- In this video I'm riding along with Morten in his Volvo Fh16 hooklift truck! I get to learn all there is to know about hauling asphalt on the Swedish roads.

An articulated accordeon bus! The only driving wheels it has are in the very back of the trailer, so it is an articulated pusher!
@@Eugensson In order to drive the type of bus you describe, here in Sweden you need a bus driver's license. So it is not possible to just drive a bus with truck driver's license for heavy trucks and trailers like Cassie has. If she doesn't also already have a driver's license for a bus! In Sweden, driving licenses are divided like this... Light motorcycle up to 125 cubic inches, A1, heavy motorcycle over 125 cubic inches A. Driving license for passenger car up to 3.5 tons is B, passenger car over 3.5 tons with several trailers BE, Heavy trucks are C, Trucks with trailers, CE, and for buses D, and for Bus with trailer DE. I'm happy to hear! I chose Swedish this time because i'd be more comfortable during the recording. But I think I feel more comfortable speaking English in front of a camera in the end haha

Thanks Cassie. That was a great video. It was fun to see how this works in a different country. We do a lot of asphalt paving where I work. It would have cool to see the actual paving but I certainly understand that they didn’t want to be recorded. One of our topics in our safety meeting is always the traveling public. So, yes, please be more alert in a work zone. These guys are just wanting to do their jobs and get home to their families.

Really smart looking Volvo considering that Asphalt/Tarmac etc. is a very messy substance to work with. Love the flexibility of those demountable bodies that make things so much easier, especially when working in tricky, tight areas! Trucks and Trailers have come a long way over the years! I am really surprised by how many jobs are done with hook lift systems over there. We pretty much only use them for trash here in the USA. Regular dump trucks or belly dump trailers are the main trucks used for paving. Operating the truck from the loading platform was really impressive.
Interesting to see how it's done. In the UK we just use a tipper truck - no trailer.

Tack, då har jag lärt mig att det finns olika typer av asfalt, inget jag hade koll på det men som du säger, det låter ju logiskt när någon säger det. Inget jobb för mig i alla fall, hade blivit tokig på all asfalt som fastnar över allt.

Thanks for taking us on a ride with another driver. Carrying asphalt is a very different job and requires other skills. Morten has shown that. I was wondering: he must get the 'mouth' (for coupling up the trailer) very clean. He must do that as sson as he can, I assume. He's got a beautiful truck, though. Keeping the truck clean takes a lot of time. Anyway thank you for sharing.

Great video Cassie but oh dear carting asphalt in a rig like that, here in NZ any truck that carries asphalt looks pretty terrible in a very short time and normally they are carting to a Paving machine but the it's the same here where it's done in the summer season.

If you are outside and spread tarmac by hand or something, and one freak hot stone jumps down in your shoe you want to get it out as quickly as possible. With your shoes it would take way too long to do that, if you were wearing clogs it would take 2/10 of a second.
That's another reason why you should wear clogs, at least when working with Tarmac. / B.
Ooh, that makes sense! I've never thought of that. All the trucker jobs I've had have required "full" shoes to protect the ankle when driving forklifts and such.
But I understand it needs to be different during tarmac hauling 😃

Det är ju sista tonnet som hamnar på en tipp. Resten tippas hos läggare, men de ville inte vara med på film, som jag säger i vdeon :) Därför är den delen inte med tyvärr

Köra asfalt måste va de sämsta jobbet någonsin med dom arbetstiderna. Hoppas verkligen poliserna börjar kolla färdskrivaren oftare.

The only difference that I can see is . Safety gear. Jeans ,steel toe boots hard hats ,safety vest, safety glasses and gloves. If you did that here. The Government or OSHA would mandate that you wear it.
