There is a predator out there who has done this before and and likely will do it again. The entertainment industry love to preach to us but when they have a grooming abuser amongst their ranks they do nothing. Sickening really.

Well I watched it and it is done really well, I think this is mostly because it’s his own story, writers don’t normally have full insight into how people might think, feel and act in situations, so when it’s their own lived story it makes it so different. Also because I had seen stuff about it a bit first before watching I knew this was basically Richard Gadd’s real life story, I think knowing that first does make it different to watch as I wasn’t just thinking about what I was watching but about how he was re acting out what had actually happened to him. He must have been writing it all out and constantly going over it in his head for years and then acting it out on stage and then more realistically on the show, I’m assuming that’s his way of understanding and coping with everything that happened and how he is now, it’s interesting. I can also understand how if it’s your own story it would be hard to change many of the details as you want it to be the way you experienced it, obviously we don’t know how much he did change but it doesn’t seem like it was too much. I think when people write autobiographies people will know who some of the people are in there or will discover it later, but this has obviously reached a much larger audience and I think because it’s visual it makes it a lot different to just reading a book. 🤔 I understand people maybe wanting to find the real Martha’s social media as she’s an interesting character, but I don’t understand why people would be commenting, contacting her and threatening her, it’s clear that she has issues and has also likely experienced trauma in her early life, and it was clear on the show that Richard Gadd felt sorry for her. I more understand people wanting to find out who the real Darien is as he could potentially be abusing others and have a history of it. From what you said it sounds like Richard Gadd did go to the police about him, so I just hope he has not been abusing others since. I think the show does well showing how writers, actors, comedians can easily be taken advantage of and abused when they are trying to get into the industry, there’s so much competition and many end up in situations where awful things happen to them by high profile producers etc which is just so sad. Often, we don't find people we can talk to about the stuff we watch so it's nice to able to do it SOMEWHERE. You bring up the point of the vulnerability of performers and you are spot on there. If you watched the Kevin Spacey 'Unmasked' doc on channel 4 last night, it was the same issue. All those young male actors thought if they did the sexual favours he was asking of them, they would get a career boost, and I don't think they did. You also bring up Martha's trauma, which would have been a very interesting avenue to explore. Often people don't do the likes of what she did without some sort of trauma in their past...
