- In this video you will see how a dumptruck gets loaded at a plant and unloaded into a paver. And everything inbetween. Oh and i know i say 80 in the video but its 70,000 lb. diden't see that till the upload.
Glad I found this old vid as I am a new driver and my coworkers could only explain the process so well.much appreciate.safe driving to all my fellow truck drivers -2024
This is exactly what I was looking for. Tomorrow morning I’ll be hauling my first hot load of asphalt and I salute you for this step by step🤘🏻
Thanks for the video. I start a new driving job next week and this helps a lot !
I was just notified by a phone call that I am getting switched from a Water Truck to a Paving Dump Truck for a Monday morning start.............with no training.................so thank you for a worthwhile video......now I have a clue on what to do without looking like a total "Rookie" when I get into the truck on Monday morning..................
Get a small chunk of 2 by 4 put it under your heel so your foot don’t get sore when you are off loading thank me later
How do you know how to aim under the silo ??
One time a truck driver delivered a load, emptied in the paver. He then left for another load, stopped at Tim Hortons for a coffee. Smoked a huge joint I presume. When he came back, he backed into the paver, lifted his box, and to everyone's astonishment nothing came out. He forgot to go back to the yard to get another load!!
Ha ha ive done that before just to be funny.
Thats a good weed ( sorry for bad english )
Dam lol
What about the ticket? No ticket=no load.
Lmfao
Just wanted to pass along a heart felt thank you for posting this video.....I got a job as a transfer driver, and was given minimal training and sent to deliver asphalt to a job site. I took the tips from the video and did pretty well. I had one little hiccup when I didn't hold the brakes firm enough against the paver, but I learned and did not do it again. Just a tip of the hat to you.
no problem brother. glad to help
I start Monday driving dumptruck for paving, never done anything like this before so 0 experience, this really helped me get the idea, thank you!
My personal thank you for cleaning your truck between loads and making it safe for other drivers as well!
I got my windshield shot out with multiple stone hits, on a major highway, out of the city; but I didn't see it coming and don't know what happened, actually… Ah! Good insurance!
Your Supposed to after every load that's how I was taught
I'm hauling hot mix asphalt for paving for the first time tomorrow. Thank you for the ride along.
Stopping for lunch with a load of mix on you? Wow. We just had a driver haul off a lot of broken asphalt, then go load hot mix. When he came back and dumped into the hopper, he still had half the load of broken asphalt still in the bed under the hot mix. Incredible.
🤣🤣🤣
Mix stays hot enough to work longer than you think.
Great video, very informative on what happens at each step. I'm new to this industries and I just started doing over night work on the highway running under the milling machine and soon I'll be running mix and I'm a bit nervous about that but after watching this video it doesn't seem like its a big deal. Thanks for sharing, and I'm sure I'll watch this a 100 more times.
Are you new to truck driving???
Update us
Sorry for the very late update. I wasn't new to the whole trucking industrie I've had my class A for roughly 4 years prior to when I commented on this video and was making deliveries to local grocery stores. I had a opportunity to switch paths a little with a job opportunity that offered more money in this field of work and been doing it since 2015 but only doing the dirt side of things until I got asked to run the truck for a big paving company called Brox. And been doing it pretty much ever since haven't got out the industry can make great money during busy season, there's a ton of overtime, at one point I was running the truck night and day.
Me too!!! I train Monday on how to haul asphalt
@@edwardstroko8936what state do you run ? Did you end up liking the asphalt industry??
Hi! Good video! I was in the Teamsters union here in San Diego for 32 years, I can happily say I am retired now. Did a whole lot of asphalt paving thru out those years as well as many other on and off road driving. We didn't have U Tube when I first started, had to kinda figure it out on the fly. You did a good job. Brought back memories, but I highly recommend retirement!😆
Keep on trucking and keep the shiny side up and the dirty side down!😉
Congratulations on your retirement sir!! That sounds like a career I would like to persuit! How do you know how to position the truck the right way under the Silo??
