This is the best demonstration by far! Thank you very much
I greatly appreciate that, thank you so much!! Have a awesome weekend brother 🤜🤛
Great demonstration. Good idea to use the change key thingy as the bypass tool. Thanks for this video, have a fun weekend, cheers
Thanks PW !!! I was trying to find something that anyone could get a hold of, and figured whats better then the thing that comes with the lock lol. Hope you have a fun weekend as well my friend CHEERS 🤜💥🤛
Great explanation 👍🏻 thanks for sharing
Thank you, & thanks for checking the video out
Have a good week 🤜🤛
Very nice idea. Great work.
Thanks Downfal1 !! Have a good one brother 🤜💥🤛
Wow!!! Great picking!!!
I will have to try this 😀👍 very cool 😀🐈⬛🐾🐈🐾👏👏👏
Thanks Chris. Really glad you liked it. I hope you have the same experience with it as I did. Have a great weekend my friend 🤜🤛
@@RookKnight you as well!! 😀🐾🐈⬛🐈🐾👍
Thank for that!
I have tried different ways (i’ve seen on YT) to pick my Smartkey locks and not had any luck.
I will give this a try!
Take Care⭐️
Thank you kindly. I hope this proves useful for you. I was trying to find something that everyone has, or could get, to make a shim for these locks. I have seen a quite a few videos were they don't even mention what they used, or the dimensions of the shim they made. Figured with using the actually smartkey that the locks comes with, should even up the odds for people like us to make something that works. Have a great weekend 🤜🤛
I have no doubts. You have magic fingers that allow you to work miracles with lock pick tools. 🎩💥🦊
Thanks brother, I think that's one of the best comments I have ever gotten. Hope you have a fantastic weekend my good friend 👍🏻👍🏻
Very cool, this is next level for me. I love where your kind wanders buddy 🤜🤛🫶🍻👌👍
Thanks Nick my friend. I bet you could pull this off. Hope you have a great weekend brother 🤜🤛
Solid picking and great explanations
Thank you for that 🙏 have a great weekend 🤜🤛
Reminds me of the GM ignition switch
I see it too, now that you say that. Have a good one. 👍🏻
Sometimes with the gm sidebar ignitions jiggler keys or rocker picks work excellent to defeat these locks.
Great picking, Have to watch till the end, don't wanna miss anything !!!
have a great day
Thanks brother, you're a gentleman and a scholar for sticking around till the end. Have a great weekend my friend 🤜🤛
Love this demo tutorial picking video. Are you sat in the rocking chair with your pipe, slippers and a paper then suddenly it comes to you 🤣
Love the video Rocking Rook Knight.
LMAO, not going to lie your not far off. They definitely just pop into my head lol. Hope all is well my friend. Take care, and have a good weekend brother 🤜🤛
Very good indeed 👍 I enjoyed that and found the gutting really interesting .
Cheers and all the best to you and yours -Have a great weekend 👍 🍻 🍻 🍻
Very glad to hear you like it brother. Cheers & all the best to you, and yours as well my friend. Have a great weekend 🤜🤛
Much better than my earlier attempt. Well done!
Thanks brother. What did you use for your shim. The one I made was what gave me more consistent sidebar compression. I would definitely recommend giving it a go. If you don't have one to mod, you can get them off Amazon. I've seen you pick, you can get this brother. Practice with the housing off, the thing that holds the core in the door, that says kwikset on it. (Can't think of the real name for it at this second) but that was a big help too. Take care my friend 🤜🤛
I’ve got a couple of those Kwikset tools I can try to mod to use as shims. Really a brilliant idea!
Thank you my friend, I hope it works as well for you as it did for me. Take care brother 🤜🤛
Nice pick ⚓️🧲👍
Thanks brother, have a great weekend 🤜🤛
Excellent, need to research this lock more to fully understand. Can that shim be inserted all the yhe way round the circumference of the core ? (I know it needs to be where the sidebar for this to work, just wondering)
I believe just on either side were the ball bearings are, where the drill protection is. Ironically the one stop that should be protected the most, isn't 😆 best thing to do, is like you said research it. Research the hell out of it (that's what I did) I learned how to gut these before even picking them.
Also for practice, try picking them out of the first housing. The thing that holds it in the door, that says kwikset (can't think of the name at this second) good lock, I'm sure you will smash it.
Great video my friend. I have not had the opportunity to try a super bump key if the customer does not have the original key. I believe I could bump the lock open and then use the tool to rekey it to a new bitting. Have you done this yet? I am just starting a locksmith business and do not have a bunch of old locks and cylinders yet.
Thanks for checking out the video. I honestly don't know if a bump key would work on these Gen 3s, but that's an interesting idea. Possibly if you shimmed the sidebar first? You definitely have me thinking. Thanks again for watching, and I wish you luck on your Locksmithing business👍🏻👍🏻
Best explanation I've seen yet for Gen 3 vs others. I'm assuming this hack doesn't work for for Gen 1 or 2?
Thanks you my friend 🙏 and you are correct, from my understanding with the gen 1 & 2 you can tension, and pick them like a regular lock. In truth, I think the gen 1 & 2 are more difficult to pick because of that. I don't believe gen 1 is even in production anymore (and are hard to find now days), and the gen 2 are all getting phased out for the gen 3. Have s great rest of your weekend brother 🤜🤛
@@RookKnight I've got a few old ones in my collection-do you know how to know Gen 1 from Gen 2? I've opened a few a time or two, but very unreliably.
Take a look a look at this it looks at 1,2 & 3 the author mentions a possible gen 4 but I don't know about that. docs.google.com/document/u/0/d/1t9_s7c2ltbx8IeRmCsanhWFYbil_Vn_0IIi20TvdPy8/mobilebasic
Here's a video for a different on gen 2 and 3 from someone but doesn't talk about the gen 1
Hope this helps my friend 👍🏻czcams.com/video/-fpwIySlRnQ/video.htmlsi=uSTGZDkC16igS2B9
Thanks for the vid. Do you think this would work on a gen 5?
Thanks for watching. Im not to sure on the gen 5. To be honest, I didn't even know there was a gen 5 You just kinda blow my mind with that one lol. I will have to do some research. Thanks for the comment 👍🏻hope you have a good weekend.
Yeah, the 5th gen has different wafers to foul the scope users. You have a great weekend as well...
Haven't seen that method before. Just dug out my Kwikset padlock, will it work with earlier versions?
This shim will only be effective for the gen 3. With the gen 1 & 2 you should be able to picked them with a regular tension tools and pick, but first you will have to find out what generation lock you have.
Take a look at this, it should help you figure out what generation you have. In it the guy mentioned a gen 4 but I don't know if I agree with it, it's basically it's a 3 upgraded. Anyways here's the link. Hope it helps docs.google.com/document/u/0/d/1t9_s7c2ltbx8IeRmCsanhWFYbil_Vn_0IIi20TvdPy8/mobilebasic
@RookKnight It says 2013 on the packaging for my Kwikset padlock if that helps? TBH I haven't even unpacked it yet! 😀
@@TequilaDaveI couldn't say for sure, if I had to guess I would say it's possible a gen 2. This one I'm picking in the video is a 660 and only as of late, have they started putting the gen 3 inside them. Best advice is to gut it and compare with the photos in the link.
@RookKnight Being UK based and not that familiar with them I don't feel comfortable gutting one, even with a key. Anything like that or LFIC/SFIC locks I avoid taking apart. Maybe one weekend when I want to torment myself but until then I will leave it to the pros. 😀
