Huawei is so easy to get in Europe so probably it's so in UK
Also he has been in tech reviewing since the last 7 years so there is no way that he doesn't have connections still

I have been using huawei for more than 7 years and I am so happy that I can't tell you. I have a P40 and at the same time I have a watch and a laptop, they work in full harmony and my phone has no google service, so my charge goes more. Plus, I don't get ridiculous notifications, but if I had google service, I would get tons of notifications.
I dropped the device from my hand on the stairs and when I picked it up, there was not even a scratch on my device, which surprised me a lot. I think huawei produces the best devices of recent times.
I totally agree. 👍
Got my p30 5 years ago. Still working flawless. Happy it's not banned in Croatia. Thank you for honest reviews ❤
Unlikely as it was launched by mid 2019 but close enough. My P20 Pro though does function flawlessly since Sept 2018!

My P30 is like 4 years old, still performing better than the Ibroke 15 pro max. The camera quality is insanely good
Same in Serbia I love all the different phones they have...so many choices.
the ban for Huawei was to slow down the development of Chinese mobile tech, but it did the opposite lol. It kinda just boosted the process because now companies like Huawei have no choice but to spend more resources to create their own chips and systems.
It actually benefits humanity as a whole, now China went from chip consumer to competitor.
In the future we will get affordable gpu and other tech device.

Funny how the US banned Huawei, when OnePlus and TCL phones sell relatively well here in the US lmao. The justification was that Huawei was a "state owned" corporation, but literally every single company in China is beholden to the government regardless because of how their market functions.

Thanks for the review. I bought the P60 Pro in South Africa. I must admit there are small things I miss, like the Google assistant. Celia from Huawei is useless, but for the rest is good. The battery is a bit of a let down, but it charges very fast. I got a great deal I couldn't refuse. I got it on a 24 month contract with the earbuds and GT3 Watch "free". Not too bad at all. I think Huawei might even overtake Google in a few years from now.
Huawei's hardware is already better than Google. It's just the software part, which Google has been playing this game for too many years.
@@zy3859 I agree, in terms of new features, I can't see the other major brands bring something new to the table. Huawei has done a great job. Just two things I want to improve and that is the assistant Celia, she needs big work to recognise our western accent - I'm in South Africa and I tell you 99% of the time she gets my intructions wrong. Like in totally wrong. Then there is Petal Maps. I loooove it more than Google maps, but many times it gets the routing. I use traffic ON, because I travel 100km day to work and back and sometimes the routing is not that good, BUT there was times, though not many, that Petal Maps did a better job than Google Maps. I run both of them simultaneously to compare and learn. I hope that one day I can ditch Google Maps. Thid month I'll be using Petal Maps for a year.
Totally agree with you, Huawei rocks! Have 2 laptops P40 Pro with HarmonyOs, FreeBuds matepad, Watch gt3 pro etc, love it and really glad no Google is in it, but still somewhat annoying for developers making their apps force close if GMS is gone, but everything else is really amazing...
The bans are because the Western govts are terrified of being overtaken in tech. Govt regulators hide behind fake Chinese spying threats and IP theft claims (which doesn't even make sense since Huawei is beyond Western tech) in order to squash potential competition from the big bad scary commies. It's truly pathetic if you think about it. They shouldn't have decimated their industrial base and dumbed down their educational systems. Then they could have a chance at competing rather than sabotaging.

Yep, they got banned for good reason: fear of overwhelming competition. Huawei was about to become number 1 world-wide and establish solid foothold on american soil. All USA companies lobbied against it, so it happened oh-so-illegally, pressuring TSMC oh-so-illegally into submission. Classic USA shenanigans. The fear is still real though: China might pull it off in the end with in-house products. That recycled 2016 tech spurting out a 2023 flagship is mind-boggling!

