    I'm a new rider. 29 years old and bought a Rebel 1100 DCT as my first bike about six months ago. I'm about 2,000 miles in, and I absolutely love it. Just recently followed your instructional video on the bar riser installation which was a huge help. I really appreciate your videos and your attitude. You seem like a genuinely good dude. If you ever need a riding buddy in the Memphis area, let me know. Meanwhile keep the content coming. 🤙🤙

    I watched your other videos and really enjoyed it. The things you can do on this bike.
    I'm glad I chose this bike over so many others. One of the first thoughts when buying a bike as a first time rider was the iconic Harley or an Indian, Triumph, but I'm so glad I got the honda for so many reasons.
    Price point, looks, feel and weight, easy maintenance, and best transmission ever made. LOVE THE DCT!

    I'm blown away by how you handled the cruiser against the sports bikes on that track. I've been racing carbon framed bicycles for years and I finally decided in my advanced age of 65 to pick up the motorcycle endorsement and I started riding a Vespa GTS300 SuperTech--- but I have every intention to move up to a cruiser within a year or less. My son rides a Harley 48 1200 and he's been entertaining me by riding along as I creep up the learning curve of handling a bike 20 times as heavy and two times as fast as my lightweight carbon framed bike. I've been thinking of the 1100 DCT as my eventual cruiser and though I also saw your long term review of the Rebel with all it's stated flaws and potential issues I am still sold on that one, the 1100 DCT. Thank you. I also appreciate your enthusiasm in all of this. So you got a new follower in this Old Newbie. Cheers!

      Thank you Aeasus, the DCT is so convenient in traffic, it excels in any condition, it is faster in evasive maneuvers because the downshifting is instantaneous relative to pulling a clutch and changing gears with your foot, and so easy in steep inclines, piece of cake and no stress whatsoever!!

    Did I hear someone say trail breaking?
    Excellent content! Well done. I suspected you had some advanced riding experience after watching the riding section of your 6,500 mile update.
    I’ve been looking at cruisers with forward controls because of an injury that I’m still recovering from that has reduced my knee flexion significantly. I would likely need to install forward controls (De Pretto) if I go with the CMX 1100. I’m also looking at the X Diavel, and the Triumph Rocket 3 GT. I initially discounted the Rebel 1100 because of the hp specs, and the looks. Then I realized that the torque it’s making, and the weight, is comparable to my Yamaha FJ09, and the 0 to 60 time is pretty damn good. I also now find the DCT appealing - you have definitely opened up my perception to the benefits of it, especially with using the paddle shifters in manual mode.
    The looks have grown on me, and I love the murdered out black on black on black look. I think the new 1100T looks great. I’ve always liked the look of baggers, but never had considered one because of the lack of handling performance.
    You have some of the best content on CZcams with showing how spirited you can ride the CMX 1100 (and in general). I also found a video of a guy in France getting after it, but I couldn’t understand anything he was saying, lol. I found your channel from someone mentioning you in a thread on advrider.
    Too bad Honda couldn’t figure out how to engineer an even better lean angle. I guess that’s just the nature of a bike with such low seat height. It looked like you were hanging off the seat pretty well on the track, but it still sounded like you were scraping those poor pegs on just about every turn.
    Keep up the good work!

    • @ontherebel11
      @ontherebel11  Před rokem +5

      Thank you!!!
      I’m sorry to hear about your injury, I hope you make a full recovery brother, I’ve had a couple myself.
      What motivated me to make such a video is the questions that I had during the research phase that you are in, I stumbled upon the DCT while researching bikes and became intrigued by the technology so I spent countless hours trying to learn everything about it but no one had addressed/demonstrated what I really wanted to know, is the bike fun in the twisties? Even though I want to tour, I also want to have a little fun, but when I’m done with the fun I want to go back to being comfortable hahahaha. (getting old)
      After hundreds of hours of research and reflection, I made the decision to try DCT, I made a deal with myself that if I don’t like it, I will trade it in for something else, a loss I was willing to accept at that time. Once I found comfort in being able to eat a small loss and get a different bike, I was ready.
      I was expecting the rebel to be slow, poor handling and boring… I’m just being honest. I had no reference. So you can imagine the joy I felt once I rode it the first time and realized it’s potential, I had to share it with others.
      Like you I wasn’t a fan of the looks … but when I saw it in person, it looks so much better than in pictures, it muscular yet refined, it is odd, different, unique and attractive, there’s something there that is intangible. But it isn’t a Diavel nor a Moto Guzzi, or MV Agusta, but it is a third of the price however.
      The value is unbeatable, the adaptability is impressive, the functionality just works, and it is still FUN for a recovering track junkie after 2 years of ownership and 22,000 miles.
      You are right about scraping pegs, but keep in mind that the lean angle is the best in the sport cruiser class.

