today we are tackling the Valour heroes who have made it in to S Tier for our lists over the past few years.
most importantly we address our greatest mistake.

The fact that Glorfindel has F7 is crazy. (One of) if not the most skilled fighter in Middle Earth. Even the Nazgûl didn't want to fight him on their own. Only with all 9 and the Witch-king the Nazgûl would dare to fight him.
He was an emissary of the Valar.
When he went to look for Frodo he met 5 Nazgûl and the Nazgûl all feld before him. Even the full 9 (arguably) ran away from him into the flood of the river.
The guy killed a balrog. And those are F10.
Yeah but he killed a Balrog when Balrogs were hundreds and way less powerful. Tolkien did retcon that.
Guys you have to start using the actual names of each and every model you’re currently talking about at least once! Not everyone is watching the video but is listening.
Vids are interesting but the amount of times you either use a made up name (Boz?) or don’t use a name at all (bolg or azog in this one, I can’t tell) is ridiculous and it makes it hard to follow. It can’t be hard to state the hero at beginning of the convo and clarify at the end of each decision say “X hero goes in Y tier”
I’d also reduce/balance the volume of the background music a bit better, some of the beats are quite distracting when trying to hear what you’re discussing.

Yeah nah fair points mate but in our defence Boz is how we've literally always referred to Boromir in any video we've ever done, part of our culture as Aussies to shorten any word we can to one syllable 😉

Glorfindel has the description of the deadliest warrior in rivendell - he should have a plus + 1 to wound against models with the orc, monster or spirit keywords - something along these lines. And potentially even have a couple of spells - the book describes him basically casting blinding light/banishment. He would be a serious contender to be your Rivendell leader as a magic killing machine.

Glorfindel sucks even more when you realise Aragorn on horse w/armour is only 5pts more than Glorfindel with his upgrades…

If you're running a rivendell list you may as well just Ally in the Aragon as they're green allies
Tbh, Cirdan+Glorfindel is better than other combinations because Cirdan fills the only lackluster aspect of G, which is not being particularly killy.
In the meantime, Glorfindel's one of the hardest heroes to take down: high defence, Horse Lord, pumped Magic Resist and immunity to Brutals, plus Lord of the West...he will rarely lose the fight, and when he does it's hard to wound him, even for monsters.
In the meantime he speeds around with his pimp my ride horse (love you Asfaloth, but Snowmane and Shadowfax lock you in third place) 12"?
He's very annoying. Making him killy is a big upgrade.
Gil-Galad, meanwhile? Yeah you make him even more killy but he's still going to be transfixed on the spot once you deplete his Will points.
Edit: to clarify, I'm not saying he's op. I'm saying that the synergy with Cirdan is better than what other heroes have.
Azog on Warg with Heavy Armour, Bolg on Warg, The Necromancer amd 2 Slayer of Man is 800 points for a smaller evil fellowship list

Gandalf the white also needs master of battle. Commands the defences of Minas Tirith. And we see him organising troops far more than anyone else.
Maybe the Witch King as well.
That's actually a really good shout mate, Gdaddy the white with master of battle would actually be worth it.
Gdaddy and gothmog having would show that they were both the ones on opposite sides running the show.
Liam controls where the profiles are placed, he's going crazy with the power.

I get what you’re saying about glorfindel but his fortified spirit rule with 2 dice to resist is huge! Especially the fact his horse gets it too. If you went against an army with magic and you took gi- galad, he could just transfixed out of the game and not make back his hefty points, where as glorfindel can resist and crack on. Gi-galad and elronds horse would just get black darted or shot, but glorfs can’t. So he’s more reliable
He will never get Targeted with magic in the 1st place, giving your opponent less choices to make, why assist your opponent???
Out of all hero's he's the one I'd want Targeted. Take away his unbending resolve and I'd be happy.
He's also absolutely not more reliable, if anything he's the least reliable outta the 3.
Black dart is a lot less effective against his horse, tho getting shot by bows, his horse drops just as easily as the others and well on foot the dude is the worst out of the 3.
Gilly has +1 the wound and Elrond has foresight and wrath to assist them on foot. What glorf got? Lord of the west? Yeah so do the other 2.
Ppl for whatever reason love him for his magic resistance, I honestly don't get it. As mentioned your just helping your opponent, giving them less choices to make. You have to play smart against magic and out witt your opponent, put your heroes in spots your opponent will have to make hard choices. Glorf just makes everything easier for your opponent.
Glorfindel is a trap of a profile

