    The original idea for Twisted Sisters was actually released as an effect called 'Four Faces' by Corvello (Cor van der Velde) of Holland, in the late 1960's. It was marketed and sold by Ken Brooke, with Corvello's permission. Jump forward a few decades and both Phil Goldstein and John Bannon decide to release it with absolutely no recognition of its' original creator whatsoever. Amazing how these 'names' never (despite no doubt numerous contacts) appear to do their research......I wonder why €£$€£$? What I don't have to wonder about is why I dislike Modern-day Magic for so many, many reasons.

    • @PreservationEnthusiast
      @PreservationEnthusiast Před 3 lety +2

      This is what has always happened in magic. People bring out exactly the same effects with different names and minor patter and performance variations. Total rip off artists. And young magicians suck it all up because they must buy the "latest" miracle, not realising they could have it for free, if they did a bit of research.
      If these effects are exposed the so called creators claim "copyright" or you can't do that because it is a "marketed effect". All absolute bullshit. They are the ones who have transgressed.

    • @BarryAllenMagic
      @BarryAllenMagic Před 3 lety +2

      @@PreservationEnthusiast Absolutely. John Bannon has ripped off countless amounts of material; yet continually flies 'under the radar' as one of the good guys. Really? This piracy is the prime reason why I steer clear of the 'Magic Scene' these days. The majority (and I really do mean the majority) of Magicians(?) these days haven't got the first idea of this game.

    • @PreservationEnthusiast
      @PreservationEnthusiast Před 3 lety +3

      @@BarryAllenMagic This recycling of effects really does bother me. Many people are not "creating" at all. There is very little original magic.
      I guess in a way it is like music. There are only so many combinations of notes, so that new compositions are likely to be in some way reminiscent of older ones.
      But they don't even change some notes. They just reproduce the whole piece and give it a different name. The magic scene still largely protects them and labels them "creators". Because to some extent the magic scene wants continued release of content in order to generate income.
      One can see this on large forums such as the MagicCafe. Magician A rehashes an old effect and releases it. Then the usual suspects (cronies) Magicians B & C turn up and post how they were absolutely "blown away" or they showed it to a magician friend and they totally "raved" over it. Usually followed by an exhortation that you "have to get this".
      Well we all know it's absolute fuxing bullshit. Total rent a mouth kidology. They must have very short memories. If they look in their magic drawer they'd find almost exactly the same effect or look in some public domain old magic material they'd find the method and be able to make it for free instead of paying £25.00 for it!
      And yet it continues with some very dubious effects getting sold too. That's the scene and that's the biggest magic trick of all!

  • @jessejamesentertainment8630

    I still think the original b'wave is better and easier to follow. But each their own, I wasnt convinced till I watched the max maven download.

    • @craigpatchett3508
      @craigpatchett3508 Před rokem

      Maven actually says in the download that Bannon based Twisted Sister, with his permission, on B’Wave and that he (Maven) thought it was a good trick but that B’Wave was a great one.
