Using a key to mark pin positions on your pick can help with learning to pick a lock. For American Locks and their clones, you can use the quad rake if you don't have a key.
@@Dayman0warUsing a key to mark the pin positions on a lockpick may be done for any lock by inserting the key and marking where the key meets the keyway. Place your pick with the tip aligned with the last cut of the key and make a mark on the pick where it falls over the mark you put on the key. Repeat for each cut on the key. When picking, align the marks with the front of the keyway to position your pick. Using the quad rake is quicker and easier but specific to American Locks because of the distance between the pins.
I actually used the starter set for work due to a lost key that didn’t have a duplicate during a slight emergency. It’s amazing how many assumptions happen when you bring out a hook and turner though but people stopped making fun of me for weird hobbies 😅
That's awesome my guy!!! I remember when I popped my lock cherry! But I'll give you a tip... Paper clips suck ass, their super bendy so they make picking 100x harder than it needs to be. My suggestion, either by a car windshield wiper or "acquire" one off a persons car nice enough to donate it to ya. Inside those windshield wipers are metal inserts that make awesome picks and tension wrenches with a little filling or grinding! To make a tension wrench they just need bent at a 90° angle and Thier identical to ones you get from Sparrow or Southord
😮 imagine watching this guy's videos from the perspective of a novice locksmith and the value in this video and his others as well like man it makes me wish I were a locksmith just to appreciate his videos that much more!😊!
I'd love to see your take on Dudley combination locks - those things were ubiquitous when I was in school, and unlike with the Master combo locks, people didn't try to break in to Dudley-equipped lockers
The sounds of the marker close up are despicable but I love the tip, I got really discouraged with lockpicking because I couldn’t figure out feeling where each pin was
This will help and trust me... Practice practice and more practice!!! The way that I learned was the pins will have some give to them up and down but any other part of the lock will be solid and not budge. Also try to play with your attention because that will do a fuckton with how much the pins will give, if you feel no inside part of the lock moving with your pick then your applying too much tension. But if the pins feel really squishy and springy than you may need more tension. Hope I could be of some assistance my guy
Ahhh master locks... Their like the driver's ed car of locks! I feel you though, once you get used to Poppin Master locks in the beginning it can be a pain in the ass to pick other ones. I'm gonna try this method as well
I stumbled on these videos and immediately went to covert instruments website. Started picking abus and american locks at work. American locks are giving me a head ache, im going to try this.
I've been doing this for awhile using a key for reference. Especially on those pesky american locks. Kinda helps to bridge the gap between a regular pick, and a lishi tool
Imagine a lock company called something like "mallcop locks" and their slogan is "our locks are more insecure than you", their advertisements are just them bashing their own products, but in actuality its just impossible to open without the key, and if you lose the key, they have to go to you to get a new key, bc even THEY cant pick it
I only ever picked one lock and it as on a lock in HS because a kid brought in a kit he didn't know how to use. Turns out Oblivion has a really realistic lockpicking system
Yeah american locks are my nemisis. I think ill actually try the sharpie thing. The awesome cutaway you shill off of covert instruments is awesome, but it hasnt helped so much...

It's a useful tip that helps with visualizing and getting a feel for where everything should be. Thanks for this!
Im not going to use it but i put it on my pick anyway.
Will this work an any lock?

The extremely quiet moan at the start got me. 🤣🤣🤣
Ohhh myyyy fucking god...
😂 I had to listen really close
Lmao I literally had to replay it just to make sure it wasn't just these dabs hitting me hard 😂
now i can't unhear it lol good catch.
Yooooo 😂😂😂
Least unhinged McNally video
Listen to the audio in the beginning really close.
@@nullshock3381glad I wasn’t the only one who heard that
Did you not see the macabre display he made of the lock at the very end? This is art.
McNally why did the sharpie moan
Bc he hit it's g-spot! Why else
what the fuck you mean it "moaned"?
@@user-fk3rr8dh8mcrank the volume at the start

Lockpicking ASMR is something I didn't know I needed.
i heard that moan.
I was looking for this comment
How indian are you
I picked my first lock with two paper clips the other day. I would like to partially attribute that to McNally.

