Also, I feel like they could have made a lower version with 12GB + 256GB and could've easily priced it at $1499, and that would've been such a crazy VFM at that price
U used to be unbiased but after your review with s23 vs iphone 15 now u look biased,
Trust me if this was Apple introducing such features, people would've gone crazy! OnePlus really got this one right!
The fact that u guys ALWAYS bring up Apple in non Apple videos shows they must be doing something right, or you're just mad, or both.
probably apple will make the features more appealing with extra gimmicks that works on apple ecosystem
would never buy One+ phoen ever again after One Plus 1.. camera is rubbish, software is rubbish, updates are also rubbish. Buy OPPO equivalent... it is much better. Yes they are the same sompany but R&D is OPPO and the left overs goes to One+
How do you manage to pull Apple into this for god's sake
@@doboy930 it's not the normal people but some reviewers bringing iphone's topic in every gadget review ..
This is the first foldable that has actually convinced me that there is a place for foldables beyond the brag factor and a few niche cases. Not sure it will ever be needed in my life, but if I was juggling a tablet and a phone, I’d definitely consider it.
Been using the surface duo 1 and 2 last few years. It is awesome having downtime at work and pulling out your foldable.
As someone who used to lug around a phone, tablet and laptop for work... Switching to a Z fold was a great change and I don't see myself going back. Of course my needs aren't the same as everyone else's
I think it's worth it I used to use a tablet a lot back than I switched from a iPhone 14 pro max to the Google fold, I originally got the pro max for the bigger screen but the best decision i made was getting the Google fold, love that I have a smaller screen in the front and bigger tablet screen when I open it fits better in my pocket too vs the pro max switching from Apple to Android wasn't that hard for me because I used to use a android tablet and out of all the android systems I like Google's better vs Samsung
Samsung Z Fold is still KING
@@Josue-cp5ysthat's probably because google makes android lol 😅
But yeah you're right, I fell in love with the pixel 7 pro
And am not sure if I should get this oneplus fold, since it seems so good, or the pixel fold or the galaxy fold 5
True say, that galaxy fold 5 looks really good, so I need to make a choice 😅
This is it. THIS is a worthy successor to my Surface Duo 2. The multitasking aspect of running even more than two apps at the same time is so amazing! I need this!
Forget the surface duo folding phone that phone already got thrashed
Pretty much any foldable is a worthy successor to the awful surface duo. Lmao
The LG v60 could run three apps simultaneously with the extra screen case
The phone flopped because of its terrible software at launch. Not because of its design. The concept of dual screens was, and always has been, an under appreciated concept for a long time in the mobile space.
that thud when opening and closing is immaculate and sends down chills to the spine for it will flood your brain with nostalgia from the flip phones back in the Nokia/Symbian days.
Wow the multitasking is brilliant. Should be the norm for bigger screens.
This. Split screen on other android phones was laughably dumb trying to squeeze 4 tiny windows on a 6" screen. This implementation makes so much sense and I'd be on board Apple using this style vs other android phones
j
we have in ipados macos window to mutitaks
My IPad Pro does that for years now and I imagine most tablets?
@Bambeakz I think the topic is about "smaller than tablets"..
This is actually wild. Hopefully these kinds of features can go on more foldable phones, because these are brilliant features for this hardware
Is there a Huawei p50 in your backyard till now.mrwhosetheboss
You should make a video every day like on Huawei, honor, Xiaomi, Samsung and other companies also videos of laptops and gadgets ❤❤❤
To be honest these features were easily possible for samsung but they chose to ignore it coz there’s no competition in the market. Now OP Open is the standard to beat in foldable, lets see how other companies respond
You and MKBHD are my icon, I love how you two break down all the things in Tech Review even a Child can understand how it works.
Thanks for your honest review. I was on the lookout to upgrade my galaxy fold 3, but it seems my current phone is doing remarkably well against even newer galaxy folds and any other foldables, although bit slow, but not worth spending that extra amt for that small improvement.
That whole virtual canvas multi tasking is unreal. I feel like more companies are gonna start stealing that one.
it's already there on the base android system, 13 got a great rework on the tablet experience with a better dock and the 3 windows at once, companies just reskin the ui in the end
I have the Android 14/One UI 6 beta on my Fold 5 and it seems the same.
Wow! First time I'm actually impressed by the foldable, especially the multitasking stuff. The dock at the bottom is almost a carbon copy of what Samsung has with their tabs but they've done better with the "virtual screen" as Arun said.
Samsung better take notes and I might just take the dive to the Fold 6
its the oppo find n3 fold man. same device lol. one plus didnt do nothing
Meh. It’s still a gen 1 product. Wait for a year before the issues arises.
@@phoenix5054it's technically a gen 2 since oneplus oppo (and vivo) are all intertwined because they have the same parent company, that's why oxygenos look so much like color os
the dock and 3 windows at once feature are also part of the base android system since 13 that for tablets got a great rework but as all things the applications companies need to support this in order to work correctly
@@phoenix5054technically.... it's a gen 3 product now, it's the exact copy of the Oppo Find N3
I LOVE this phone!!! I love the attention to detail, and attention to issues with foldable. My favorite part would have to be the lining or whatever it is, so when it's closed it doesn't get dirt and crumbs and whatnot on the inside screen. Pretty amazing
Great video as usual, but I miss the small icons with timers for different topics/sections in the video. That gave an overview of where you are while talking and I was not lost if I got distracted for a second in the middle.
Really appreciate the changes which you made in editing. Less text, sound effects and now I can focus more on you and what you’re trying to make us understand about the product. Great job team!!! 🎉🎉