Huawei has very good phones. I remember my mom had some $300 mid-range Huawei phone and its camera was so freaking good. It even had features like long exposures back in 2015.
Huawei phones are really dynamic. I literally destroyed my P30 lite playing so many high quality games, 7000 photos and videos, fell of my hand so many times and still after 4 years it behaves like I have been using it for about a year. So Great. Definitely buying P70 pro when it releases

It's a shame that Huawei was banned back then. But this only made Huawei more determined to create some amazing techs. Hopefully we can see Huawei competing with other brands that has Android
Huawei was banned, because it became the largest phone manufacturer in the world(they've overcome samsung...).
In Europe it started attracting iPhone users and the US did that to protect Apple. (I was one of the ones who switched from Apple to Huawei and was much more satisfied, to be honest). Even my boss bought a Mate Laptop and was really satisfied for two years with it.
I had the Mate20 Pro ~5 years ago... that smartphone was/ is amazing. After two years I gave it to my mother and she still uses it to work from it.
The battery replacement with original one in the official service store here costed us like 5$(every friday all service procedures were 50% discounted and they had additional 50% discount of the battery price) and they ensure that all new seals are properly installed and the water resistance is preserved during the replacement procedure. They even give you a free coffee, while you're waiting there. It took them ~1 hour for the replacement.
They even put a screen protection folio for free... Lol!

My last huawei phone was the mate 20 pro. Honestly bought it since they where the first and only at the time with under screen fingerprint reader that i knew of (this was before the s10 launched)
And i gotta say, i miss that phone. It was a proper piece of tech that surpassed my expetations. a great camera system, amazing battery life, innovations that they dared to try before anyone else. It was amazing.
But sadly it got cracked after dropping it from my hands in the winter onto ice. and while it still worked after that for half a year. it slowly got more and more broken to the point of unusuable. Which then i bought a s10e and missed the huawei.
To be honest, i would have gotten a new huawei if it wasn't for the google ban. and even trough the years i've considered trying it again. But there has been recently rumors that the phone operators here in norway will block all new and old huawei devices from their cell network in the comming time which has made me stay away for the time being (aswell as daily driving a z fold 3 as we speak) but am hoping thats not the case since i know many ppl that still use huawei phones today (they are still being sold in store here)
Me too. I have mate 30 pro running on Harmony Os, bit some app still not running well even after installing G-Space. I really want to have Mate 60 Pro, but because there was No GMS, so I bought Galaxy S23 Ultra 😅
i agree, the mate 10/20 were such a beast & step up from other brands. the p20/30 /pro were good alternatives too tho especially for the price they offered. if u wanted a similiar brand with same performance & features u had to pay at least extra 200$ for it. (at least in my region)
I still have my mate 10 working like a charm! Bought it Jan 2018 and still excellent condition now Nov 2023! My daily phone now are Honor brand. So, yes. Still Huawei❤❤❤
Is it even technically possible to ban specific phone brands from cellular access?
@@IronMan-fi3xz i dont think so, only thing they can do is not supporting the bands the phone can use (somewhat only important if u buy chinese model phones and your country doesnt have the same bands that the rest of the world uses). iirc, they could ban the Sim carrier (Vodafone for example) to access any cellular access, so u have to swap out a sim card only for a different brand.
I could be wrong, but never heard of a case like that, unless the Goverment changes their own phone bands that the actual phone doesnt support anymore
Got a P30 over 4 years ago, loved it, but didn't realize how good it was until I got an Samsung phone. Glad to see I wasn't just crazy and they make a lot of high quality products.