      @@ontherebel11 Thanks, brother. It’s been over two years since I’ve ridden, and I’m going through withdrawals. Been geeking out on motorcycle research, and looking forward to getting back on a bike.
      I also love the versatility of a bike being comfortable enough for distance and competent enough to push it in the curves. Most of my bikes have been in the sport touring category, leaning a bit more on the sport side. Good power, upright riding position (or close to upright), luggage, and a good windscreen.
      You’ve definitely illustrated that the CMX 1100 is versatile. “Sport Tourer Cruiser Hooligan” :)

    • @SuperChonus
      @SuperChonus Před rokem +1

      I know you tried automatic mode on the track for the purposes of your content, because you’ve already said in past videos that manual mode is the way to go for full control in the twisties, but I had to smile when you quickly realized that it was a bad idea, and were looking for the first opportunity to switch it back to manual.
      Btw, XDiavel’s lean angle is 40 degrees and Honda states 34 degrees for the Rebel 1100. Both are pretty good for “cruisers”.
      Triumph doesn't disclose the lean angle on the Rocket 3 GT, but I suspect it’s still better than most Harleys and Indians.

      @@SuperChonus WOW!! I can't believe you were able to notice my Discomfort, I was very anxious and felt so out of control, i couldn't wait to get it into manual!!!! I wanted to make sure that people have a visual of why i am not a fan of riding in a spirited fashion while in auto, it will shift at wrong times, the software will never be able to predict every possible situation and have the bike in the right gear. There are situations where i would take the bike to the rev limiter between corners, but need to stay in that gear while negotiating the next set of corners, the software will never be able to se that based on the parameters it is monitoring: Speed, rpm, throttle position, G load etc. I'm not even gonna mention trail braking and other riding techniques. I'm not criticizing, just illustrating the Auto operating parameters so we can play within them.
      Not gonna lie, i secretly lust for the Diavel..... The Rocket 3 is very impressive, but i am way too small for it. Thank you for making this thread so educational for others that are researching.

    Hi Gus, it is nice video and a prove, that Rebel is not a simple cruiser. I had already chance to try mine, but only once. Weather is stil for sh.t......... But, I had plan just to make a really short ride, just a a few kilometers....... But I was so impressed that I have done 120kms and I want more..... I have started with Rain mode. It was too smooth and the response of bike was too slow in my opinion. But in the rain it can be usefull, definetelly. Standard mode is quite fine, sport mode has little jerky throtle I think. Best mode is user, where can I fully adjust all characteristics. I did use full throttle and I can not to use it in next 800 kms, becouse it is still new and I want to make run-in properly. But it has bloody much of power. I did not see that wobble you have mentioned, but I did not used full throtle yet..... my wind screen works fine, but it would need 5 more centimeters more. I have ordered extra shield. I will let you know, when I will try it. the stock seat is quite fine, but I have spent just no more than two hours in it. I have ordered retro long seat and it is higher than stock one and also better foamed than stock one..... both those extras should arrive this week.
    The bike itself is great, I have used to it in 30kms and I really love it....... I can confirm what you are saying - it is really excelent bike and the DCT is higly addictive :). If I was the producer of that bike I would add to the bike handlebar risers, extra foot pegs and extra foaming to stock seat. Also Honda should offer more than one windscreen. That one which Honda offers with batwing is just cosmetic I think.........The crash bars are according to everyones taste, there is plenty of them in the market. I am unpatiently waiting for better waether to carry on testing and riding. I will let you know how I proceed and what chamges have I done :). Keep going Gus 👻

      Always great to see your comments Miro, thank you for sharing your journey with us, you just reminded me of when I got the bike and much I loved it! I couldn't stay away from it! Then I started to feel the pain and my search for more comfort began! It's been an amazing journey on the rebel and in all honesty, I love the bike more now then day 1! Please keep updating us so we can share in your joy! I'm so happy for you Miro! 🤙

    Any aftermarket parts available to move the pegs and rear brake higher so you can corner lower?

    • @ontherebel11
      @ontherebel11  Před měsícem +1

      Hi Raymond, I haven't come across anyone that has done that yet, quite a few owners prefer moving the Pegs forward for better comfort. But I'm sure there might be a product out there 👍

    Was asking about DCT failure cases due to burned clutch due to slow speed practice,do you have an idea about that as I am lil bit worry to go for the DCT

    • @ontherebel11
      @ontherebel11  Před rokem

      Hi Max!!! Great to hear from you man! I have only heard of one case that happened twice to the same owner, think of how many bikes have been sold worldwide that have the DCT transmission over the past 10 years VRF, NC750X, Africa Twin, Goldwing and Rebel. i am not worried about it one tiny bit, and if it does break, i am ok with it as it is a mechanical component that has a lifespan, i opted to get the extended 5 year warranty for peanuts over the life of the Rebel.

      @@ontherebel11 hay bro 🙋💯 wassup! Thank you so much for your fast response 💖👌 it helped me settling my mind a bit as TBH DCT is way way comfy than the manual n I was very into it it's just the case of DCT failure made me hold back a bit but yeah it's one case after all,
      Keep it up bro 🇺🇸🙋💯

    DCT is super... I love the DCT on my Rebel. I've been spending time trying to learn to ride and get comfy on giant touring bikes, and I really really miss the DCT, its so much better than a manual transmission.

      Hi Aya! I couldn't agree more with you, to illustrate how important the DCT is to me, it brought me back to riding after a 10 year break - DCT brought me to the rebel after a year of research, very happy that I kept an open mind during the research phase.

    What kind of a mount you have on your helmet for the GoPro?

      Hi dilly! Here is what I'm using, I believe I added a couple of connections to get it just right. I use a modular helmet, so it is a little different since the opening mechanism is right at chin level. SUREWO Motorcycle Helmet Chin... www.amazon.com/dp/B07B7HQXS3?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
