- Artturi Lehkonen will not be on any Christmas card lists from any Edmonton Oiler fans or players. His goal Saturday night in Edmonton, off an incredible pass from Nathan MacKinnon, with less than a second left in overtime, gave the Colorado Avalanche the two points, their sixth straight win, and third win on this four game road trip. The Avs can sweep the trip with a victory over the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday.
Sean Walker, and all the new additions, continue to be a welcome pack as the new Avs d-man put in two goals against Edmonton.

I guess after this, I kind of get a similar "Rob Blake" feel with Sean Walker. Not completely, but I remember that feeling of just having a solid pickup that helps get the job done. Sorry if that is absurd, just gave me the nostalgia.

What a game for the Avs! Sean Walker is showing to be a hell of a pickup and producing out of the gate. Georgie played well, and seeing Sammy G stuff McDavid 1v1 was awesome! Lets Go!

The boys have the swagger back and good to hear from some Avs insiders who travel with the team that the vibe in the locker room is the best it’s been all season. Funny that I was all jacked for Kovalenko to get here but after his injury and seeing this team with the new faces, I’m glad I’m not thinking of him now as a necessary piece. Now it’s just, “great if he’s healthy enough to get some time in and cool if he works out this year and adds depth. But if not, no worries and see ya next season”.

Loving mittelstadt’s game so far, he’s so much better defensively than I was expecting. It felt like the oilers were throwing out the Mcdavid draisaitl line against the mittelstadt line the whole game and he was exceptional defensively
I love MacKinnon as much as anybody, but for the life of me I do not understand why Bednar has him taking all the faceoffs. He never wins. I believe that the percentage of faceoff wins against Edmonton was around 35%! It makes life so much harder than it needs to be. Is that the best faceoff guy that we have?

Bowen is a way better fit in buffalo .. and mitts is showing that he fits well here. Time will tell just how high his potencial is. There’s no way we get beat 1st round this year unless it’s a healthy Vegas hitting on all cyl. This situation will be a hard match up.. hope it doesn’t happen haha.
And for ltir? They’re the 3rd team on that list. And we’d be doing it too if we could. It’s part of a good strat to win. I think stone is more timing. Not sure if it’s bending or breaking rules. Just look at the injury and the time to heal. If it’s with spec it’s timing… we have to step up. Vegas makes it to playoffs. Just hope they are off a bit

Everyone is finally seeing how stupid the Draisaitl vs Mackinnon argument a couple years ago was. Mack and Rants are so much better at all around hockey than McDavid and Drai. Having said that, McDavid is an offensive wizard, I am so glad Georgiev seems to have a book on him that no other goalie does. He creates grade A chances out of completely nothing
Different perspective is a few years ago drai was equal or had an edge, its why he won an MVP. The last few years? i gotta give it to mac, the margins are thin but mac took it to the next level the last few and has the edge. Rants as "so much" better is for sure a hyperbole, drai is better than rants but that's not saying rants isn't a top 10 player in the league. If Nuge scores on that breakaway everyone is talking about the effort and pass drai made to spring the breakaway and not talking the other way. Game of inches, both teams are very equal.
@@Danglebot no Drai was never in the same league as Mackinnon, people just focus only on stats. Now that the almighty stats are better for Mack NOOOW everyone wants to hop on board, no Mack was always in a league of his own and Drai has always been a lazy backchecker

Goalies play a vital role in a team winning games. We are all hoping he finds a consistent streak of good games. No warm up in game… seems like he needs a hotter warm up prior to the start. Maybe that’s what’s changed with his coaching recently.

I read a comment that offloading RyJo was probably more important than anyone they picked up. That's an exaggeration - I think Walker has shown his value already, and Mittelstadt looks to be fitting in great - but I agree that RyJo was seriously weighing down this team. Thinking back to Toews' comments earlier in the year, it makes me wonder if he was a poor presence in the locker room as well as clearly too slow for the system. Maybe that's not fair, but it's a thought. They seem so totally rejuvenated.
Matchups are everything in the playoffs and it is great to know that Georgiev is not afraid of McJesus at all. He looked spectacular.
Much as I cringe at facing Vegas in round 1, it would actually be awesome to see them handle it and put that "curse" behind them. To the great joy of everyone not a Vegas fan.

The way the Avs are steam rolling right now with the new free agency pickups, I don’t think it matters who Vegas has coming back. They will get past anyone if this new look team gets even better which they have been showing as of lately. Vegas has been struggling at the wrong time of the season which causes concern.

I may get burned for saying this from Oilers fans but I really don’t believe that McDavid will win the cup with Drai on his team. Unless Drai figures out how to put in complete efforts in games, it will always hold that team back.
