  • A healthy lymphatic system can help boost your immune system, reduce swelling and congestion, and keep you healthy overall. Your lymphatic system is made up of lymphatic vessels and lymph nodes, where lymph fluid flows through to help clear out toxins and illness or disease from your body. In this video, I share a few simple and quick things you can do to have a healthy lymphatic system. Together, they will take less than 5 minutes a day!

Hi, I had esophageal cancer which was treated with chemo radiation and surgery. Since they found cancer in my lymph nodes when I had surgery I am on immunotherapy. 9 months after surgery a Ct scan found a mass in lymph nodes in my abdomen. They need to do a biopsy and a pet scan to see if cancer has returned and moved further. I am glad they are monitoring me after surgery and they have caught it early. Cheers.

This is my own thoughts on the subject of swimming if you have lymphedema. I used to work in a clubhouse office for an HOA in a very nice neighborhood. It had a pool and I know first hand how dirty a public pool and be. So my advice is if you're using a public pool get there when they first open up and the chemicals in the water and filters have had overnight to do their work. I'd also recommend showering off as soon as you get out of the pool, use soap if allowed. Never go into a pool if you have a break in your skin like a scrape or especially if you have a wound caused by lymphedema. (aka Leaky Leg or Arm). Bacteria can enter through the break in the skin and things can go downhill from there. This applies if you have lymphedema or not.
Some great tips I got from my lymphedema therapist. I had a bout of sepsis and when I got home from the hospital I was in a lot of pain for almost 2 months. My therapist suggested getting in a pool, and it worked like a miracle. It was the only time in those weeks that the pain went almost completely away! But as soon as I got out of the water the pain came back.
Also, they guided me through exercises I could do in the pool using the resistance of the water to make the exercise give even better results then they would on land or using machines. The therapy pool at the facility (in the Health and Wellness Center) was heated and they even had a treadmill in the pool, which was easier on the knees than on land.

The various LMTs I've worked with usually did the massages in a certain order, saying you need to clear away the clogs to let the lymph fluid from the other areas pass. Do you recommend this too?
Lymphedema seems to still be a new area of medicine and therapy and there seems to be many ways to basically do the same things but I've found that some LMT's say one thing and other ones say something completely different. All the ones I've worked with have been a part of Intermountain Health in Utah. I will say that you and the other certified lymphedema therapists have been a fount of knowledge, MUCH more knowledgeable on lymphedema than any doctor I've seen in the past 20 years, and I've been searching hard and asking questions of them and only gotten shrugs or a blank stare when I bring up Lymphedema.
Keep up the great work. I've been sending people the link to your channel since I discovered it last year.

Hello! I am not a cancer patient, but am very interested in keeping my lymphatic system healthy. I am so excited to watch all of your videos. One question for you: I am contemplating using a rebounder, but have mild back (L4) arthritis. Do you think I can successfully increase lymphatic health without the rebounding, or is the rebounding really the best/ most essential way? I am thinking that very mild rebounding would be beneficial without increasing back issues.

Can the valves associated with the lymphatic system become defective like the valves in veins become defective for some? I have venous stasis and chronic venous insufficiency - I am certain this adversely affects my lympathic flow - or lack thereof - I have a neuropathy problem whose cause is unidentified (suspected to be autoimmune though)....also I have no adenoids or tonsils, and my speen on a CT report said splenomegaly....so it would seem the thymus is really the only other thing hopefully doing its part to help keep the lymphatic system in balance - but I know the thymus gland shrinks as you get older....maybe it is misinforming the t-cells that it is educating and that is leading to autoimmunity? Can you please speak to the lymphatic system portion of my comment? Thank you so much for your video.

@CancerRehabPT I believe I must have old information. I was taught not to massage or stimulate lymph during cancer nor bad infection as that can make cancer cells or infection travel from one place to another effectively spreading cancer (or bad infection) to a different part of the body. Has this been debunked and it’s safe to manipulate the lymph now? Please

Your Lymphatic system CAN NOT FUNCTION properly if you do not provide the key material which your lymphatic system runs on - ANIMAL FAT. Not poisonous plant OIL but animal fat. If your body lacks FAT then it will start to take it from your skin and also your bones, to make sure the Lymphatic system works because this is the most important part of your body's detox system. So why vegans get wrinkly skin and many women get osteoporosis is easily explained. You have been made scared to eat MEAT - the correct food for humans - and now you are all sick. Hydration is nonsense, you lack FAT not water. We are never meant to drink water.
Massaging anything is no replacement for keeping active throughout the day. You especially need to walk as much as possible because your calf muscles are key for internal movement of fluids. Good luck.