I feel like its also worth mentioning their laptops. I have the Matebook D14, and it honestly feels so premium for what i got it for. The software on top of windows is amazing (the AI search particularly, its so fast) and even though i dont have a huawei phone, i can tell it would pair greatly with one.
I have the Matebook D15 and have done for about 2 years now. It hasn't missed a beat and is still as fast as the day I set it up! I haven't yet felt the need to change it, the only quibble I have with it is the battery life, its poor compared with other laptops but even then it isn't the deal breaker for me as I am usually near to a power outlet if needed. When I do need a new laptop I am inclined towards another Matebook!
As long as you don’t care about China having access to all your data.
@@cycletricity Exactly. People tend to dismiss huawei due to their chinese background. But the thing is, especially with laptops, its mainly the specs that matter. But hauwei doesnt care they still gave a premium experience for the cost. Personally, my battery experience has been phenomenal (i assume because i have the ryzen variant, running the AMD Ryzen Balanced power plan).... Snappy, fast, and battery efficient (i usually get around 6-7 hours of continuous use if I'm just doing word documents, watching videos etc.)
However, if i were to go for a more expensive laptop without the thought of value or cost, I wouldn't choose a matebook. There are better options available but those are all higher cost as well and less bang for the buck. Matebooks have the best value from what ive seen.
I have the d15, a Huawei earbuds, and a Huawei smartphone. It feels so premium than my MacBook. It feels like I was in a very corporate setting with all of the seamless connection functionality. The laptop itself is great for gaming even for mid to heavy games. I never regretted buying my Huawei gadgets, I am currently eyeing the smartwatch.
In conclusion, the most seamless ecosystem and underrated brand ever in the technological era. People need to look past the Chinese background and actually look at what the US is doing. They never wanted to have a Chinese competitor to be as successful as the ones based on the US.
Would be interesting to test scratch resistance which is quite different from impact resistance.
I still have my Huawei Mate SE from many years ago and it's still a great phone. I don't use it as a main phone, but if my main phone breaks I can just slip in my sim card and boom we're running. The battery life on it is still pretty decent for its age and stay on pace with my older OnePlus 8.

For the phone mate 60, it’s not just the glass with is super strong, but also the structure of the phone, HUAWEI is using a totally different structural design(called 玄武架构), which can distribute pressure on the phone more evenly, make the phone harder to brake.

I'm still using my MatePad from 2019. With a tablet, it's definitely doable to use a web version instead of an mobile version of an app. I also have a couple of watches (Huawei Watch Buds, Huawei Talkband) that have earbuds for your phone integrated into the watches that I am surprised other companies aren't copying.
My Huawei Mate 20 Pro from 2018 (now 6 years old) was the best phone I ever had. Back then, it had 40w charging, reverse wireless charging, 3d facial AND fingerprint recognition, amazing screen, 3x zoom and wide angle lenses, amazing night time shots the list goes on. I got a Huawei P40 Pro without Google and it is still amazing. Surprisingly you don't actually need specific Google apps. And the camera on my P40 Pro, despite being 4 years old is still doing amazing stuff. Most people always want my pictures and they want me to take all pics with my phone. Even now, apple and Samsung can't match it's low light shots. I love it and it's still going strong. Huaweis hardware was so far ahead of the industry. People are saying Huawei was shady and stealing stuff but how can they steal stuff the others didn't even yet have. Lol. My P40 Pro doesn't feel like a 4 year old phone when the image quality is still so good. The US is jealous and petty that a Chinese tech company was, before the ban, ahead of apple and was about to overtake Samsung. They didn't want a Chinese tech company to overtake them so they banned them. Typical of America. If they can't do it, no one else should be able to either. They suck. They are the bullies of the world. I will stick with Huawei. And even till today, apple or Samsung can't get close to Huawei watches 2 week battery life. My Huawei watch lasts at least 2 weeks on a charge. Huawei's hardware is simply better. And they couldn't stand it.
Brother,I'm getting my Huawei phone and entering into Huawei ecosystem next year❤️🩹🎅
Still using a P30 Pro. I don't know what I'm gonna do if I have to replace it eventually. I need the google ecosphere and don't have time to do it the janky way.
Will always stick with Huawei watches though. My GT2 is 3 or 4 years old now and the battery still lasts 2 weeks with every constant monitoring option turned on. It boggles my mind how Apple and Samsung watches only last a day on a charge. What is even the point of such watches?

Finally Huawei gets some love in terms of reviewing their products! Their phones and other gadgets are constantly growing even with the bans from the US, and they are pretty strong at evolving and pushing through the problems.