Seeing big channels continue to improve their formula is great motivation to go for 110% when you hit 100%.
This the first non-samsung foldable to get my proper attention. And while I'm still far off from buying a foldable(like many other people), the fact that oneplus managed to cramp these specs into this phone and make it(albeit slightly) cheaper than the competition is a step in the right direction in making foldables more affordable for the average person.
Also, I appreciate the new editing style. Probably one of the most pleasant reviews I've watched in a while☺️
I suggest u watch the video about the Tecno Phantom Fold V
my uncle has the fold 5 and all I want is to exchange my 13 pro max with it
You mean Oppo*
This is why oneplus is a flahship killer, their phone qualities are insane
Considering its 512G storage and RAM (double what Samsung is offering), it is inexpensive for a foldable.
13:17 - Loving the fact you visited Hull Fair! :D
well done again after so many years, ive actually sat down and gone throught the entire vid and was not one second boring :D
The thing I like is that OnePlus has always been there company to follow on immediately to some revolutionary business idea. But they really took their sweet time on the folding phone business and when they did enter this market, they entered with a bang.
u mean oppo
@@Black-Circleoneplus
@@Black-Circle Oppo is the parent company, and yes they share the same rnd team, but OnePlus is a premium segment, which tho similar to oppo has several tweaks to make their phones significantly better compared to the others, so ye, they r not one, they are 2 distinct companies with different intrests
@@metaversewr8827Dude what are you on about. Oppo makes premium phones too. Just how samsung has a phone in every price segment so does oppo. Also every “one plus” phone is also an oppo phone. This foldable is notting special. Theres a bit of software difference otherwise- yes they both are the same. (I dont remm the exact name but oppo has the same foldable phone too)
@@aviral1600 clearly u don't know how or who these companies Target....for instance, OnePlus targets a more premium experience, while costing slightly more, this can clearly be seen in various aspects such as add free and bloat free software, OnePlus also has an edge in haptics, hence overall focusing on a more premium high end experience, thus they call themselves 'flagship killers', not saying they are completely different from oppo, rather, they are a much more refined company, targetting people from a higher price point providing top notch specs, as mentioned OnePlus is nothing but a subsidiary or oppo, just like how Iqoo is to Vivo, so Please Understand what I wrote before replying.
I'm new with you. Your really good 👍 enjoyable but your lighting fast.... Omg information overload in a great way.
Hey man I’ve been sticking with you for a year now and I’m never gonna unsubscribe to you ever.
This is the first time I've seen a foldable and thought 'This is actually functionality to match its form!' Hopefully other brands will follow in that software style, it's a game changer!
I've seen a lot of reviews on this phone today and by far yours is the most in depth, informative, and has focused content for things users will actually leverage on a daily basis. Great job!
Excellent video production 👏
And the intro😍😍😍😍😍
What a fantastic detailed review, probably the best out there for the OnePlus Open. Great work, Boss!
I haven't owned a OnePlus since the 3, but the software/UI optimizations in this product make it a really compelling entry into the segment! Intriguing...
Don't go for it ,there is still green line on screen issue which supposed to be solved by now.but I have seen it yesterday On my friend s 9R .
oneplus improved quite a lot over the years. those who say it should be cheaper or the brand is no longer good as it was. they just don't understand tech
Foldable phones are the phone which every body is excited for but rarely buys
Bluds got a point
Still too expensive.
Yeah because you can buy 3 mid range or 2 high end smartphones and tape them together for the same price 😂