@@NoobsandMen I mean I use Rivendell quite a lot and have taken glorfindel to tournaments in the Uk where magic is everywhere and they definitely try to cast on him and it bounced off him. As I said, if I had taken gi-galad then he would’ve been taken out of the game for a few turns at least and then you’ve got a 180 point model not doing much. And like you say if they’re not targeting him then doesn’t that mean he can go around freely and kill? Yeah he has no plus 1’s but him on horse on the charge with lord of the west and a banner near by at F7 he’s pretty good. His horse is also a lot tougher than the other two’s horses by the way and he can use his fate (which he has 3 of) for his horse.. and it also moves 12 which is kinda big. I get gi galad is more Killy and would be a lot better with certain match ups but magic is always around at tournaments so that’s why glorfindel would be the most reliable. Elrond is only worth his points with an all mounted list
Glorfindel should have something like +1 to wound to be excellent I think, or a free heroic combat ? No one has a free heroic combat in Rivendell so could be nice on him :)
Some kind of bonus for wounding would be really helpful, even give him str5 or something

He does have a hand and half blade, but the -1 to duel rolls is the worst
The thing about Glorfindel is primarily that he doesn’t have obvious weaknesses.
Elrond and particular Gil Galad are weak to magic and to getting their horses killed.
A decent chunk of enemies are F6 so F7 is nice.
12 inch movement is surprisingly powerful.
He is not the best in anything but he is the hero with no weaknesses that is above average at everything.
Glorfindel is quasi the exact opposite of Gulhavar.
Gulhavar is either great or terrible.
Glorfindel is always solidly above average no matter the situation.
Glorfindels obvious weakness is that he's 170pts of not actually doing anything. He can't reliably kill anything which is the only thing he could try to do, he's got no magic, no +1s to wound, doesn't bring any better troops to the table. Elves already struggle to wound things, you can't be spending those kind of points on a model that continues that trend

Now I give you the following upgrade options, which ones would you pick and which ones wouldn't you pick?
20 Points: Extra Attack (Lord of the West)
10 Points: Fight + 2
10 Points: Fortify Sprit
5 Points: Terror
5 Points: Move on horse + 2" and gain Fleetfoot
5 Points: Eleven Blade + monsters may not rend you
Useless bonus: Turn Sword into hand-and-a-half, gain Access to Heroic Challenge and Heroic Strenght
Fancy Extra: look cool with billowing cloak ;)

But that's the thing, all of that (other than f value kinda) isnt helping the core issue of spending 170 points on a hero that kills about the same as a 115pt hero, you're kinda just proving my point, I could take a comparable killing power hero for 55pts less and get 5 more models on top of it all. Or even worse if we wanna stick with Rohan you could compare him to Theodred who is only 100pts and actually provides the killing power Glorfy lacks. All of this to say it's 170pts of ok hero, like I'm literally never scared of Glorfindel on the other side of the table cause I know he'll maybe kill a model or two a turn and, despite his fight value advantage, almost never threaten my heroes. Sorry man, he's just not great, by all means use him, the new model is sexy and I love his lore, he's a cool dude, but he's just not a great profile

Glorfindel is great based on the Meta like when Beornings are insane my personal experience
Really? If I was a bears player I'd have no sweat seeing Glorfy on the other side of the table, the guy can't wound me and if I win the fight he's getting killed, I don't care if I can't use brutal powers, all I have to do is charge him and he's still knocked prone from monsterous charge and taking a million str8 hits

Been maining rider of theoden lately and I agree, Eomer should be F6, you're hurting for a F6 hero so bad in an otherwise excellent list

tbf to the khandish king vs mahud, the khandish king has more defence, in the ways on the chariot and he has monstrous charge kinda so he can knock down low strength cavalry.
The Mahud king can get a shield and be the same defence though. In the comparison it was a Mahud king on Camel vs a Khandish king on Horse. Chariot is a whole different ball game but is still a clunky piece to move and maneuver so I still appreciate a Mahud king more

Every time I bring Glorfindel (less and less) he disappoints me more and more
Dudes truly just a let down.

Honestly I love the lore of Glorfidel and I use him because I love the model, but he rules are mediocre. F7 and Lord of the west are nice, but for someone who had the potential to just walk into mordor with the ring, he really needs Might Hero or Blood and Glory for him to fit better. The dude used to kill balrogs, but in game he gets splatter like 90% of the time.
He needs some kind of killing buff for sure

@@NoobsandMen I rarely ever see anyone use him, the few times I have he's been hidden in a ruin or behind a sea of fountain guard.
I'm pretty new to be fair, so there probably loads I've not noticed.
Just tickles me this old bureaucrat dude can go toe to toe with an elven warrior XD.

Aragorn not in S tier is HERESY. 4 real Bolg better than Aragorn?
Yeah he is unfortunately. He's f7 str5 burly for the same points at Aragorn without anduril, sure Gorn has mighty hero but Bolg just has to kill 10 models to get mighty hero and before that he gets terror and Harbinger, on top of all that he also gets MOB from the army bonus. I absolutely despise Bolg mainly BECAUSE of how much better than just about every hero he is. Plus the stretch limo, fuck that model

With all the other hero options he just doesn't have a place outside of theme.
Cool headed is an ok rule but not enough to have him in S Tier, or even A tier.
I'd much prefer to take any of the champions of erebor over thorin 3.