Thanx for the video. I haven't paved in over a year and I have an interview today with a great company and your video was exactly what I needed for a refresher!!
Great video ! So nice to read the info sentences . These sentences didn't flash too fast for slow minds to read.Very helpful. Thank you!
Good job this will show everyone that the job is not as easy as it looks
My step dad owns 4 prime movers and I occasionally go on trips with him and it’s bloody hard work
Automatic sprayer wow. When I ran blacktop in central Ky. Early 2000s. No ac hand crank flip tarp, stand on tank and crank overhead. Short nose L9000 Ford. Fun times in Lexington KY.
Im switching from semi with frameless dump to tri axle. Thanks for the walk through👍
Starting my new job where hot mix looks to be a regular occurrence. I'm coming from the readymix concrete side, and the 2 don't look all that different. Thanks for all the helpful tips at getting through the shift as efficiently as possible
cool video. I work as a loader op at an asphalt plant so pretty cool to see the other side when we send mix out. see a lot of comments on diesel fuel yea EPA dont let us use diesel we have to use "approved agents" but what they dont know wont hurt. only downside to diesel it breaks down the AC in the mix and will uncoat the rock. but using it in moderation ehh dont see a problem.
Great video, I'll be training starting this Monday. Very excited. Already know how to drive, just need to learn how everything operates.
XxCHULOxX wish the best i just started as well
They are a great team and reliable company..Two thumbs up.
“Lubricating agent”. You mean diesel fuel. Don’t let anyone see though! 🤫
TILCON IN CONNECTICUT WILL THROW YOU OUT OF THE PLANT FOR USING DIESEL FUEL
Then ...the lab guy comes out to get a sample off the next truck...(right after throwing a guy out for diesel) ....& he sticks his shovel in a bucket of guess what.....DIESEL!!!
whow we only use diesel we hav diesel sprayer on trucks for asphalt jobs inspector never looks for that
@@sixbanga9524 lol o and g is all water. Bring my own lube
I Drive track in Idaho no one cares about the diesel out here. God bless Idaho it's God's country.
Dude I'm looking at getting into the dump business after watching your video it's almost like a day in the life very awesome video kickass Metallica music in the background probably one of the best videos I've seen thanks a lot I know it was eons ago many years ago but it still rocks
Great video.
"lubricating agent" lol love it
Great video on asphalt paving techniques with loading at the asphalt plant and them filling the paving machine onsite.
I like the driver perspective... Thanks for posting.
Very cool video, I really like how the driver expanse the whole process as he dose the work.
Our drivers wouldn't even think about getting out of their trucks unless it's to take a shit or get something to eat. Good idea on the tarp straps though and awesome you had metallica playing!
We used roll over tarps! No need for tarp straps!
Very helpful buddy, I just started dump trucking but Still in training, I drove tractor trailer for 7/8 years then got with the railroad, I was a Conductor in training I made it as far as an Rco operator in training thats a whole different story, lets just say I'm kinda glad I got out of that even tho I miss it alot honestly but now I'm in training with a dump truck company I love it I just haven't dumped into a paver just yet but This video is a good help thanks buddy!
Great information, loved your music selection as well. Wonderful job on the video
interesting point of view. Thanks for sharing
This is a cool video, the perspective is something a lot of us never get to see. Pretty cool man, tfs
Awesome video! I haul scrap with a dump trailer and old Mack CH. I always wanted to see what you dump drivers on the construction side see. Thanks.
I started out in an old R model, then moved up to the RD model both tandem axles, 2.5 years! Then CH semi, then a T800 KW semi for another 2.5 years! Tandem drivers got laid off for winter, semi drivers got to haul rock to the cement plant during winter! But then after 2.5 years in the semi, I got laid off! Had to go over the road trucking to pay the bills! Been doing that for 12 years now!
thinking of going to this side of the industry, been driving for the last 10 years and ready to do somthing a bit different...
nice soundtrack by the way, damage Inc all day every day.