You are the best in you review videos and I just can't stop watch them, and thank you for that... I'm sure many agree on this... but..... Besides that big round camera piece sticking out the back.... what else is better/different/exciting than the ZF5? (Best Phone Ever... really?) :-P
Really you are one of the most honest tech product reviewer but you intentionally keep the screen out of any glare and reflection to hide the hinge mark and I didn't expect that
I’ve been an iPhone user since the iPhone 3. I’ve had all of them. I’m tempted to try this one out for a while. 😮. Awesome new editing style too, Arun!!
The split screen mode and the incredible cameras are so cool! These features make this foldable phone actually seem like it could be worth the extremely expensive price!
The intro sequence to this video was shot really well!
I've noticed the style of your talking, and even the style of the music in the video is different. It's more calm. I like it
The alert slider is basically for when you are at an office meeting or in crowds where you dont want to take out your phone but want to put it to silent,
So technically it is the perfect position as you dont have to keep finding it deep in your pockets
I've been. A OnePlus user since the 1+1 now. Never had one without the slider. I never really gave that slider much attention but when I got a non-1+1 job phone recently, I immediately noticed just that. I enter a professional setting, I flick that switch and I know my phone won't bother me. Such a handy thing. Not having it on the job phone really bothers me.
As a foldable phone, OMG! Out of all the ones I've seen from Mark, Unbox Therapy, and other CZcamsrs who have shown different phones, this one beats them all so far. It also helps that the OS is actually good when it comes to having more than one app active at a time when using other apps, and it just shortens a bit, but not to the point where you can't see. I love that you can have three apps open and switch between them like tiles
Almost every reviewer dropped reviews on this OnePlus Open today... Some give a much more detailed review than others.
You identify as a foldable phone?
All those reviewers have dropped reviews of this exact phone today and also your making it seem like they reviewed specific phones and each reviewer is tied to a certain foldable phone or something. They all reviewed all the same foldables before and so has Whosboss aswell. So it's not like he's the special one who picked this foldable to solely review as his own. Also your very first sentence makes it seem like you identify as a foldable phone 😂. Your whole comment is just all messed up lol Get it together brodi.
bro made his intro a literal movie trailer, great going arun!
Forget the review mate, I just love your voice. So crisp!!
Hey Arun, just wanted to say thanks for your insightful review of the OnePlus Open. Your points about the phone's design, performance, and camera were spot on, and I really appreciate the time you took to go in-depth on the phone's software features. I was never really into foldable phones but this one was definitely a mind changer! My favourite part of this phone was the hardware, specially the hinge development, not only for the sus reference but also cuz hinges are the biggest weakness of foldable phones.
I've been waiting for a foldable where I don't have to compromise on the specs for about 6 years. I'm 100% buying this. And I hope onePlus is successful for this
Always been a Galaxy Note guy. Just love the big screens. When the fold came out, I knew I had to have it. I have the Fold 3 and the Fold 5. These folding tablet phones are definitely the hottest thing on the market. I like this one, but hate that pizza camera on it. Just looks like a dinner plate on a dining table.
Happy Birthday Mr whosetheboss
Thanks for wonderful tech content
The editing and visual branding of this channel is truly remarkable
I just bought a new phone this year, but I think my next phone might be a foldable, since I constantly need to translate between languages using Google Translate. It would be much easier to have both apps open at the same time than tabbing back and forth between them. By the looks of the Open, foldables are finally mature enough to be worthwhile. I will seriously consider getting one for my next phone.
Or maybe get a Samsung phone they can multitask really good, u can open two tabs simultaneously and also have alot of floating tabs opened
I personally don't split screen i always open my windows in floating window similar to how windows does it, which in my opinion is better than having two apps in split screen
or maybe, if you are having to constantly translate, just memorize the concerned language(s)? I don't see how it is so difficult that you'd rather spend 1800 usd for such a task unless there is some other appeal to it
I personally don't think that's a big enough reason to get a foldable
@@whyisitsodifficultomakeahandlewell unfortunately we're talking a myriad number of languages, including English, Arabic, Hebrew, Spanish, French, Italian, Turkish, Russian, Romanian, Chinese, Korean and Japanese.
Very enticing, couple years to go for me before replacing phones but am really excited to be able to go back to oneplus.
As a iPhone user this is the first other phone I would think of buying.
It would be cool if they came out with a smart watch that had a fold out screen. You get the additional screen real estate along your arm, or just fold away to the usual square screen. And if they could get it a bit thinner.
My man I think you might be on to something here

