    I can single pin pick just fine, but I've spent the last 30 minutes trying to open a lock with no success using the lishi. It's really hard to control the counter-rotation of the cylinder to allow the pin to fall into place when your tension wrench and pick are attached to eachother.
    Edit: nvm got it. Don't rely on counterrotation of the cylinder. Just use less tension. I don't find it easier to tell which pin is binding with this tool yet, but I can still open a lock quicker. These are fun, but probably won't replace my standard tools at this point.

    I have been practicing with my Schlage lock. It has been behaving strangely and I’m not sure what’s happening.
    The lock turns in both directions but only unlocks clockwise. When applying tension clockwise, I was always able to bind the first pin and clearly hear a click, but the other pins felt very loose no matter how much tension was applied, and they never bind.
    When applying tension counterclockwise, I was able to bind every pin and hear clicks along the way. Most of the time, however, the lock didn’t turn even when all pins were set. I did make sure to apply little tension. So far, I’ve only succeeded 3 times counterclockwise, although it doesn’t open the lock. Technically I am only supposed to practice clockwise, but I never succeed that way. Doing it counterclockwise didn’t make it open, but it provided some feedbacks for the very least.

      You can easily say the same about lots of things. There are bad people in the world that will use inanimate objects to do bad things. You don’t need to take things away from people because a bad person might use it for bad things. If you do, you’re just an overreacting Karen that would take fire from people because of arsonists. Or take water away because people have drowned others. We have enough moral busybodies in the world. We don’t need more.

      The answer honestly is both. You're likely to encounter both lock types. I'd say personally I see more Schlage, but Kwikset is close behind. ~ Rob

      @@ITStactical in Canada we don't have Kwikset. But we have a brand named Weiser, I think it's the same as they have the Smart Lock which you can decode the lock.

    What is the difference between the SC1 and KW1?

    • @auroraringz
      @auroraringz Před 2 lety +3

      Kw1 is a kwikset brand keyway with 5 pins and the SC1 is a Schlage brand keyway with 5 pins.

    • @ITStactical
      @ITStactical  Před 2 lety +5

      They're for the specific keyway of the lock. SC1 is a Schlage 5-pin lock and KW1 is a Kwikset 5-pin, the two most common locks. ~ Rob

    Do these work on pad locks or house doors?

    • @defaultui9625
      @defaultui9625 Před 2 lety

      Both. The names of the tools match their keyway counterparts with the same name. In this case the KW1 is for the Kwikset KW1 keyway, and the SC1 is for the Schlage SC1 keyway. This naming scheme applies to all Lishi picks, so you just need to know what keyway you're dealing with, then grab the corresponding tool if it exists.