Hope I could be of some assistance my dude😉, happy pickings
Did you use a paperclip to open up the other paperclip? ;)
Well done! Lockpicking is a pretty fun hobby!
Ok the wet sounds from the pen at the beginning got me ponderin
About gayness 😉
+ the moan
Pondering what?
About if they really can be that slippery?
McNallyOfficial is officially an asmr channel now
It was so subtle I didn’t hear it till the second time
The Moan ??? 😭😭😭
The moan when you pop open the sharpie.
And here, we spy upon a wild young lock, about to fail its 1 goal.
😮That ASMR hit different 👌
😮 imagine watching this guy's videos from the perspective of a novice locksmith and the value in this video and his others as well like man it makes me wish I were a locksmith just to appreciate his videos that much more!😊!
Love how the lock just falls apart at the end
Ahh yes, lockpicking ASMR
Sir, you make me afraid to buy locks 😂
Oh that's really neat.
Also why sharpie asmr
Tutorial on How to destroy a lock
I'm pretty sure that was already done when it was attacked by a MILLING MACHINE!
😂😂😂
First rule of lock picking: if there’s a hole theres a goal
Where is our superhero origin story what got you into this?
I've never seen him this gentle before
The graphics are always understated in these shorts, yet highly professional in quality. Well done once again, thanks for the lesson
The "Plink" as the cap pops off the pen is so McNally!
I'd love to see your take on Dudley combination locks - those things were ubiquitous when I was in school, and unlike with the Master combo locks, people didn't try to break in to Dudley-equipped lockers
Love this cutaway model exploding!! Spectacular
McNally, are you going to make a video about the new Golden Tags from Covert Instruments?
I regularly mark the pick for tricky locks where the warding is difficult to negotiate and feel is limited.
This actually helps I scribe my picks.

*immediately sharpies their covert instruments picks*
Don't you dare tell me what I won't do.
Yo that sharpie made the same noise I make when a new McNally vid comes out.
Huh. This might help me learn to feel for the pins though. I’m struggling on anything but Master locks 😂
Ahhh master locks... Their like the driver's ed car of locks! I feel you though, once you get used to Poppin Master locks in the beginning it can be a pain in the ass to pick other ones. I'm gonna try this method as well
Had to make that marker sound like macaroni at first. And the faint moan.
"Oh i didnt match the shape. I just stuck it in there and broke it."
I’ve been in the industry for about 2 months, this helped me starting out when practicing at home for lockouts
I don’t think I needed the up close macaroni noises thank you
And then the lock disintegrates jamming it into the unlocked possition.
This must be the locks they use in dungeons.
I stumbled on these videos and immediately went to covert instruments website. Started picking abus and american locks at work. American locks are giving me a head ache, im going to try this.
Nothing cant truly stop this guy😂
Any locksmith will tell you we all get lucky from time to time but few of us are good at picking a lock under 10 seconds.
That hack was so good that lock broke itself
It’s funny, that’s something I did many many years ago when I was trying to learn how to pick. It actually helped some.
Thank you for teaching me how to break into other people's doors.
I've been doing this for awhile using a key for reference. Especially on those pesky american locks. Kinda helps to bridge the gap between a regular pick, and a lishi tool
"the key might hurt it"
meanwhile the lock just melts at the end
The lick of the sharpie in super close up is both an interesting and off-putting sound.
I don’t know why… but this made me want to learn to pick a lock.
I just wanna say, your channel successfully got me into lockpicking
Someone was having fun in the background 😂
I use this too but not with lockpicking
Just helps for clear communications when I tell her both inch markers are in 🙏
I love the part where the lock falls apart lol
Bro is really on his the object grind
This was pure eargasm. Does he make ASMR now? 😂
that lock pick moaned, i’m not crazy

Dan that assembly completely died
the editing is spectacular lol

Why you need a unique, fun and clever lock for your home:
thank you so much for those ASMR specials.
Imagine a lock company called something like "mallcop locks" and their slogan is "our locks are more insecure than you", their advertisements are just them bashing their own products, but in actuality its just impossible to open without the key, and if you lose the key, they have to go to you to get a new key, bc even THEY cant pick it

Those pins look so soft and supple 😩
The Asmr of the sharpie lol
Thought I was watching an oblivion lockpicking tutorial for a second there...
Im curious whats the hardest brand/lock to pick
I do that, Lockping Lawyer can see the marks without the Sharpie.
I love when my lock disintegrates after i use it once
Man i might try make my own picks with this permanently etched or scratched or something into the side 😮
Security lock pins are proving difficult for me with all the ridges
Oh I think I will use it. And it shows perfectly a scale of lockpics if you want to make them yourself 😏
Gonna give that a whirl on my set, thanks!
The more master pins in the cylinder easier it is to open
We can hear your naughty sounds at the start of this sir.
friend: what's ur job

Those pins at the end 🥵
I feel like an idiot Everytime I watch these things but I'd love to learn this art
Ive actually robbed hundreds of people because of this man, keep it up big guy 👌💜
I don't know why I've never thought of this.
This went from violating locks to asmr :(
Is it just me, or did that sharpie sound like an endermen teleporting?
Who knew he could be so tender?
Could you show us how you would pick sunprobrick’s lock that he made
What would it look like if you were to try to design a lock that was unpickable?