Let me write something here. This is the very best implementation of multitasking I've ever seen on any smartphone period. Great job to the software engineers!

Love your video! The unbias analysis made me a fan! What urks my soul about some bloggers and media about this phone compared to the Z fold...umm...WE DO REMEMBER THAT THE PURPOSE OF THE OUTSIDE SCREEN ISN'T TO GIVE YOU A BIG SCREEN. IT DOES WHAT IT'S SUPPOSE TO AND WHEN YOU REALLY NEED TO MULTI-TASK AND ALL THAT JAZZ, YOU OPEN TO THE BIGGER SCREEN 🤦🤦♀️Who will buy a folding phone that they don't need to open? 🤔🤔🤔
The bit where you splash the water on the phone was so funny 😂 I also did that to my phone as soon as you did that and it worked

Bro did hesitate a lot to wobble it
Been using Oneplus on a daily basis since the Oneplus 1. Never been more happy with a phone! Still rocking the 7 pro. Might buy the next model as this foldable is stupid expensive
OnePlus sent us one to film a video for our instagram page but couldn’t talk about it publicly until the release due to our contract . I honestly must say this phone is VERY impressive. I was blown away at how beautiful and well made this phone is. The video and audio quality is out of this world and the Hasselblad cameras are everything I expect from their glass. Although they didn’t let me keep the phone I had to ship it back to them. However I would pay the money for this phone out of my own pocket because it’s that good!
They sent you one? Really? No offense but me and everyone else be doubting you with you 900 subs. And yes that's a lot but still they'd be better of sending one to Arun or Parker Burton aka real techsperts

All of the multitasking and swiping up and the task bar seem very similar to a MacBook. It’s so cool that something like this exists
That multi-screen system is pretty nifty, definitely a step in the right direction. I wonder if they've been working on fleshing it out for Android 14? 14 is supposed to have better support for large screens, which bodes well for foldables in particular.
it comes from base android system (android 13) but with a reskin and some customization on the behaviour
First foldable I've seen with an actualy aesthetically pleasing design. I really like it. Still, I'm most bothered by the plastic folding screens and I think they're just not for me until they're more durable.
Fair point, but when it's closed it's basically impossible to scratch the screen, and when it's open it's probably either being held by both of your hands or propped up on a table, so it seems unlikely that you could really cause much damage to it.
i don't think glass foldables will ever exist. since yknow glass isnt flexible
The intro was epic❤😮
My first iPhone was the 3GS, and then upgraded to the Droid DNA in 2012 (first 1080p phone in the US, 5 inch screen) , because I wanted a bigger screen and iPhones didn’t have that.
The 6 plus came out in 2014 , and I then switched to that. Been on iPhones ever since, and now have a 13 pro max. This is the first Android since my Droid DNA that makes me want to switch over again.
Being their gen 1 I'd expect it to be complete rubbish but it seems decent! I love seeing more competition enter the space.
Edit: forgot they're owned by bbk and already made the oppo find n.
It's not their first gen. Oppo find n is the first generation

