Mark Mark - Prost was a great driver with a different approach to race craft. But he was very rarely quicker than Senna in the same car. Furthermore, Senna was also quicker than Prost when he (Prost) was in a vastly superior car. I loved watching both of them drive and think Prost was one of the greatest F1 drivers of all time. But he was rarely close to Senna's outright pace.

MIka had 165 entries (1991-2001) which is 3 more than Senna. I don't think he would eventually have more poles than Senna even if he ran for twenty more years.

@@bmcomm1 It's just how things went, in the early 90s the top drivers were Senna, Prost, Mansell, Berger etc...and they held the top seats at Ferrari, Mclaren, Williams, the young guns coming to the sport were relegated to the B and C teams. In 94 you had a vacuum at the top, with Senna's passing away, Prost retiring, and Mansell leaving to IndyCar. Many of these seats were filled by those young guns, Damon Hill, Mika Hakkinen, David Coulthard. Schumacher, like Senna before him was quick from the get go, he was very competitive in the Benetton from his first full season in F1.

That's the easy thing to say. Let's not also forget the massive differences in vehicles for each era.
What would Fangio be able to accomplish in a modern car? How would Schumacher have done in something from the '60s era? Where would Hamilton be if he came about mid '70s? Etc...
We all know Senna would be a monster in any era.

Senna could take as many laps as he wanted for most (all?) of his career. Schumacher had to deal with 5 or 6 different qualifying formats in his, including that stupid "one lap with your race fuel load" one.

Interesting to follow the name of René Arnoux, who was always a hot candidate for a pole or fastest lap with the turbo Renault… However they had massive reliability issues. And such he was never relevant for he championship there.
For 1983 however, he moved to Ferrari being third in points!

Brilliant piece of work! I figured I'd hear a brief overview of the top ten with graphics showing the current standings, but watching the list evolve over time was fascinating! I watched the entire video without pausing or taking a break and I was spellbound the entire time. You could track the current state of the sport during each time period by the names moving up the list and also the changes in fortune as drivers stopped moving up for many reasons, some tragic. The music was perfect, too - excellent post!!!!

Senna's results impressed the most. Considering what opponents he had and how difficult the cars were. Schumacher and Hamilton are no match for him. It's not even worth arguing about. The only one more impressive than Senna is Fangio. Considering that in Fangio's time, every race was someone's last.