That was awesome to see how this is all done, thanks for making the video 👍👍
Good vid. Always nice to know what goes on in other guys work.
automatic truck you good it good.I just started as a dump truck driver today it's a lot to learn, but it's fun.
You gave me an idea to hold the trap on my hook-lift containers, I'll use those rubber hook-cord.
Good music by the way...
Awesome man, been hauling stone for a bit, going to do some asphalt with no training, this is like a ride along! And your listening some older Metallica before the sell out! Cliff Burton stuff! Fantastic!
Thanks man... first time paving tomorrow...
I loved this video I’m about to start working for Allen Myers doing the same job and wanted to get an idea of the work. Looks pretty cool 😎
Thank you!
I am a year in dump without asphalt training. I am missing work because of it. Hopefully I can convince the boss to let me give it a go
Very Informative video Sir. Appreciate 👍 Thanks for the video.
Never knew the paver pushes you in neutral. Thanks. Always assumed that was some impressive clutch work maintaining exact speed.
J P not in this truck...lol. Did you see the Allison shifter? 18-speeds are a thing of the past. Well not entirely, but you know what I mean...
It’s why there are rollers on the front of it
The paver actually pushes the truck when dumping out (I’m also a dump truck driver).
Great Video.. I do this almost every Day... Good Job keeping the tailgate and spreader lip clean... Awesome Tunes,.. I laughed out loud and watched ya toss the soda bottle 3 times,. Ha.!
I remember the first time I backed up to a paver I didn't hold enough brake pressure and the load pushed me away from the paver and it made a big ol pile in front of the paver. What can I say but it was a typical rookie move.. Good times
i did the same thing one night also. them fellas on the paver all took it in stride. i only got to do this for one season(1 yr) gravel after the paving season was over. that was a lot easier. but if i couldn't went another summer, i believe i would of caught on a lot better, as i had to learn on a road that had million's of curves' ha!
I had the opposite problem as I was warned so much about "rolling off". In the end I was lucky not to flat spot the tyres as I was too hard on them :(
Big Jim, you were lucky the guys took it in stride when you rolled away. I've seen crew members come unglued, and even throw shovels and rakes at the truck...lol
@@Trucker316 sounds like the crew I work with! Lol
That usually costs you a 12 pack.
Thanks for sharing this bro..
G C! You are very good with the camera. Your videos are like documentaries. You should summit your videos as proof that you can be part of any film crew. Thanks for the horn rebuilding video. I am going to try that fix.
Loving the jams man I know its a lot of work but just driving listening to music can be soothing
Bad ass video! Thanks for the ride!
I never did hot mix or concrete. Always sand and gravel, from 10 wheels, super 10, belly dump, to end dump. Back and forth over and over. The job was great, the city traffic sucked. Thank you. Be safe!
I was paving today for 7 hours. What the f.....k am I doing watching this?!! Have a good weekend everyone.
😂😂😂😂
Very cool, thanks for posting, I haul the liquid part to the silo
04dakota is it tar? U haul?
Early 2000's granite tandem. Mine was An 8 speed, but I didn't pave with it. I milled, great truck for the job
Such good information you gave me thank you
Greetings from a fellow driver from Delco PA!
You do a great job...Good man...
That was a good video. Good info for some one new. Thanks..
Cool video. Thanks for posting it
Thank you for the video. I will use the training you provided.
Good video we spray our spead pans with bean oil before we leave the plant Indiana if a state inspector sees you spraying your tailgate they assume you are diesel fuel go way to get the load rejected
Thank you so much!! God bless you my friend.
The quads I run are about 80k and I love your practice of keeping your gate clean brother ! some days I have been known to make 8-9 runs, Long days and All night,
Im a dump guy on a Paving Crüe aka TICKET TAKER GUY haha this is a kick
a$$phalt video man! And dig the Metallica as well!! Our trucks do not bungee strap their tarps however,,,thanks for sharing video
Learned a lot that's why I liked and subscribed keep up the good videos brother
Love the metallica playing lol
great video
this stuff will get under your skin, bitumen is an amazing product, and asphalt work will take you to the most beutiful places..., I know, been doing this for 40 of my 62 years, would do it all over again
Eduardo, you are truly a blessed and lucky man.