I hope One Plus gets back to form. I cant explain how much i loved my 6t and 7 Pro. Literally the best 2 phones ever.
I'm still using my 7Pro as a waker. Best pop-up full screen phone ever.
Absolutely dude I'm on my 7 pro now, best phone I've ever had, 8gb ram, etc , bloody love the speakers,, its so loud, but good loud, not tinny, u actually get bass
Had 6t and now 9 pro, after almost 3yrs, 9 pro is still a beast, except battery, everything is like at the beginning
I downgraded my OP 7 Pro as my second phone after i “upgraded” to iPhone 13 Pro for the compact size and good camera quality. Not going to lie, for many aspects 7 Pro it feels like a better phone compared to 13 Pro, in special for video consumption, 7 Pro screen it’s a beast. No notch, less black bars on the side, wide screen, and somehow 90 hz feels faster than 120 hz on my iPhone. I might try a Pixel inspired ROM since i’m not a big lover of OxygenOS but i’m too lazy ATM to install all the apps again. 😅
@@liviurosca yeah I know well i suppose your age and the generation you grew up in will have alot to do with what you look for in a phone, i mean im actually 36 tomorrow :-):-)can't wait for my jordan 5s,,but when you mentioned one of the reasons being you changed because of the camera (an to be fair thr compact size makes sense to me) but i couldn't care less about the cameras on phones, 5 years ago they were good enough for me,,no notch is gr8, and as o said on my previous comment, the bloody speakers are SO GOOD, and having Dolby atmos with my high res audio headphones is also bloody good, the only complaint I have is the curved screen, it can get a bit annoying with accidental touches, but the new iPhone has got some pretty good reviews, don't worry ive stopped rambling,:-) ill always be android, when i decide to get another phone, it will probably be the zte axon 40 ultra pro, have a look at some reviews of that if you've not seen it, it's a beast, you take care :-)🎹(yes I'm a musician)

His face when he said „that‘s exciting“ for the alert slider was on point with my feelings 😂
If there is one thing I learned from actually using a foldable as daily driver is that the phone case 100% NEEDS to have a built-in kickstand.
Agree 100%
I still can't get a good one cause the samsung official cover angle for the kickstand is incredibly off
Appreciate how Arun chose to be calm & minimal this time to make us understand the product better.

You haven't mentioned this, but the OnePlus Open has an anti-reflective coating on the inner display. Samsung doesn't have this on their foldables, so the screen is very reflective in my experience, just like the lower end iPads :P

This looks great. It's so weird that it's exactly the same phone as the Oppo Find N3 though, which was also launched today. I have a Find X5 Pro at the moment and love Oppo, but if they're not planning to release that in the UK (like they've done with the Find X6 Pro) then it looks like I'll have to get this instead if I want to upgrade to a foldable! I know they're sister companies, but the fact it's the exact same phone and software just with a different logo is still weird.
Love how more and more foldable/flippable products are being developed.

At some point in the future, I'd like to get a foldable like this. I don't know what to expect from next year's Samsung. If they fixed their form factor and came down a bit in price, a lot of people might just want to buy them. The S Pen and Samsung Dex are some things that I really think complete the foldable experience, so I don't think I'm quite sold on this OnePlus. But its form factor, hinge and crease look quite a bit ahead of Samsung. Good job OnePlus!

The thing that sells me is the bigger screen capability I like it it’s why I like tablet screens instead of phone screens but having that mixed with a phone brings more portability, phone capability, and tablet capability so having all that is the selling point not the multiple apps open
