    This trick is actually really clever and contrary to what people in the comments say there is no fake signature involved. Well done!
    SPOILER BELOW
    The coin that is signed consists of two halves that can be separated. When signing, Brooke therefore signs one side of one half and one side of the other. Lau first shows both sides of the coin and then hands over one half to Peel. Peel only ever shows one side of the coin (with the signature) and orders Brooke to step away for her to not see the back of the coin. At 3:52 Lau inserts his half of the coin with the smiley into his nose. At 5:33 Peel hands over the second half of the coin to Lau with his right hand into Laus left hand. After getting his half with the smiley out of the nose, Lau puts the half into his left hand, where the second half is already waiting. After that he has the full coin with both signatures.

      @@just-squirrels yep and then Peel palms the other coin around the time Lau brings the glass plate across, and then hands it back to Lau at the same time as giving him the tweezers. Lau has good slight of hand to show two different coins and make it look like two sides of the same coin. You can even see at the end when he shows the marks to Brooke that he's holding two coins side by side. But it's a well constructed trick and they did well to send P&T down the wrong path with solving it.

    • @profonde3460
      @profonde3460 Před 2 měsíci +6

      @ch5851 Hi, just so you know it's sleight of hand, Not slight of.
      Many people do get it wrong & if just people enjoying the trick it doesn't matter; but if person comment like they know something about magic, or how the trick is done, then details it (exposes it) they should know & use the correct words/ terminology.
      Besides the magic side it is bad English to say "slight of..."
      sleight: use of dexterity, or cunning - as to deceive.
      So could say some things are sleight of mind, both in magic (post hypnotic suggestion for one example), or perhaps re being excessively overly influenced in everyday life by someone else. But slight of mind means something completely different.
      As "sleight" tends not to be used outside of magic anymore, suggesting an usage that would only work with sleight (not slight) isn't easy, but hopefully previous paragraph helps to detail why it's not "slight of hand". Although if the magician has small hands it could be :) :P
      Yeh, I know long comment, but hate people who correct someone in this way:
      *sleight of hand. (or, for anything that's incorrect).
      Without explaining why, as some people may just not know, & of course youtube (& other media) is world wide & many people may have English as a second language, so in both cases even being told something is wrong word doesn't help to learn why it is.
      (Of course in some instances though it's not even worth bothering; see comment by someone saying P&T weren't fooled, it was one of their give away awards.
      Clearly a person who doesn't know Fool Us works, since they don't need to be fooled by the Trick, but either just by one thing in it or not get correct guess/method in reasonable amount time - we see only about half of the fill-in between end of trick, & when the host hands over to P&T. Plus there's off stage executive adjudicator/producer & a magician who (& only person that is) been told prior how it work, & P&T have been overruled a few times, 3-4 times with the magician getting a trophy when P&T said they weren't fooled, but they got the analysis wrong, and twice when P&T did go to give the trophy but hadn't realised they'd said something that was correct when thought it wasn't.

      Well, if the magician(s)can figure out an alternate way to do the trick other than the way P&T does it then you can probably easily pull it off, which seems exactly what they did here. The best tricks for fooling P&T are the ones that have multiple ways to pull off as you get a at least a 50/50 chance they guess wrong as to how it’s done even if they know more then one way it can be done.

    Two coins stacked on top. When she signs the coins, she signs one side of each coin. Front of coin 1 with the initials, and back of coin 2 with the smiley face. Lilau is careful to flip the coin stack with his hand covering so they can’t be seen together from the side. He hands coin 1 to Brendon and it is put it the little clip on the table. Lilau shoves coin 2 up his nose when he inflates the balloon. Brendon makes it look like he is shooting the coin at Lilaus head, but nothing is fired. He keeps the coin palmed in his hand. The glass is a self breaking glass gag that can be purchased anywhere. Its sole purpose is to convince you that something was fired out of the slingshot when there wasn’t. Lilau then motions for the hemostat which gives Brenden a reason to get in close. When they are side by side, Brenden simply hands the second coin to Lilau. Lilau palms the second coin. At this point coin 2 is in Lilaus nose, and coin 1 is in his left hand. He pulls coin 2 out with the hemostat and we can see the smiley face. He places it in his left hand which is already holding coin 1 with the initials. Now they are back in the two coin stack. He again is careful to cover the flip with his hand so we don’t see that there are two coins. She could have drawn anything on either side, but they directed her to draw two different things so we can see that there are two sides. In the end when Lilau is prompted for Brook to inspect the coin, you can see him struggle to make sure he gets the coins back in the stack before he pulls them out of his pocket, he again flips it over with his hand covering the coins. He does not hand the coin to brook as it would immediately give it away.

      i'm sure i'd be able to do it if i could examine the coin and had bit of time, but doing that loose handed and hiding it from audience .. hmmm
      also if someone asks me to draw a smiley face, i'd make one with x x as eyes :) just to be different and possibly mess with their trick.

