens enjoying Shaun's presence (and arms) in their coop and think that one of the lovely hens should be called Pecky Sue!! ;)
How about naming them after the canals/rivers/locks you went on with Silver Fox? Mersey, Ribble, Bingley, Miss Marple, Henley, Marlow, Braunston, Weaver đđđđđđđđ
My mother in law loved chickens and they helped her with her mental health issues. She got up religiously to look after them and give her purpose. Sadly we lost her two weeks ago after a long battle with cancer. We would appreciate if you would consider the name Christine for one of your chickens. Your CZcams channels helps people understand mental health. Keep it up. Thanks Lee
I think you should name them after great places you've visited while living on Silver Fox!! Trent, Mersey, Crick, Nessie, Thames, Marple, Bingley, Wigan.
What a great set up you've got for the girls. You really are thinking of their happiness and security. I think that's absolutely wonderful! My brother has a bunch of hens and they are very attached to him. Good luck, Shaun. How about some Scottish names for them, such as Fiona, Bonnie, Nessa, Cora, Edina, Lorna, Makenna, and Elspeth?
Name one Baird... like your content... It's Moist, tasty and dele... cant spell it i've had a few.
By the way I am so excited by the content path. Your Detour has led to an unexpected adventure. I'm so excited to continue to see where you land next! Keep things up guys and be safe.
by the way Baird is my clan name that I've always "fan fiction" I'm the lost chief of lol...
Oh No! We have Foxes in the hen house. Sorry lol.
It's wonderful to see Shaun so extra happy!!! Name suggestions......HENRIETTA, MAE WEST , BEULAH , BETTY . Maybe name two after your mums.
I had a pet chicken years ago and her name was Stubby Jane. People came from all over to see my sweet, loving girl! I'm sending in her name to you hoping she can still live on with your girls. I'm so thrilled with your new, exciting chapter in your lives! Sending you lots of love from Florida!
đđđ 1. Lizzie, because of the Queens jubilee.
2. Lacy, because they seem to like shoelaces.
3. Lulu. Famous Scottish singer
4. Skye, after one of the Scottish islands
5. Foxy lady, play on your last name
6. Emily, 7. Charlotte, 8. Anne, from the Brontë sisters.
Thatâs my little input my darlings give Otis a hug for me. đđđ
Lay-D Gaga!
Hens should have old lady names such as Mavis, Gertrude, Ethel, Betty, Florence, Mabel. Xx
Old lady names are the best for hens.
Need to include Maud!
COllin +SHawn = COSH. I'm so pleased you are having such a good time on your new adventure. LMAO at 8:11 Shawns zipper is down hahahahah
mmp3pets How many played the vid back to check?! l did and it wasn't, as far as l could see - and l did look! :)
It's so fun to hear Shaun talking more and explaining about his chickens. I think he really likes them. đ
Shaun, you really seem to know your way around a hen house. This new adventure is going to be so much fun, congratulations on your new lives in Scotland!
đ Lovely to meet the girls, we think Heather would be a good name, to match the hills around you. Take care. đđŸxxx
Thank you for your videos. It is nice to see you both so happy.
What about... Hennifer Aniston, Eggatha Christie, Cluck Norris, or Amelia Egghart? đ
confuse every one call one DUCK
Names for the lovely chucklies.
Ruby, Amber, Pearl, Beryl, Opal, Topaz and Jade because they are all gems. If Iâve forgotten one call it lettuce- another little gemđ
Most excellent .....funny cute
I think they should be named after some of the great ladies of music. Whitney Houston, Madonna, Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin, Dolly Parton, Diana Ross, Adele, and Olivia Newton-John. Maybe you have some different favorites but these are some of mine.
Most kids who grew up in the UK probably read the Ladybird book The Sly Fox And The Little Red Hen... As you guys are the Fox's (but not sly) you need a hen named Red!