I wonder if this guy likes Metallica haha.
Chris Wheeler Noooo...........
Yeah . Right lmao this is fucking hilarious that he was listening to Metallica
Just about to say the same thing lmao.
Awesome great job thx for sharing,,
I like the little Asphalt Traffic Control tower lol
Nice video bro. I’m trying to get myself into dump driving here in Dallas Tx. I have a cdl but can’t find anyone to give me a chance . Master of puppets .🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
Fantastic job brotha ✊🏿
4/4 on the bungees, nice.
We haul 22 ton on a triaxle up here in Maine and that usually grosses us out at 70,000 lbs. And a wheeler they can legally haul 17 tons.
Oh! I always wondered how the truck stayed in time with the paver, you guys go in neutral and it pushes you. Nice to know!
That really is nice to know here I am thinking how I'm going to do this well now I know 😅😅😅
YOU CANT LEARN BY WATCHING YOU GOTTA JUMP RIGHT INTO IT EITHER YOUR GOOD OR YOU SUCK
Good music, good video, Thanks alot to you well done!!
Great job buddy besides stopping at the gas station with a hot load but I know how that is sometimes othere than that great job taking pride in your job and doing your best to make it happen its a team effort on all parts im a paving supervisor and it's hard to find good guys that take pride in their work and be safe out there let's make it home
stopping won't hurt the hot rock hell it can hav a crust on and will be fine because the paver reheats the asphalt
Great taste in music! 🤘🏻 Rip Cliff
useful for us green drivers who've never dumped asphalt. good stuff, brother. (local 142)
Local 135 here. Been hauling wet batch since I started lol
LOL at throwing the plastic soda bottle at the guy.
Almost how we do it here, except for the covers we use is a different set up where is slides back using cables on both sides, we don't have to strap it down like you do. We climb up on the gantry and spray out our own bodies at 90% of the plants, and use a different product supplied by the plant to spray out our bodies. Every thing is the same. I have observed in the US the benefits for using the cover system that you use. I don't need to worry about that when profiling, as I have a camera in the back.
lol a big taboo here too to stop and grab a feed when loaded with Asphalt too, but when your on the go, one needs to keep those worms at bay...
You can buy spray bottles that double spray. Meaning they spray when the handle is pulled and again when it’s released. Makes saturating a surface literally half the work. I use them for detailing and over the course of hundreds of sprays can save you a lot of hand fatigue over weeks and months.
hand fatigue from a spayer wow I can't believe it
Thanks for this! Now I know exactly what my boyfriend does!
Sarah Ziemke u still with that boyfriend?
@@lrodriguez9315 the thirst is real 😄
4 years later are you married now 🤷♂️
Well,I knew he does you
Great vid...
Hell ya jamming out to Mettalica 🤛👍
That is 1 cute tandem.
Thanks for this wonderful video bro 👍
You sir have good taste in music
Wow! Thanks for this vid. helped gain insight on what dump trucks do. Been thinking on doing something different with myself as far as work is concerned.
GREAT VIDEO
Very helpful thank you sir.
Very well done Undertaker
Good work tunes brudda
cool music, bro!
That's exactly how it's done done it a whole lot in St Louis I really miss it
no it's not I'm n stl and been doing it for approximately 30yrs
Now I've just realised it's the master of puppets album playing!!! Loving this video
Think it was a mix as i know a song from ride the lightning was playing at one point. But still impressive a 10 year old video is playing music from albums made over 30 years ago ...damn i'm getting old
I start my first dump truck job next Tuesday was told they run 80% of the company on Asphalt kinda excited not gonna lie
Love your choice in music 👍
this is awesome crazy
