Superb review! Wow. You really know how to discuss details that people might otherwise not understand. Really great review.
I got my Oneplus 12 a week ago and I'm extremely happy with it. I discovered that the Oxygen OS 14 has "Transitions" in it so there are like 5 or 6 different transitions to choose from when moving between screens. I chose "roll" which makes all the icons turn into a 3D tube and spin as I move from one screen to another. Love it! My wife's Samsung S21+ was upgraded to Android 14 and with all our searching, could not find Transitions on it. So Oneplus opted to add the feature into their version of Android 14 on the Oxygen OS and give it to their customers. Would have been nice to see it demonstrated for people in this review. Transitions are located at the bottom of the screen when you hold your finger on a blank spot of a screen and cause Widgets and other things to be displayed.
I'm also super impressed with how excellent the new WiFi and Bluetooth are. As far as I'm concerned they are perfect. The signals connect way better than my previous devices, and without hiccups. And the stereo speakers are really good, too. I'm a musician and so music listening is something my ears are always honed in on.
I concur with all the things MrWho'sTheBoss said in this review.

One thing that you haven't really covered imo is the reception.
How well does the phone receive normal mobile data indoors/outdoors in comparison to other phones (while on the same vendor)?
For me, who is living in an area where the cellphone coverage can be really spotty, that is a point that is definitely missing.
Have you tested that and simply not included, or is that something that is simply being ignored due to the fact that it's not important enough for most users?

But if you test it with the same sim card at the same, time, location etc. you can see which is better. Doesn't matter which circumstances you will have because at any time the better one will perform better.
For example my brothers iphone has arround 350mbit/s wifi connection while my oneplus 9 pro has around 200 mbit/s. Tested at same time and location with connection to same router network. Iphones are always performing incredibly a tleast for wifi

As someone who has been retired for several years, I can only say that I so wish phones like this had been available 15 years ago when I traveled for a living. The devices we endured back in the day were so filled with compromise I'm amazed we bothered with them at all. Today, my day-to-day driver is a Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra, but I am so grateful for the smartphone features that have migrated to it from device manufacturers like One Plus. Additionally, your talent for keeping me aware of which new features to keep an eye out for is greatly appreciated. Your channel is one of the few tech channels that gets the full ring of the CZcams "bell." My compliments.

9:22 You can get a circle but it's a bit hidden. When selecting the square icons, you can adjust the corner radius. If you turn it all the way up, it'll end up as a circle. At least that's the way it works on OxygenOS 12 - they might've changed it but I don't see why they'd do that.

But how is this phone killing it when the IQOO 12 is killing IT lol, the Oneplus 12 is a good phone, no, a great phone even. But the IQOO 12 is an astoundingly great phone that got overlooked back then but compare this phone with that and you won't find much to complain about. That phone has better performance and a better screen (more brightness but lower resolution) for a far lower cost. Cameras are a toss up and speakers are better on the Oneplus and that's it. Vivo is the one that has been slowly but surely killing it for the past few years. My next phone will be a Vivo or if the Oneplus 13 has a better display than the S23 Ultra (peak brightness that is higher than 1250-1300 nits) then the Oneplus 13.

The photographic functioning of the oneplus at 19.00 with the shadows is actually more impressive and correct than the iphone's that's eliminating shadows automatically. Theoretically exposing correctly for the brightest part of the image is the way to go with true shadows (in photography this contrast can be essential) and in post-processing bringing up the shadows should be left as a choice to the user.

The OnePlus 12 is surely turning heads with its killer price and top-notch features. The trinity engine, epic battery life, and sleek software flow. were all compelling points. Despite the shortcomings in the camera segment, it’s still quite a catch overall.

I've been using Oneplus Phones for a while now and I still enjoy them. I tried switching to a Pixel but had to switch back to Oneplus. I don't know, it's something about the fluidity, feel in the hand, and just simple little features that makes it so hard to switch away from. At this point I won't even consider a phone without an alert slider as I use it all the time. It's just a damn good phone for all around!

I think you hit the nail it he head here compared to the noise a lot of people make. A lot of people ignore how a particular system/setup/hardware becomes more useful to its users over time. This is why I'm always infuriated by CZcamsrs are and people of forums when they say shout about the best phone everyone should buy that year, be it iPhone SKU, Galaxy S SKU or Pixel SKU. I aways feel like they ignore the fact that phone users are not reviewers, it's not just about new features, phone users actually use phones to make their lives easier and have developed a certain workflow. After that, the best device for them is the one that comfortably fits in that workflow and improves it. But I guess, these videos are for making money at the end of it all as much as they help to keep the manufacturers a bit more honest.

Good review, as always. Just a correction on the PWM dimming part: for what I know, the latest iPhone 15 and 15 pro/max use a refresh rate of 480hz, while the Samsung Galaxy s23 uses 240hz. Not sure about s24, I think they upgraded their screens to a 492hz PWM.

Thanks for talking about PWM. There are communities of people that talk about this problem. Some people like me can't look to an oled phone more than 5 minutes. But Chinese companies are improving this problem. My Honor 90 is more than 3000 PWM and Xiaomi 13 as an option to turn on Anti flicker. The only two phones I can use for a while. I'm fine with LCDs