      @SethiozProject Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@OgKamoGaming "hd video zoomed in" ... take a screenshot and rotate it and compare, looks same, just bit more faded, which is normal as marker doesn't stick to coins that well, you can basically wipe it off with finger if you press hard enough.
      however i just came up with an idea how to copy things. 1) marker is wet, so it goes thru materials like cloth. if you press shirt against your skin and draw with marker, bit of it goes thru onto your skin if shirt is thin enough. 2) make special transparent sticky layer that lets half of the marker to go thru 3) peel it off after signed and stick it onto another coin.
      it could have magnetic edges so it clips around the coin perfectly.
      you can go more high tech and have a swipe-scanner somewhere on stage or in pocket, with a coin holder. you slip the coin in there, scan and then you have a small "printer" that replicates it. you can easily make one of those, however i think they're using much simpler method. i always over-think things and go with super high tech methods.

      I think it's only loose for us because of the camera angle. Sitting in the audience you'd have his entire face obscured by the balloon so it would be fairly clean. I agree with you on the coin marking copy. My thought was that it's something to do with the fact he wouldn't let Brook hold it both when she drew on it and when she inspected it after. He also held it exactly the same way both times so perhaps it's doubled up and the markings transfer somehow.@@SethiozProject

    There are 2 coins. Around 5:35 Pell passes Brook's coin to Lau as he is giving Lau the tweezers. The performance of the trick would have had a greater effect if Peel & Laul brought Penn on stage to sign the coin. With the velocity of coin being shot out a sling shot it would take a surgeon to remove the coin out the back of the throat. I love magic tricks. @8My problem with that is that it's *unnecessary*. Since you can clearly see they have to show BB BOTH COINS at the end of the trick (god that was a terrible camera mistake at 8:42. There's no doubt we're looking at 2 coins) we know that neither coin has both correct markings on it. IMO, P&T were on the right path.
      But then why do a move that looks clearly like an exchange and cleanup? They had two coins they could pass off as real for most of the trick, and each had one for most of the trick. I HAD been thinking that was a feint to try to get P&T to guess wrong.
      The only "maybe" I have in mind is that they wanted to show the REAL smiley in the nose-pull, but the REAL signature a moment later. It just seems a lot for part of the trick too small for P&T to see.

  • @Paranitis
    @Paranitis Před 2 měsíci

    Basically they have 2 coins back-to-back that Brooke signs one side, then they flip the stack for her to sign the other side, meaning 2 coins, each with a different signature.
    It's why the one coming out of the nose shows the smiley face and the one over at the table with the slingshot was showing the initials. He even stuffs the coin in his nose while he is blowing up the balloon.
    When they go to the end and show the coin again to Brooke to verify they are her marks, you can see that he is holding 2 coins back-to-back, but she didn't notice it. If it were "real", they would've just handed her THE coin, instead of having him hold both together.
    But, Penn was thinking it was a single fake coin that was predetermined with a BB on one side and a smiley on the other since he couldn't be on stage to verify for himself.

    Things i noticed when watching normally (no pausing, no frame-by-frame, no screenshotting..etc).
    1) coin never flew thru glass, it broke on its own.
    2) i thought he gave the coin to him at same time when he handed him the pliers
    3) signature and smiley looked bit different, but i thought it was because of marker wears off of metal quite easily when touched.
    Things i didn't notice at first:
    1) he put coin into his nose when blowing up the balloon
    2) this means there had to be 2 coins
    3) didn't notice how they replicated the signature and smiley face, but i would have probably used some clear sticky layer that lets some of the marker to go thru, while some sticks to the layer, then you can peel it off and stick it onto another coin, so both coins will have signature, but just faded out and 2nd coin was definetely faded out bit more, but i thought it was only cuz they touched it and he put it into his nose aswell.

    When Brooke signs the coin, it looks like he's just flipping it. In reality, he is swapping the coins. One coin is then with the slingshot. He shoves the other one up his nose while inflating the balon. When he hands over the tweezers, he also hands him the second coin.
    Of course, it wasn't planned that she would want to see the coin again, but it was a good improvisation.

    So you can see at 3:45 when he is blowing up the balloon that is when he puts the coin up his nose. That bit is easy to see. What isn't easy to see is when the coin switch happened, because clearly the coin that's put into the holder is not the one that Brooke signed. My best guess is that at 2:17, he takes the pen and puts it in his pocket, while grabbing the 2nd coin at the same time. Then he makes the switch when he's showing the reverse side at 2:22 (he flips it over rather suspiciously by covering it with his hand) and hands the decoy coin over while palming the real one (or rather, putting it between his fingers). That's the only point I could see where the switch could have happened.
